Oh, man. I writing this just because I can't stand it anymore.
Yes, the anime is nice. In fact, really nice. Kongming is awesome. The story is great and funny. The art, for most part, outstanding. I mean I even said "whoa" out loud and I never do that. Or rarely. I'm talking about the dance from the episode 11. The choreography was bad (or meh), but the moves were smooth and realistic looking. And now fast-forward to the part why I'm writing this.
The music is lousy. That OP is trashy. I know people have different tastes and it should not be a subject for disscusion
...
but cmon... It is catchy, it is entertaining, it is enjoyable, fine, whatever floats your boat. But don't call it amazing! I get it. These 1 summer Ibiza hits are all the rave for young people with fleeting feelings. This "life is short, I must live it to the fullest" and go the extra-mile because they don't know any other way. In fact, the ED was decent. I don't remember it, but I know it was better than the OP :))) Ok, moving on. Next, the bland Eiko. Both visually and singing. Fine, not really bland when you go for blond hair and blue eyes, yet still... bland. I can't think of her any other way. And the songs too. Especially the episode 8. Or was it 9? Next, lets talk about "Dreamer", the song that was supposed to be the "whoa". Man, what a let down. I mean I rather enjoyed the "Underworld" one. That one was really good. Not the bits where the singing voice was trying to put extra-feeling in order to make it sound more powerful. But even so, it was good.
Honestly, this felt like a promoting anime for some up-and-coming idols. I don't know, I won't check. If we could separate/eliminate the singings parts, like I said, the anime is awesome. The art, the story, the voice acting. Up until they tried to put the singing the main dish. Lousy songs, lousy singing. Not even the rapping was good. But I've seen rapping of same level in other anime, so I think thats how it is in Japan.
So, yes. Overall you will enjoy this anime.

Because it is about ballet, I'm sure the snobs will acclaim this anime with standing ovations (see what I did there?).
The anime is oki. Definitely above mediocre, it is about personal tastes I guess. I grew up in the world of arts, so I've found some enjoyable parts, but just some. I watch anime because I like watching anime and I don't care if it is isekai or not, harem or not, slow pace or not, overpowered MC or not. It is all about "how good the story is".
Well, the story is meh. I mean it is decent but with a couple of needless complications,
...
just for the sake to keep the story rolling. And that made the whole thing less enjoyable. The art is good, but sometimes with some weird drawings, like their eyes or the super long neck. And I hate that overused "sparkle-sparkle, boom!". I understand that you need something like that to make the scenes stand out but c'mon... The soundtrack is nice, obviously. Let's see, what else? Well, like I've said, it is an oki anime. The only thing that annoys me, as in any other anime (and/or its source), is the coupling. Be it the wrong ones, or the lack of. The story is progressing nicely until the last 2 episodes, when they fk it up. I'm sure its for the additional drama, for new things to talk about in the second season/volume, for character's development or whatever. Well, for me, those last 2 episodes destroyed the whole experience. The chemistry, the funny bits, all of it down the drain. I'm sure they still are into eachother and that sometime later they will rediscover "themselves" (lets go with that), but when the story is destroyed just for the sake to make it look more interesting, to keep the readers/viewers hooked, hoping for the "right" couple to be "together, at least"... Well, then "fk u"! I don't care how good a story is, the potential or whatever. These cheep tricks make the difference between a good or a lousy writer. And I personally hope these authors get sent to jail or fined, I dunno, something to get them in pain. Or hit by truck-kun.
So, lets go for some scores:
Story: 8/10 I guess. Most of the times, it is ok.
Art: 8/10 I guess. Again. You keep focusing on those eyes and that means you'll not see the whole picture. I don't know if thats a trademark from the source material but they could've made it less noticeable for the anime. Also, those long necks. Being a dance (or rather an art) related anime, I know why they went for that, but still. And I hate the overused "sparkle-sparkle" thing. What else? No fan service. Not even while jumping, in a skirt, with wind around? Cmon... I don't think THAT would've dropped the anime's level they were aiming for...
Characters: 7/10. I understand what makes every character perform in an certain way. For the most part. The last 2 episodes made their motives and way of thinking unrealistic.
Music: 8/10. The OP and ED are likable. The classical bits were gorgeous, obviously. While I'm not a ballet fan, I do listen to classical music on a day by day basis. Ok, maybe less. Fine, a couple a times per year. But I do enjoy it.
Return value: 4/10. Knowing what will happen in the last 2 episodes, I don't know. Maybe I would force myself to watch until the end of the episode 8 (for the doki-doki part) and then I'd stop, starting to get angry because I'd remember how the writer destroyed the story. Sorry but I can't get over it.
And thats about it. A nice anime, some nice art, mostly when trying to express the grace of movements. And the feather visuals. Fine, the decorum and the characters were also nicely colored. If you wish to watch this anime, keep a low bar. Maybe you won't be put off by its ending, in which case, great! And if you'll feel like me, you were warned so you won't feel too dejected.
Have a nice day.

