Hinowa, the weird uncle of the AgK universe mangas. Its ok, but it seems to be picking up pace in the latest chapters!
TLDR: Hinowa is a pretty flawed manga, that is loosely connected to AgK. If you've got an open mind it's worth checking out. If you are the type of person who cant stand any really big flaws and is thinking of just checking it out since you like AgK don't waste your time.
It doesnt even vaguely feel like AgK or AgKZ, and there are very few story links, as Akame herself has taken a spot in quite the backlines. So anyways - feel

- Hinowa feels different to AgK in outright everything, the atmosphere is completely changed, the battles focus a lot on strategy and teamwork rather than the superpowered duels of AgK and teigu are nowhere to be seen. The artstyle is not a welcome change in my eyes, but to each their own. I think like half the characters look like strange frog creatures. Though the panels flow much better and the overall detail has been improved by a good amount.
There is also a genuine problem with sex scenes - yes really! "Sex scenes? That seems like such a menial thing to care about" you're thinking - exactly! It is! So imagine how bloody bad they must be for me to have to mention this! There is fanservice like *never before* in AgK and it's there constantly and it absolutely KILLS the tone every time this happens!! It's horrible, there are times where we get full three page scenes with different poses and ahegao not even 2 chapters apart! And my god is it uncomfortable! Strelka and Takahiro are some absurdly horny dudes! Luckily this dies down in the later chapters.
A welcome change is in the characters, there really isnt any moseying around with half-baked villains. From the get-go we get a much more colorful array of characters, and especially the villains, I was glad Hinowa skipped the filler kills and went straight towards well built-up intimidating people with plenty of quirks to their name who get a nice amount of time on-screen.
A big change in content shows up in the manga's latest 15 chapters, as the non-stop fighting stops and the characters split-up into 3 main storylines, and we start getting a nice picture of the inner workings of everything and everyone.

I really do not understand the rating on this one. It's a simple good vs. bad story that starts in one end and ends in the other without many complications. There is nothing wrong with that in my opinion.
I think the 3D animation looks pretty minimalistic and there isn't much about it to dislike except some strange camera movement every once in a while, the fight scenes are as simple and pleasant as the rest of the movie.

I noticed the music and sound design in particular is quite funky, though I note it does not tonally fit at all, I still liked it.
It's an experience as simple, pleasant and digestible as milk and cookies.

I genuinely enjoyed this more than the actual first season of AoT. Im a sucker for filler episodes. What can I say? Seeing characters just dick around, and interact with each-other in ways not seen in the show is very appealing to me. Especially since the focus of all these episodes are my personal favourite characters, Hanji, Jean, and Sasha. Im glad Hanji especially got some spotlight, she got thrown under the rug in the show, and she's such a badass!
I kind of doubt somebody not holding the same stance as me would have the same opinion though, basically nothing of importance happens, I think

there's nothing wrong with that, other probably won't. Well, except one pretty huge thing-that I won't spoil, it happens right in the first episode so see it for yourself!
Story- 3/10 -As I said, nothing happens
Art - 10/10 -As with the regular show, the animation is just as outstanding as ever
Sound -10/10 -Fantastic as ever
Characters -8/10 -The characters in the regular show are 7/10 in my opinion, since the OVA features on my personal favourites though, im rating it higher.
Enjoyment -10/10 -Pretty much exactly what I've been looking for
Overall -9/10

Yeah it's pretty OK, I enjoyed it for the most part-
I think it's meant to be an incredibly selfish fight of ego between two forces, Tanya-A sociopath with a god complex, and "Being X"-God himself...with a god complex. Who will end countless lives in their quarrel. Tanya will never worship god, because she believes god is a pointless asshole. God cannot handle somebody being unfaithful, and will manipulate the world itself to make Tanya's life a living hell.
Characters: More like character, singular, that being the oh-so hateable Tanya, with a quest to live a peaceful life to spite god, she decides to manipulate her way

through the rankings of...the fucking military-widely known for providing peaceful lives! This is, a massive oversight and I have no idea what they were thinking. Her goal is an interesting one for a villain.
The problem with the characters in this show...is the lack there of, literally everybody except Tanya has not been developed-no backstory, no motivation, no ideology, no plans for the future, if you took any pair of characters from the show and put them in a room, you could not imagine how they would interact at all.
Art: I have to say the OP and ED are very cool, with the way they use the REALLY nice looking manga art, but the animation in the show itself is....decent, I like the expressivness of faces, especially handy for a visual aid in showing Tanya's dementedness.
Sound: Hard to judge, I think the OP and ED are quite catchy, but that's something too subjective to say. Voice acting is just fine and they sell their characters well enough. The explosions and gunshots sound punchy I guess?
