Being the lesser known of Fall 2017, Code: Realize (CR) has been one of the underdogs of this season. One of the main reason is the decreased of otome game fans in this last few years. Being left fall behind with a low mean score also reflects MAL's demography. Realize probably won't become popular, no. "It won't be popular enough." in MAL. (since male viewers avoid large cast of bishies), and the fact that it has been adapted from otome game also join the cause.
As I see the poster, I thought Realize will be another of one of those reverse harem with cute

bishies and a little 19th-century vibe to it. But after the first half, I realize Realize:
"This show is underrated."
If we imagine it, Realize can be depicted as a new recipe to make a fresh topping for pizza. Bringing a fresh idea makes this anime unique.
The story is about Cardia Beckford, a girl with a deadly poison in her body, everything she touches can be melted, and thus she lives alone sheltered until she met a man named Arsene Lupin, a thief who brings her to London.
"Classical but fresh." also another phrase for Realize, it can be done well. The only big matter of this kind of anime is how to make a proper adaptation from this 30+ hour of gameplay. Realize pacing can be much better if it planned to be a two-cour so it can justice that hours of gameplay. Realize story revolves fast, but not in the condition where we confused to understand its story (like Occultic; Nine for example). But despite the lack of pacing, the anime drives its plot in the right direction.
The animation has been handled by M.S.C. studio (which is a quite less-known studio who works only for Tennis no Oujisama). One thing I adore is the character design, they've been done beautifully (especially for Cardia and Hellsing), the animation is not as fluid nor perfect as modern anime these days, but it manages to meet its standard.
In case of sound settings, voice actors did a very well job to bring every character alive. Background sound was decent, not a top-notch. While the opening (kalmia by Mia Regina) & ending (twinkle by Saori Hayami itself) really matching with the story atmosphere.
In terms of character, Cardia Beckford really shines as a heroine. Why? It's because she can break the sacred rules of a useless heroine. She can come in handy for the rest of the team instead always acting like 'damsel in distress'. While the rest of the bishies are cookie-cutter, they are somehow related to Cardia's past and some of them have their own past as well.
In the end Code: Realize has proven its worth until this episode. Last but not least, I would say that this show isn't for everyone. But I would comfortable to say to the readers (especially Josei and Otome Game fans) that:
"Don't trust the mean score, trust your own feelings and give it a go."

The world has been connected with the international network since the edge of the 20th century, online chatting and online games have been one of 'everyday chores' until this period, we indirectly communicate with each other to gather information, play, or just to chat. The online communities keep growing larger and larger, and whenever a community grows larger, some potential can be noticed (look at MAL for example).

The anime is a good example of 'Good anime didn't need certain complexity to be enjoyable'. With that simplistic concept, this anime didn't need a long time to make us (the audience), feel attached to the story and characters in the series. It may be not as original as we hope, but the execution was marvelous. It flows easily and perfectly placed without forcing it to be understandable. The anime makes us want to see more even though the art and sound itself is not as god-tier as other anime these days. Characters are awesome, main characters interaction is always more interesting than we could ever expect. I believe these lovebirds personality can fill each other blackness.
Overall, Net-Juu no Susume is perfect for those who like light-hearted. Watching it won't be a burden for you and it should give you more than it could be.

Light novels have been a popular adaptation these days, there are dozens of anime that have been adapted from this. It has been one of the best solutions to decrease the over-dominance of manga in the past. It's a good strategy, though. But I should say that "adapting literature into an anime is not an easy work".
Why? Because the director has to adjust a hundred pages of story into a fit 24 minutes per episode in a limited one-cour (or two-cour if they lucky to have that time), with the same feeling & content of the literature itself. Many anime failed to bring

