Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu or BokuYaba for convenience sake started very cringeworthy.
Our protagonist Ichikawa is a pretty good representation of an edgy middle schooler, while Yamada is a literal model of a middle schooler. BokuYaba starts off very slow with minimal interaction from the main leads. They would eventually interact and shenanigans ensues. Ichikawa as a character is personally very relatable. even wants to kill her. Eventually, Ichikawa as a person starts to grow and understand Yamada. All in all, BokuYaba is a journey of character development.
The story is presented in a light-hearted way. Often times it's comedic but it can be serious too. BokuYaba has a collection of quite interesting supporting characters. Ichikawa and Yamada has a very enjoyable dynamic between them. Do mind that there's a lot of sexual innuendos sprinkled throughout the series. The animation is also very smooth even for a Slice of Life anime, thank you Shin-Ei Animation. The opening and ending were also very nice to listen too.
If you like slice-of-life romance with subtle developments, then this is the right anime for you. Though Ichikawa's edgy thoughts may deter you, I assure you it's quite worth the watch.

So I was searching for a heartwarming SoL/Romance manga and I saw someone at r/anime recommend this manga (I owe you one whoever that was). As many before me has said, I feel that this is a highly underrated hidden gem.
Story: 8
I'd give the story higher but it's a damn episodic 4-koma so 8 is good enough. The story basically entails a group of friends going through the years of high school. comedic feel-good manga. Reading this manga actually makes me a bit depressed since I never had the experience of a normal high-school (much thanks COVID-19). The ending is nice for what it is, though I really wanted that one last chapter the author described. Shame she went through some health issues. I wonder how the people who followed this series for 6 years feel, I kinda want to feel it.

The art is just perfect for this kind of story. The character designs perfectly encapsulates their personality. Something I can't get enough of this manga is the expressions. Some of them just makes me laugh out loud. Also the ahoge, it's literally one of the most expressive things I ever saw in manga format.

Oooooooooooh God, I love the characters so much. It's got a great set of characters and side-characters. The main duo (Shizuku and Yoichi) goes on a subtle but evident character development. Shizuku is a sheltered girl who has lived almost half of her life inside her house. Meeting Yoichi was basically a turn of fate for her. Yoichi has a scary face but is actually very kind and overprotective of Shizuku. Their dynamic are so cute to watch. The other cast are also very nice. Moe, Jun, and Ainoki has their own spice. Their own romance growth was also quite interesting to read. And then we have Class Rep who is actually a very closet otaku but is always helpful to those around her. Last but not least, there's Seki-san who suffers from the same fate as Yoichi. Can't forget Shizuku's sister and Yoichi's aunt. They're great.

I would recommend this manga for anyone who'd like a feel-good heartwarming manga. Obviously the story is kinda flawed but that is really genre-flaws (it's 4-koma). Otherwise, it's a very character-driven story about a group of friends that you can enjoy. I laughed quite often when reading this manga, and some moments just makes you feel good. Truly a hidden gem I'd say, never thought I'd find something for Kirara this amusing

When you ask me, "What is the definitive modern harem-show which is actually good?", I will point you to this show. This is it, a harem series with actual satisfactory ending.
All the build-up from previous seasons has reached this point, this is the conclusion. I must confess, the story is not complex but has a certain charm to it. That's something you can expect from Maruto's series, though I rather avoid the other well-known one. The story actually has characters with actual gripe and believable problems. of this series is it's characters. I would say this is the only if not few harem series which has a cast of likable character. I genuinely never disliked any of the heroines. Utaha Kasumigaoka is the typical senpai femme fatale that you commonly see in harem anime. Sawamura Eriri is the classic tsundere blonde-haired childhood friend that you also find quite often in this meta. These two characters are build on common tropes but Maruto's writing elevate them from just common tropes into actual likeable characters. In any other harem romance they would be easily best girl, not in this show though. For me and maybe many others, the shining star of this anime is Megumi Katou. The titular protagonist, the so called boring heroine, she is the exact definition of anti-meta. She might be the most ordinary unexceptional, blandest, and normal heroine ever. But everytime she's there, she steals the show. She's the epitome of character progression, eventually becoming what in my opinion is best girl. I mean it's literally called How to Raise a BORING GIRLFRIEND. You just gotta watch her through the course of the show, it's quite the experience. The voice actor for her also really elevates her character even further, don't get me wrong the other heroines are also great. It's just that Megumi's voice is something that I think has a sprinkle of uniqueness that no other character has. The other heroines' voice acting are also immensely talented. Now about the main character, Aki Tomoyo is quite annoying. But fret not, I'd say that his scumminess and delusions of the MC is actually what elevates Katou even further. They are made for each other. He is the sharp to Megumi's flat which makes them natural, nuff said. Isn't that quite poetic Oh and also being voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka is a plus, but like what harem protagonist isn't voiced by him? I ALSO HAS TO MENTION THE INSERT SONGS. They are BRILLIANT, ABOSULETELY BRILLIANT. Especially Ultimate Flat and Eternal Flat, give them another hear after the movie they're great. The art and animation is also consistent and has a unique charm about them. CloverWorks took over production from A-1 but they're essentialy the same studio so that doesn't really mater. Anyway, the art is breathtaking especially the ending scene (not the after-credit), even though I still prefer Kurehito's artwork. Props to CloverWorks, they just adapted a ton of volumes into a movie and still made it work.
In the end, I really enjoyed this one even though I'm a self-proclaimed anti harem guy. That's saying something

