As a big fan of the original anime series of Shaman King, I was pretty concerned about this reboot, since most of the time I tend to be a little disappointed when an old anime gets one (Sailor Moon or Hunter x Hunter, the only exception maybe is Fruits Basket), starting to watch this anime out of curiosity but always with the idea that "next episode it'll get this bad that I'll just hate it."
From my rate, you can deduce this didn't happen. In fact, I actually enjoyed this anime really much. It felt really nostalgic, as you can perfectly see that it's not a ... recent anime, since it has all the vibes and tropes of a typical 2000's shonen. Even the format of 52 episodes is something that makes me think of an old anime, nowadays it's really rare to have an anime of that lenght. Since it's a 2000's shonen, the tropes are the basic: power of friendship, many level up without a real sense to the plot, every enemy is a friend, etc... If you find these things annoying, then you wouldn't like it, but luckily I love these tropes so it's okay. I love when there is a battle tournament, so I couldn't not love Shaman King since it's literally the major plot point. And the message that "death is something that happens and you shouldn't be scared of it, since it stops your life but also it's the start of something new" is poetic.
The characters are as memorable as in the first season, really charismatic and lovable. I love the idea of so many culture both in the characterizations, the spirits and the morals, since it's based on the shamanic world and all the type of culture based on the spirits, it was very interesting to see the different way to approach the topics. Yoh is both very typical and unusual as a MC, but that's what makes him very interesting. And I love the team of main characters, though I would've liked to see more about some other characters that unfortunately have poor screen time.
The opening were both really beautiful, since I wasn't even skipping them most of the time, and it's really strange for me. About the ending- well, I watched it on Netflix, it just goes to the next episode without letting me listen to it, so I'll fly over this part.
And then, the real Achille's heel of the serie in my opinion, the character design. I honestly don't know why when they make a remake of an old serie, they just decide to have the worst chara design possible. It happened already some times and I really don't understand this, it feels like something cheap and plastic, also because those "neon colors" don't always go well with the vibes and the tone of a scene, seeming too bright for a maybe dark moment in the story. It doesn't completely ruins the experience, but they could've made something way bettere instead of this.
In general, for those who loved the first season, and even for those who never watched it or read the manga, if you like 2000's shonen, this is pretty much a must to watch. If you don't like the trope, well- you can still watch it, but I think you'll find really annoying the *power of friendship*.

How can I possibly start this review without saying how much of a loss of time this anime was like? Because it is.
But let's start with something more simple. This anime is the adaptation of the remasted version of Persona 4, Persona 4 Golden, so I was expecting the plot of Persona 4 (maybe without many details, since it's a lot to put in 12 episodes) plus the story added in the Golden. I was really wrong.
This anime is completely a filler season. It's literally the Social link story of Marie, the character added in Golden that is really important for the story. For those ... who don't know what a Social Link is, it's the Friendships with the other characters in the game, that you have to level up meeting and chatting with them while you play to know them better. And it's okay when you have the entire game, but when you have ONLY the Social Link of a character, it feels pretty useless to make an entire anime about it. Also this isn't exactly stated in the plot, so at first I wanted to watch only this series without the vanilla one (and I didn't play the game). Luckily I changed idea, though I still wanted to watch them together, so I was alternating episodes and I got really big spoilers from the second episode already even if I was already past half the vanilla season. Yes because this series doesn't even care in giving you prompt of the story, already in the second episode you have the full cast together, without any explanation, when you should actually know them one by one. It was pretty rushed too, since the episodes are mostly one shot, and aren't pretty much plot-related if not for few chatting about the major plot point of the story.
At the end of the story, how could I enjoyan anime that was almost like watching a series only of "beach episode"? Only the last episodes are really plot-related, but this doesn't justify or help that much since I was really bored when I got there.
Also, I have the opinion that every media should be watched by itself, but in this case you should play the game of watch the vanilla season (and this is not a sequel, let's be careful with that) or else you wouldn't understand anything about it.

