As an avid reader of SAO novels, I can hardly find the right words to describe my disappointment for this season.
In mandarin we have a saying for anime call 窮得只剩錢, which could translate to all you have is money. This is exactly what I saw this season.
The visuals and the animation in the OP showed us what the production group have and could achieve. Alicization's art style and details is definitely something that is worth applauding for. It had been the best in the series and one of the best this season.
But the story and character development are jokes. Whoever pacing the story must

The anime was able to hook people in the series, and did prove to be an enjoyment watching. But after reading the novels and looking back to what the anime is, i need to say that besides from the enjoyment of boss fighting scenes, the anime is not really that good.
The first two episodes filled in the missing parts of the novel - the beginning of the story and the first floor. But then the timeline is just simply messed up by the production team, jumping to two side stories. The first includes death kirito's first love, then immediately followed by a side story ...

A typical anime that was just for presenting another possible waifu.
The anime itself does not have a really interesting plot. The whole story is just surrounding around masamune wanting to impress his sister for obvious reasons, restating repeatedly that she is cute yet kept stating that he is just the brother of sagiri. Yet the anime is still worth the praise due to its art. For a character focusing anime that doesn't really have a plot, it is important for the production group to be able to highlight the character that the author wanted, in this case, sagiri. The production group did a pretty good job ...

Go read the manga is all can say for this movie.
The original story have a fine and delicate plot that is worth reading in the form of manga. The movie's plot is reforged in a quite indecisive way, cutting some parts of the main plot to stick in a part of a side plot. The adaption of novels or manga to film is always a challenge due to time limitation, but the plot of the film can be better if the story line didnt try to include everything. The feeling after the two hours movie is as if one only read the comics every other episode. The art ...

As a native speaker of mandarin, i am lucky enough to enjoy the novels without needing to wait the long translation time or the english translation of the book. Although the first story about Aincrad have seem to be unorganized and messy in structure due to its original purpose is for a novel contest, the story construction skills of Reki Kawahara is something that is definitely worth praising. Both the ALO arc and GGO arc provided a thorough and organized storyline, that are easy to read, understand, and enjoy.