this to the screen. And what I thought about Occultic; Nine is similar as I stated above. Occultic; Nine has failed to wrap both story and characters in its adaptation.
The story somewhat brings us into certain cases of death with many supernatural elements haunt them. The story tries to persuade us to see from a different perspective in supernatural things, the 'there is nothing that can't be proved by science' theme is actually a neat theme, in my opinion, it has its own noteworthy in my mind.
One thing that disturbs me is the pacing. After 8 years I watch Japanese anime, I've never seen a character talks like it has been fast forwarded 2x by a remote. It is really ruined the entire feels about the anime. I could see that sometimes I must rewind the minute bar in order to understand the story. Another cancer that this anime has is the ineffective information dumping. The story struggles to throw much information to make us more understand. But what we got is an enormous endless wave of information with fast forwarded dialogues and heavy feelings which make the story's full of plot holes.
I could honestly say that the ending is not so good at all. It felt really rushed and poorly wrapped episodes of calamity and ends with an all-happy cliche nonsense ending.
The animation is in the hand of one of the most prestigious studios in Japan, the A-1 Pictures. Is not that because I hate the story (or the studio), but the art itself failed to bring a meaningful contribution to the anime. It was poorly done, it just like the characters has been blended with the color of the background, like it has the same texture. It is really different from other works that the studio has done in the past, really less-colorable with dark colors has been the dominance.
Characters, from what I saw is also has been poorly-handed, especially our main character, Gamon Yuuta. It still follows a 'hero wannabe' stereotype character that hasn't have a single meaningful character development. Other characters are cookie cutter, almost seems to be random & feels a lack of originality. Villains felt one-dimensional, without having a single purpose on their actions. The problem is the anime was too busy to bring us it world building while abandoned the in-depth character development, which makes it more vulnerable.
The only fairly accepted elements is the sound settings. Both opening & ending are lovely to hear. While I can't say anything except 'disappointed' for the voice actors & their fast forwarded role. I never heard such character talks like that before.
While in some minutes, I found out that this anime actually succeed in bringing mystery elements, I felt the mystery thingy in my mind, thirst to make me wanted to know what's comes up next. While in some minutes, I felt the 'rushed' things is also annoying. In the same time, it makes you want to continue it or dropped it in a weird mixture of feelings.
In the end, watching Occultic; Nine is one of the worst ways to end a year. It is obviously not recommended if you seeks a deep sci-fi/mystery anime. It leads our mind to a desperate situation where you struggle to understand it but the story doesn't give you any chance to understands it, a total wasted potential because of a bad execution. It just another pitiful attempt to adapt a light novel.

During this period, the anime industry suffers "Material lacks". Ideas are getting narrower but productions are getting wider. Many companies suffer to bankruptcy, and to anticipate this they must broaden the marketing ground. In order to broaden it, they throw many adaptations to stabilized the situation. Because of it, there is dozens adaptation appear in various sources. One of those sources is game. But the truth is until this period, not many game adaptation live up to its expectation.
Divine Gate, is a smartphone game developed by Acquire. While the animation is in the hand of Studio Pierrot. As the series went, there are some flaws

that can be spotted.
As the story goes, they do throw out dozens of information to construct the world building. Unfortunately, it failed. There are too many things unexplained things and the story doesn't start explaining things but keep throwing information dump, hoping the viewer felt a mystery thingy. And if it's too late to explain those things, this can cause a backfire to the plot and can wreck any of the plot elements, make the story felt pointless. All of the elements could be floating in the water without any clear directions. The anime have a hard time to compel dark themes to the story, the truth is the story was failed to bring that feeling. It has terrible exposition and dull storytelling.
Next one is flashbacks. The anime didn't use the flashbacks effectively and producing a slow pacing to the storyline.
Animation quite decent, characters have different colorful designs. While there are some scenes using CG, but the fighting scenes still tolerable. The World seems to be set with advanced technology, with robots, gadgets and other futuristic elements occur.
Background music seems to be mediocre. Seiyuu do their job fairly. There aren't anything that can outshine this anime except the OP theme. It's quite catchy itself.
Divine Gate wanted to be more focused in characterizations than story, they trying to develop the main characters at the early episodes, but it's failed in the execution, the anime more like want to explain how it's their past, not more or less. It tries to blend dark past to the character but failed to relate those past with the story.
After episode 7, I'm totally disappointed by this anime. Divine Gate has a huge number of supporting casts. The bad thing is those characters are not getting any single development. They're purely just a plot device to help the fight more dramatical, which make it more pointless.
Divine Gate is a great example of a pathetic attempt to draws many viewers as quickly as possible. It has been coated into 12 episodes of disaster with forced conclusion in the end. This anime really makes you don't want to watch anime again, so it is obviously not recommended.
So what is Divine Gate? Even Einstein can't answer this.....

Emotions, it's a powerful thing that lurks in human. It can manipulate your feelings, actions, and thoughts. Love, Hate, and other emotions can easily enter your inner-self, creating something we called Demons. Mononoke portrayed how atrocious human emotion can be, and how great an episodic anime can tell a story.

