I ended up liking this series, even though based on volume 1 I thought I was going to be rating it a 6/10 at best. I still can't really justify giving it a higher rating than 7 simply because while the time-travel elements of the story end up being interesting and exciting in the last volume, and volume 2 drops some mysterious tidbits, the beginning of the series didn't stand out that much from other high school manga, except for the basic premise. There was a bit of fanservice here and there, and while one moment was kind of funny, it kind of detracted from

the story for me. In the end, though, I liked how this series wasn't just about romantic love, but other kinds of love, and dealt with themes of how we make decisions in life without always knowing all the ways that our lives are affected by those decisions (for better and worse). Having the protagonist see the world through the terms of a visual novel also connected well with the theme of choices, as anyone who has played them will know.

I was curious about this manga based on the premise and the artwork. When I started reading, I found it somewhat intriguing and was curious to see where it would go. Unfortunately, its peculiarity and nice art were not enough to get me to push through to the final chapters of the last volume. I came close, but I just couldn't do it. There is hardly any plot development per chapter and it often bounces around from chapter to chapter to different characters' points of view. This can work, and other series have used different characters' perspectives effectively, but I just didn't think it worked

in this series.
For one thing, because all the characters have very long hair without much to differentiate them, it's hard to tell the characters apart. The characters also don't get much development, but just trying to figure out who was who took away from the reading experience for me. I've seen others describe the storytelling as "obtuse," which isn't a bad description. Plot points are fed to you in very small crumbs and while there's some mystery that's maintained that kept me somewhat curious, it just wasn't that exciting or revelatory.
Even though the volume covers depict girls in embrace, for a yuri/girls love series, there is very little emotion in this. The characters' relationships don't develop very much, you just kind of have to take their word for it that there's any love interest between them. There's no chemistry, no passion. As a result, it left me cold and I can't recommend it.

I think I first heard of this from a YouTube video. The title stayed with me, even though I retained very little about what it was about. I just remember it being a series that the person in the video recommended highly. When I saw my library had bought the manga, I thought I would give it a try since it was an entire story in just one volume. I predicted the ending almost straight away, and people who are familiar with series with a similar premise probably will, too. dropping it before I got to the end. I read a few reviews on here of people who were also not effusive in their praise of the story. Someone referenced a twist without saying what said twist was. I was curious to see how it would end, even if I was finding the first few chapters boring and slow, so I persevered. Even though I don't think it is the greatest manga out there - there are some clichés that are pet peeves of mine, or that just aren't my favourite - I thought the ending was touching all the same. It brought a tear to my eye. Ultimately, I don't regret reading it, but it could have been better.

Fushigi Yuugi is the last OVA of the Fushigi Yuugi series. It is 4 episodes long.
For the first 2 to 2 1/2 episodes, things are pretty boring, but it picks up later and you kind of want to see how it wraps up.
The main character, Myo, is not very likeable. She's a whiny, selfish girl. You could say she is the main character, but I'd also say the usuals are also focused on a lot.
As you may or my not know, Fushigi Yuugi Eikoden was two books in a fan-written light novel series. The fact that it

is fan-written clearly shows itself in some parts of the story. I'm not going to give anything away, but there is a bit that contradicts what was established and communicated in the main series. Luckily, it sort of fixes itself if you want to believe so, but I still find it unfortunate.
The animation keeps up with the art style and animation of the main series and the previous OVA, but I didn't like the CGI animation that was added in. It took away from the viewing experience and made it seem less like what we've been watching for the past 61 episodes or so.
Overall, I'd say Fushigi Yuugi Eikoden is worth the watch, especially if you can almost not get enough of the show. The conclusion makes up for the boring beginning that provides the setup. Watch it like you would the rest of the show, but whether you like it or not just remember that it never really happened. This is fanfiction on a professional level.

First of all, if you always associate the "seinen" genre with extreme perversion and lots and lots of nudity, think again. I think Chobits might be an acception to this.
If anybody ever found anybody calling this anime "perversion with computers", anybody who says this is wrong.
There are no sex scenes in this anime and almost NO nudity. Sure, there's partial nudity in one scene and one scene where a character is seen naked from a distance, but it's so brief and undetailed that it doesn't really matter and doesn't affect the storyline at all.
In fact, I'd say most of this series

is quite funny. The antics of the innocent and clueless Chi brought a smile to my face and brigtened my mood. Of course, the gangly and easily-excitable Hideki Motosuwa also contributed to my enjoyment of this series.
The story takes a darker turn closer to the end, and it left me excited and wanted to watch the final episodes one after the other right away. There are shockers in the end of the storyline. I thought something was coming, but I just didn't know what. Not at all. This series is full of surprises.
Going back to the misconception of "perversion with computers", this anime has a storyline. A storyline with many elements. If you are looking for perversion and no plot, go look for a hentai doujinshi. Seriously.
Chobits will not have that.

This show is sad, happy, triumphant and beautiful. You will probably cry at least once at some point during the show. That being said, it's not necessary to say that this show's plot is conveyed well so that you feel the emotion it is supposed to make you feel.
The animation is crisp and shows motion very well. The shadows and highlights are done perfectly, but it's not overpowering. Kyoto Animation did a wonderful job animating this series. So well, that the art surpasses the quality of that from the visual novel it is based on.
Each of the characters are unique
...
and have a very interesting story to tell. Although it is obivous that Misuzu's story is the most important one, do not let the others go without the same amount of attention. On the contrary. Each of them are wonderful and worthwhile, as well as enjoyable.
The soundtrack of this anime is perfect, meaning it guides the story and helps you feel the mood of the story. The opening theme reflects the content of the show very well, and that is based on the audio alone. The ending theme song is somewhat lacking, but that's not very important, as it is what ends each episode instead of starting it off.
Overall, this anime is beautiful, a very carefully constructed piece of art that is refreshing and warms you up.

This manga is what you'd call a mixed bag. Those of you who have read it know what a mean. There are many different issues, themes and such all mixed into one and it makes for a truly wonderful combination.
This series has few flaws, and small ones at that.
All the characters were good, more or less, exept for maybe Kakeru, Yuki's "evil friend". I think the series would have been better if he wasn't stuck in there. I think he was an eyesore and a very bad example of the kind of friend somebody should have.
The head of the

Sohma family, Akito, was more likeable as the series goes on to almost every extent, but for a while when I was closer to the end, Akito wasn't too appealing to me. I think this may have been caused by a bit of a shock revealed in Volume 17.
The art of this manga is pretty good, although like pretty much any manga, there were parts where it could have been better and would have been more appealing to look at.
I laughed quite a bit at different parts of the series, from beginning to end. There is plenty of comedy, and good comedy at that. It never gets into the really gritty comedy you sometimes see on modern-day American TV shows and the like, and for that I am greatful. Clean humour is the best humour.
As the characters begin to tell us more of their story and their pasts are revealed, it feels more and more like a veil has been pushed away from your face and you can see clearly. Pieces of the puzzle that were there at the beginning of the series lock into place with the new things to put everything together.
I'm sure it's impossible for anybody not to go through this series without shedding a few tears. I cried at different parts, but the one that got me the most were the last 2 or 3 pages of the last chapter. It got me. The ending was so beautiful and happy, I couldn't help it. I felt my self thinkg "Oh my god. Oh my god." It was a surprise, yet great.
However, a few stones were left unturned at the end, but maybe that's what the writer wanted. Afterall, this was ultimatly the story of Tohru, not the other characters.
Overall, I think anybody who hasn't yet touched this series should give it a go. I can almost guarantee you will like it. The chapters seem to flow by and you really get to know the characters. At the end, it feels like letting go of old friends.