"OMG! Finally someone succeeded in creating something good!"
That was my first thought when i saw the anime. The art, the story, the dialogue, the world... All of them were something I've always longed for but never found.
This is one of those times when the anime is better than the source material. You might want to check that out. Don't do it! After the 3rd volume it messes the things completely. Especially the couples. Sometimes I wish there were some tags like "wrong couples" or "annoying white-haired main heroine" (or am I the only one who thought that about Akashic Records or Ansatsu Kizoku, huh?). But
...
I digress.
The world, the art, the storytelling... They are all top-notch. 10/10.
I don't care if it is isekai or not, if it is harem or not, if the chars are overpowered or not, if the pace is slow or not, it is all about "how good is the story". Like I've said, the world of Grimgar is fantastic. It is something any RPG lover would feel like home. And then they went higher and gave us one of the most amazing art styles. Again, better than whats in the LN (some "cute" distorted characters, no world view). And there's the pace, the struggles, the fight scenes. It's all good.
The soundtrack it nice. I don't know what more to say about it. Not really something to remember, but definitely didn't bother.
I've enjoyed this series a lot. I was hoping for a 2nd season but after reading the source, I hope we'll never get it. Unless they change the story. Oki, one more season would be ok. I think. maybe. If the stop right after Volume 3. Otherwise its a hard "NO, ty".
From time to time I keep re-watching this show, even 2 times per year, because I miss the story and the graphics. The art, man! Until I remember how the author fked it up and robbed us of something that could've been the foundation of a new era. And the worst part is that this anime helped him make more money. He "lied" to us with those beautiful 3 volumes.
Anyway, yes, it is a must watch show. Don't read the LN. Just enjoy the anime. Thats all. Have a nice evening.

"OMG! Finally someone succeeded in creating something good!"
That was my first thought when i saw the anime. The art, the story, the dialogue, the world... All of them were something I've always longed for but never found.
So, after the anime ended, of course I had to read the source material to find out what happens next.
Like I've said, the world of Grimgar is fantastic. It is something any RPG lover would feel like home. And after reading the 1st volume "Afterword", I was like "huh, this author sounds like me". I was reading volume 3 and I was imagining how the anime would look like.
...
"oh, nice. Oh, so this is the perfect way to end the season. And the next one can start like this.. I can already see it. Uuuuuhhh, its gonna be great!" Well, all I can say spoiler-free, is that the books go downhill after volume 3. Or starting with volume 4. And the reason is: the couples. At a first glance it might look like something that shouldn't impact the story too much. Wrong! You can have dragons, a normal guy or a genius doing heroic feats, you can kill some dear characters and still it will work itself out. But if you put the wrong people together, well, that's the part that makes or breaks a masterpiece. Or should. These days its all about forums and novel clubs and whatnot. "OMG! You watched the anime but you haven't read the source?" And the "tricked" person will praise the same bad things of the novel to other persons and so on, and so on. By volume 6 I was almost shouting "Oh, c'mon! How could you screw it up that hard? WTF?!?". And I won't even start with the whole inner monologue. Some people might say that's for character development. Those people would be wrong. Very wrong! I usually don't care if is isekai or not, if it is harem or not, if the chars are overpowered or not, if the pace is slow or not, but when you copy/paste the same damn inner monologue over and over again, well, that's where I draw the line. Again. It was cute for the first volumes. Even understandable. I mean I could see the struggles and understand why. I was oki even with the very slow pace. The changes don't happen overnight. I get it. But changes do happen, even for a mediocre person. The way the MC is described as. So when you get to the final arc and and the inner monologue is the same... But hey, the author made some quick buck with every new volume, even if the story is s**t. "Hmm... Should I make him a bit smarter? Learning from his past mistakes? Well the deadline its too soon I can't be bothered to think about that now. Lets copy/paste the same thing over and over, but in a new decorum. I really need that money to keep flowing in until I figure it out..."
By the end, the loser (author) starts to pick up the pace of the events, but the "writing" is the same (horrible), tries to manipulate the reader's feelings with some nonsense character killings, the art is more and more on the way to ecchi (not a bad thing, obviously, but why now? You've finally figured it out that you can't attract readers with the story anymore?). Anyway, you get the gist.
World: 10/10. Spectacular!
Art: 6/10. Meh. Its only about characters. And even that is not top-grade. I mean, if you went for "lets draw some cute characters and hope it will attract readers", you could at least make sure the drawings/proportions are the same. The last volumes are even worse, trying to keep the readers hooked with sexier drawings (if the writings sucks, what else can you do?)
Couples: 2/10. The author messed up big time.
Return value: only if you can stop to Volume 3. It is better to just watch the anime.
In the end, all I can say is that I had high hopes and unfortunately it feels like I was robbed of something precious. It would be nice if authors could get sent to jail.
You know, it is funny. I keep writing this review and I keep breaking down 'cause I remember how he destroyed something that could've been the foundation of a new era for this genre. I've never did this, but he's the first person I'd spit in his face and then look at him with utter disgust.
Anyway, do yourself a favor and watch the anime, read the first volumes and then stop. I know we want an ending, some closure, but don't. What I mostly regret is that the author made money after me. He tricked me (and probably many more) with his first volumes. For the first time in my life I wish some fanfic would appear, canon the first 3 volumes and correct this mess.
With a bit of luck, we'll never get a new season. But if we do, lets hope they change the story.