One day, you see the title of the anime. You think to yourself, "Damn another incest anime." As such, I wish to nominate the series for most misleading title and most misleading first minute of the anime to this anime. True, this anime isn't for everyone and especially not for childrens. It has over-the-top sexual and fetish jokes. It's there, but it's not the main point of the series.
I wouldn't watch this anime for the story, this is anime you'd watch for the characters. If you don't enjoy the characters, then you won't enjoy this anime
Maybe you have realised since the first 5 minutes of

the show, but this is a weird show. This weird show is equipped with equally weird characters. The protagonist is very unique and he likes little sisters a bit too much. Nayuta is very pervy. Miyako seems to just go along with them. Haruto seems a bit normal compared to the rest. And lastly Chihiro, "he" is the little brother of the protagonist and a very caring character. Don't forget about the side characters though, they also come with their share of quirky personalities. So as I said, you watch this anime for the characters. As for the actual story.....
The main point of this series is to see the life of an author. This series describes the up and downs of the author's life, but it also brings comedy into play. The comedy is not for everyone, but I enjoy it. I'm a fan of fanservice, but I didn't really enjoy the excessive fanservice the series has. I did enjoy the games though. This series is actually deeper than it seems. It has character developments and doesn't just mess around for 12 episodes. I am also a sucker for cute characters. I would recommend to give it at least a try.
Anyway, another thing to point out is. There are some differences between the source material (light novel) and the anime. The anime also left the ending at a very awkward spot. Since Season 2 is unlikely, it's just gonna stay awkward. So I recommend you to read the novels instead. It's illustrated by Kantoku and it's great.
(Also, this has a catchy opening. I like it.)

Absolutely amazing! A-1 has outdid themselves with this adaptation. They didn't skip anything, rather they added onto existing plot points. The story are told brilliantly. It covers a dark theme of racism, slavery, and war. If you would like something truly different, then this is the one for you. Animation is great. While I won't say that the character designs are perfect, it really is awesome. It brings me joy seeing the characters I see in Light Novels move. BGM hits hard. It really complement the scenes. The scenes A-1 added brought more life into the characters. Do note that 86 is a story that is headlined by its characters. From the beginning of the series to the end of the series, the development of the characters are one of the aspect I enjoy best. Each characters has minor or even major developments. This is truly an adaptation that won't disappoint light novel fans.
By the way, did you know that 86 is an actual term that by definition means to "throw something out". I just found that very interesting.

Other than AmaBuri. I recently decided to rewatch Working (Wagnaria), but the alternate version. Why? I'd like to say that I am more attached to this series than the original one. Why? Primarily because I like the main couple more. Anyway the story is SoL-Romance-Comedy. It's really fun, but it's a bit jumpy. A-1 did a good job of animating this. I really enjoyed this. One of the old animes I watched but didn't remember. Simply say, I was surprised I never rewatched this. The comedy is brilliant, but the drama should not be missed. There's not much Romance here but there are indeed a lot of character developments. KyoAni adaptation style usually revolves around sticking different chapters of different volume together. For example this adaptation has bits and pieces from Volume 1, 2, and even 3. Thankfully it's still made into a condusive story so that's not that big of a problem. KyoAni is very consistent with their animation and I appreciate it. The animation is always very smooth

and that adds to the enjoyment. Thanks Akino from Bless4 for making one of my most memorable anime opening ever, the ending is also good though. And characters! The characters has downright amazing chemistry. They just seem like a very good cast. There are also some character development included, but if you are more into that I'd really recommend reading the novels. It's not wrong to say that I really-really enjoyed this adaptation. So much that I instantly read the novels. I'd suggest you a try if you like comedy and a sprinkle of drama.

Ah Maoyuu, I remember watching this as a kid and now I've decided to rewatch it. The title entails what the story exactly is. There is some highlight throughout the series. Maybe this was skipped from the LN but the worldbuilding was severely lacking, it just didn't feel like I knew the world. The main selling point here is the romance, it's very good. I must say, I am a sucker for military-romance political themed anime. Anyway, the first 20 episodes are very very great. They skipped a lot of things from the novel, but nothing too major. Expect great romance development. The last few episodes are very rushed though. Animation are great, battle scenes are well animated. Character designs also represent what their character are. I really liked the OST that kept playing through the series, I just felt that it fits with every scene. Maybe it's just that epic. this anime has a very large cast of characters. One thing that must be pointed out is, Theo's amazing character development. I also like that he is able to take the initiative unlike some other fantasy protagonist. Siluca is a great complement to Theo. The seiyuus were also able to portray their character well. I really enjoyed this series. And when I say I enjoyed it, it means that I watched 24 episodes in 2 days. Just try to watch it, if it's not your cup of tea, that's fine. I also just realized the miniscule number of warfare anime.

My most anticipated sequel, only took 2 years. I think they switched up the sequence a bit. It definitely started a bit slow, but it ended very strong. The adaptation failed to capture some of brilliant scenes from the manga or even the light novel. But its certainly isn't a bad adaptation. Animation are fluid and very good. I'd be surprised if it weren't, since its like the only project 8bit worked on for like 2 years. I really like the character designs for newer chracters. as previous but nonetheless still very sweet. Rimuru's voice actor achieved some pretty great scenes and Diablo is plain cool. Rimuru has once again become more mature and less naive. Will wait how they decide to adapt Diablo in the second cour. I really really enjoyed this season. Although it started slow, the ending delivered.
