This ending and the writing as a whole was much more satisfying and easier to feel immersed/engaged with than the anime. In a similar sense that the anime was able to portray and discuss things that are harder to do in a manga, the manga was able to do things that it seemed the anime would not have been able to do. But, even if the ending is the only difference acknowledged, I think that's enough to put this over the anime for the better story.