Great potential, wasted. I think this is the first anime that gave me headaches. I am a bit conflicted as to whether this is a nice or a bad anime. I guess it depends on your past experience. Or maybe its a marketing thing: a wrong ending to make us check the original source. If you wanna know what this anime is about, read the synopsis. I wont copy/paste it just to make the review feel bigger.
Story: __. Well, this is the part that troubles me. I wont be able to go into specifics because spoilers. I loved this anime since first episode. Lots
...
of funny scenes. But also, here is where the "weird" part starts. As the story unfolds, you start to like this anime more and more. And at the same time you'll start feeling angry. You can't fully enjoy it because of the periodic brakes. Or at least thats how it went for me. And I think thats because they shipped the wrong girl. I would say that the story was oki for the most part. I mean the idea behind it. The pacing, too, for the most part. But if you try shipping a lousy girl, thats a no-no for me. What else? Its a story about mental trauma i guess. I'm sure they meant it as a character's background, but c'mon... Depending on the level of intensity you could say there are 7 characters having some kind of a mental distress. Sure, by the end all of them are "cured", but still..
Art: 7. The visuals are oki, with the usual bright colors. The animation and the 3D spacing are a bit off (you know, like talking to the MC but the eyes are watching somewhere behind him), but it wont impact the viewing experience.
Sound: 7. It was oki, I guess. The voice acting was pretty good. It delivered the scenes. I don't remember the OP or ED, but nothing out-of-place. I'd say the average OP, ED, background musical pieces you'd expect from this kind of anime.
Character: 8. Apart from the annoying loli and the annoying tsundere childhood friend, the characters were pretty much oki. As a bonus, you even get a beer drinking hot young teacher. Or is it the extremely funny yaoi? Take your pick :) Even if the motives are retarded, the characters' developments are well done. I may not agree with what they do, but I can understand where it comes from. And I'd say thats an important trait.
Enjoyment: 5. The story is really nice for the first eight episodes. Or nine, if you wanna include a panties-shot. I'm saying "nice", but don't forget about the equally growing shit-storm for every passing episode. It helped me understand where that "flipping table" meme comes from.
Overall: 3. It all boils down to your life experience: if you were in the same situation, then you'll click with its ending, you'll be rooting for them. Maybe. Eight nice episodes and then the pacing gets rushed, the story starts to fail, idiotic logic just for the sake of closing the plot.
So: will you stop watching after 8 episodes? Then this is a nice anime. Are you the kind of person (like we all are) that needs to see it to the end? Too bad then.. Disappointment on the way.

I came here to warn people about this hoax, but after reading some reviews of my fellow companions, I've decided to keep it short. Shorter..
Don't waste your time. You know that "you should watch it and decide for yourself"? It doesn't apply here. Seriously. I've seen reviews with ratings of 7, 9. even 10!?! WTF?!? It made me think we haven't all watched the same anime. Fortunately, most of the reviewers got it right: 1. And that was a mercy. I gave a rating of 2 'cause I'm a sucker for visuals.(And some of it really caught my eye). But
...
still not worth watching. Plus, I really hate these kind of stories: annoying af (loli) nun with "powers", mc starts to care (or even falls) for her, even though there are better girls around. Yeah, I'm looking at you, Toaru Majutsu no Index.
Still here? Fine.
Lousy plot. In the sense that there isn't one. Not a viable one. Yeah, sure, some funny scenes, but still not good enough or a lot of them to help a lil' bit.
Visuals? Sure, some.
Soundtrack? OP, ED? I came here after watching it 20 min ago and, I kid you not, I can't remember those. Oh, and that lousy piano part in the 3rd episode? Or was it 4th? Trying to get the feelings moving. And failing. Oh, and speaking of the author trying to trick you, the scenes collage of Kyouko and her mom... I'm sure it was meant to get at least a tear out of my/our eyes. All it got was me, looking mentally drained. Oh, there was a photo there that caught my eye: them both at the beach, i think. And I was thinking "Really? You couldn't even draw her mom without the t-shirt on?? Because the story is so good that it doesn't need an eye refresher, right?" Lets see, what else?
Character. Yeah, right. :))) You know Bella, Twilight? Thats better than this. I know! It is saying a lot about this... this... Oh, nevermind.
Overall, if you watched everything else and you have nothing better to do, still DON'T watch this! Better re-watch some fav anime. Cya.