At first, I thought the story concept will create a dull storytelling, but I was wrong. The story consists of 5 unrelated short stories. Each story has their own way, it has unique differences and unpredictable plot twists and makes me speechless because of it. They didn't recycle the same idea but they developed them to create intense storytelling. For a horror anime, Mononoke didn't need blood, gory action, and many other overly-used horror elements, it just need a suspense story. Mononoke successfully created that each story.
The animations have a dark but full of different color. They trying to achieve the real horror elements and they succeed. The characters emotions were nonetheless the best they could offer, manic, panic, fear, laugh. It has various different expression drawn fluidly. Some people may found the art quite disturbing, but if you look in a different perspective it is a brilliant effort indeed.
The sound setting was a total fit to this anime. I really amaze by the voice actors who can bring such emotion to the screen. Another good point is the sound effect, from screaming, pounding, whispering perfectly done which created a plus sign for the horror element. Opening song Kagen no Tsuki sung by Ryouta Komatsu and Charlie Kousei have succesfully portrayed the combination of old western music and old eastern music and classically fits the anime. While the Ending song Natsu no Hana sung by JUJU brings a tender yet calm moments after a terror comes. I also found out the back sound quite good indeed, its have dark feelings that increase the intense more demonic.
In terms of character, we have only one role that keeps the story rolling, and the person is the Medicine Seller or Kusuriuri. Kusuriuri-san stands anonymously to the end. There is little known about him, but his calm and collected nature makes Mononoke more interesting and enjoyable to watch. Each episode has their own characters, those episodes only characters have a great development despite being shallow because 2-3 episodes length.
Mononoke stands as a unique figure that has to be the role model to keep the horror genre stands top. The unpredictable plot twist, intense, drama, and even art and sound settings make this anime enjoyable. If you seek for an anime that depicts the horror genre successfully in a different way from it should be. Then you might have to check this anime.

Superpower anime has been the main solution to attract many people in order to keep the Anime industry in balance. Since the success of such famous anime like the big three (Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach), there are dozens anime that uses the super power as an appeal and works as a direct jump to make profits. One of them are the K - project franchise, which has been ongoing since 2012. K Return of Kings is the 3rd project that exists in K Franchise. As the series go, K really didn't maximize any potential that it have.
The 1st season started the story while

adding the mystery genre into it. While Return of Kings does a different thing, they're trying to build-up its world in this 13 episode. While doing that, the anime throw many flashbacks & scenes to build that, but they didn't succeed the 30% of it.
For about 8 episodes K: Return of Kings brings us an endless "information dump". The blank paper is filled, they fill it with many chit-chat and useless scenes and they just did the same mistakes once again. As the plot drive slowly, K Return of Kings really just wasting the time it has. The story can be described as 'disoriented' and didn't have a clear direction, it just floating in the air with unclear reasons.
As we expected, K strongest power is in the budget. The animation grows very colorful and beautiful. The town settings and the battle scenes are well produced. The character designs have hundreds of bishounen waiting for the fangirl to scream. To adding that, we have some useless fanservice scenes using boobs and many other round things to maintain the enjoyment of the fanboy. Well, those things remind me, "What if K animation similar like Ping Pong?", fortunately, the reality is not like that.
Sound settings are okay, the new Opening & Ending Song are not too bad either. The background music was still great like its prequel. Voice actors did a great thing in doing their job.
Another disappointment we have is there is no in-depth character development. They throw many flashbacks in this little amount of episodes but useless flashbacks indeed (especially the first 8 minutes of episode 1). The main character possibly didn't do as the main character, they just fleshed out by supporting characters, their role was actually minimum in this series. The green king's motive was relatively poor and slightly typical and we have the gray king in return. The problem is they unloaded a number of characters with not the right balance and I should say this "None of the clansmen has a particular role in anything...", they just as useless as ever and just filled the vacancy of the episodes. It's just so blank, useless, and ridiculous.
The useless scenes that occur in the first six episode really bring a bad effect to the enjoyment itself. Actually, the battle scenes are pretty cool and colorful. But it got such an unexpected downfall especially for the story section and character section.