I'll start saying that I haven't played the game yet, so what I know from the game is just from a little gameplay I watched. So, no comparison to the original, my opinion will be only based on what I watched.
The serie is actually enjoyable, with the high and low typical of a 25(+1) episode serie, given that at this point it is considered a "long" anime. Being a P5's fan, I knew what I could expect, but the story was really intriguing aniway.
It's like a detective story, there are some crimes and the cast of main characters has to discover the truth about it. ... I actually understood who the culprit was, but it isn't something really prevedible, so I'll give points to that. Even the system of how the crime works is really interesting, though I would have liked some more details, it felt a little rushed as an explanation. Maybe in the game is explained better? I have no idea, but I'm on the "every media is only for itself" so I should be satisfied with only the anime, without having to play the game. The real problem, for me at least, are the one-shot episode, there are few of them and they feel like really out of place. I perfectly understand that they're needed to introduce some of the Confidants that aren't in the team, but at the same time they cut the flow the investigations have, feeling like unnecessary fillers.
Something I really really loved are the break time, when there are few slides between the first and the second part of the episode, since there are the first drawing for the series and they look pretty cute. And also the "change time/locations" since they are completely inspired from the game, with the day that change everytime the time passes and the skills' star that takes points everytime Yu improve himself in something.
Talking about the world building, the little town is one of my favorite place to set a videogame, specially a detective one, so I think it's perfect as a location. There are some locations of interest, like Yu's house, the restaurant, the school, it actually gave the same vibes of when you have to play the game and you have to decide what to do with the "free time". I was a bit disappointed about the TV World though, since they literally showed nothing of it as world building, there are few screenshots of the "general" and few of each dungeons, so it wasn't that much of a scene. Disappointing mostly because the world building is the best part of Persona in general as a series, since it's also always different from game to game. I would have liked to see more about it, but here are just locations, without anything more. It's a real pity.
The characters for me are the real flaw of the anime. I didn't love any of them, I wasn't interested in either of them, finding most of them a little irritating too. The Protagonist (Yu) was confused in how to act, something he was cocky, sometimes too serious, and I know that it's because technically you as a player should choose what to say, but since here he is a character, it should've been better to give him a personality and let him act like that all the time, because everytime he seemed really OOC. Yosuke was disappointing too, he seemed really bland to me, there was something missing in his personality. Chie was okay, but I rolled my eyes at her every now and then, the only one that I liked (but nothing more) was Yukiko because her storylike was enjoyable and she surprised me when we know her better. The mascot, as usual, is only annoying, and I hated the plot twist about his appearance. The ones I liked the most were Naoto, Kanji and Rise, I already knew Naoto's storyline and I think of him as the best character in the game, he has a deepness that the others don't have. The chara design is really cool for all of them though, though, being the anime a little old now, the quality of the animation is swinging.
The opening was pretty meh, but the music (that I think are from the game itself) were really cool and fitting for the atmosphere of the various situations.
In general, the anime is good, but not perfect or great, something or for fans of the game, or for those who can't play it. If you have the possibility to play it, just do it, this would feel like a loss of time.

If you watched Arifureta 2, it should mean that you watched the first season, so you know what you're going to watch, you can expect the trashiness of this anime from the first second actually.
Arifureta is an anime that you watch with you brain off, like, you just put it on stand by and it's something entertaining, nothing more, nothing less. Sometimes you need to watch something that it's just simple.
I enjoyed this season more than the previous one, since the cast of characters was already together and there wasn't the "oh, we are in a new place, let's see the new companion of ... the crew", a trope that I find quite borig after a while. The main cast is entertaining, since the dynamics between are pretty funny, but it's great to see that even if it's an harem, there is never that Hate (with capital H) between the girls, even if they bicker every now and then. The chara design is also pretty, but nothing really outstanding.
About the plot, it's nothing special to be honest, some missions, they go somewhere, they fight someone/something, they win somehow. Like I said, it's an anime very simple.
A point more for the opening since it was really good.
In general, it's a good anime to watch to relax your mind, maybe an episode every now and then, if you like isekai and harem mostly.

It's been a while since I watched the first season of this show, I'll be honest, so my considerations about the past season won't be very specific, but only what I can remember in comparison to the second.
Let's star with a simple question: was this necessary? Absolutely not. I consider the first season of Psycho-Pass a masterpiece and in my opinion one season was enough, the second felt like a "plus" but it wasn't at the same level of the previous one. I started this season feeling satisfied of the past ending, so in a not good way.
But I enjoyed this season, at least way ... more than I could think before. Even if it seemed something "too much" of a franchise that already said what it wanted to say, at least it was coherent in the message.
The story itself was great in my opinion, it came pretty nostalgic to me since like I said, it's been years since I watched the first season, that I enjoyed very much, so seeing the past characters + the new ones, and that world that I always thought as very interesting put a smile on my face. The world building is great, as usual in Psycho-Pass, and the idea behind it is very interesting.
I'm not very fond of the chara design, but it actually fits very well the theme, so it's only a preference of mine.
So let's keep going. I said that I didn't start well because of my prejudices, but I was surprised and I liked it. But this doesn't mean that I loved it.
In fact there is a real big problem in this season: the characters. I was pretty fond of them in the first season, but here they are the worst.
The enemy was interesting and his arc was pretty cool, but they are not in any way charismatic as much Makishima was. Since we lost in many ways some of the characters of the first season, here they are replaced by new ones, but you don't actually get fond of them, because of the poor screen time or other reason. So when there are events related to them, it's not like you can actually care, and I think it's also because this season is only 11 episode long. The only new character that got screen time is Shimotsuki, but she's insufferable from the start to the end, like every single time I thought "oh maybe she'll get better", she just gets worse and worse. She kinda ruined every scene she was in, for me.
And the past characters were...there. Like, they are on screen, but it's not like they actually do something, most of the time they are only there. And it's a real pity since the cast was amazing. I think that if I didn't actually remembered them, I would never think they could have been actually important to the plot. Except for Tsunemori, obviously, since she's the main character. Even if here she seemed prey to the events coming from every direction, it's not like she doesn't do anything, but at the same time she doesn't have grit. She doesn't seem to actually feel anything, except in few moments.
In general, I enjoyed this season, but there were many many disappointments. The final score is between a 6 and a 7, but I put a 7 since I love the franchise in this case.