In the first 3 episode, I started to think that this series was interesting. But in the last 3 episodes, it all goes wrong..., in almost every aspects.
I will first discuss the story, the anime was identified as the mystery genre with no other genres. I should say that at first, the story promising many things. As we know, in mystery series, there's only one item that been offered to us. And the answer is 'the mystery' itself, but if we identified all of the available cases in Game of Laplace, there's not much mystery in it. It just a blank question that ready

to be answered at any time and any place. The bad thing is the anime unable to present intense mystery settings to the screen. Which a fatal error to the story plus the enjoyment. Imagine this,
"Have you had any idea if we watch a detective or a mystery movie without any mysteries within it?". The mysteries revealed with unclear reasons and many plot holes. Good thing this is just 11 episodes.
Another annoying thing is the character. I didn't even know why there's always psychopath that do the killings. The main cast could be told as one of the most typical, uninteresting, and ridiculous cast I've ever seen. You must know that the director is having a brain wreck. Instead offering a great mystery, they offering a yaoi fan service. Really? YAOI?! In mystery genre?! They exacerbated the situation with many other annoying and bizarre cast which I didn't want to describe one by one because it's just too.......ridiculous.
The animation and sound settings it's fair enough to make me watch this until the last second. Thanks to that two aspects, my headaches starts again.
Comic Relief, Ridiculous Cast, Unfulfilled Individual Element, and many other bad things make this anime got worse and worse. All of that wrapped up in just 11 episodes.Trust me, if you have any idea about watching this, I suggest you too forgot this for an instant.

8bit, the studio who half-assed Grisaia no Kajitsu into a 13 episodes. The good news is they do not repeat the same mistakes. In 10 episodes they turn it into diamond, shining and bright. Everyone rejoice! Because this sequel would really change your mind about this series. It's exceeded all estimate that exist.
The sequel of Grisaia no Kajitsu started right after Grisaia no Meikyuu, one of the best thing that Rakuen ever offer it's the main character development.
At the early episode we can see that the protagonist's past described very well, the feeling and the drama tension can feel deep into your bones.

Rakuen tell all the development that required for Kazami Yuuji. The series told Yuuji's past time and many things that didn't exist in it's prequel. Like a rainbow, the character development really prove something well. The development itself it's not shallow like they do in Kajitsu, it's well depth and understandable.
While Rakuen succeed in the character development, the story itself got some admire.
Rakuen story may be described as "rare breed harem". The story pacing it's still unstable, but the audience can still keep up with the story. It is not rushed, but balance and good. The story focused in one linear, which make it more understandable than the 1st season, unlike many harems that didn't notice in developments and story, Grisaia no Rakuen surely shocked all of it's viewers.

Another good thing is the enjoyment of the series, the excitement it's really beyond the boundary. All of those elements packed together created a massive enjoyment in my personal thought.
Just like a puzzle, when everything collected they will form something beautiful, from wrecked up harem shows, it become one unit of exhilarating story that succeed both in entertaining us and storytelling. Anyone who disappointed by the 1st season should watch this diamond, it is really a good experience indeed.

If there is a question about an anime that does their job in entertaining people so well, then Magic Kaito 1412 is one of those best answers. Filled with 24 minutes of excitements & deception makes Magic Kaito 1412 one of the most enjoyable series between Fall 2014 to Winter 2015.
As we know, an episodic series is like a gamble of life and death, some success while the others are not. The main concept of Magic Kaito 1412 is very simplistic, they do the same things from episode to episode just like an endless cycle. Almost all episodes do this endless cycle, except for

Although the concept is rather too simplistic, but the anime fully appealed the individual element of the story itself, especially the comedy and adventure parts.
If we talk about the animation, Magic Kaito 1412 may not be as good as the other, but the animation is completely different from the others which make it more memorable and unique, like an "icon". For the sound settings, the background music is wonderful & quite catchy while the seiyuu done their job decently. I personally adore the 2nd opening of the series "Ai no Scenario" sung by Chico with HoneyWorks, it is really good indeed.
The characters of an episodic anime sometimes criticized by people because of lack of development. Thankfully Magic Kaito managed to run away from the tiger's cage. What we have here is not a character growth but it's ability to refine the story. The main character, Kaito Kuroba himself it's described as an omniscient thief, sometimes he interacts with Aoko in a confusing but unique romance setting. Although the main character often referred as a "stereotypical", but the good thing is each single characters plays their roles pretty well. The villains actually appear randomly but the good thing is the villains have their own motive, which is good.
The elegant & magnificent Kaito Kid really did well in entertaining his audience this night. It is recommended for those who seeks for light anime that simply just entertains the audience with its magic. It is really a magical experience indeed.

There is a truth that not needed to discover for our own good
Bringing the old tradition of the classical detective story theme, Book of Murder covers right after Book of Circus arc. The story starts in Phantomhive manor, the queen order Ciel Phantomhive to held a banquet in his manor. The banquet was poisoned by a homicide that quickly turned the banquet into a death zone. Ciel must unravel the truth within the homicide.

Overall, it's just another Kuroshitsuji OVA that does their job well in bringing the intense excitement to the story ranks.
