‘The Knight King Who Returned With a God’ is a Korean manhwa about an over 300 year old man who spent most of his life fighting demons and orcs to protect his world. Unfortunately despite killing all of the demons his world still perishes because of the never-ending war and he ends up being the only one left alive. He finds himself in modern day Korea where gates of these monsters reside and he decides to build a knighthood there and continue rooting out the orcs and demons.

this series for and for good reason. The extreme differences between his experience and insight make people have drastic misunderstandings about his behaviors and it’s quite funny. I’d say when comparing it to the novel, it has a tendency to be more extreme on the misunderstandings in ways that can make even the reader be a bit distrustful of him unnecessarily. However, I think it just makes the story even more compelling in some ways.
I don’t want to say too much in fear of accidentally spoiling information but what I can say is that I truly enjoy this series and I hope many others will give it a chance.

When I was a bit younger I remember I enjoyed the manga for this series for a bit and then I dropped it. Out of nostalgia, I decided I’d watch this anime and I have to say that I don’t know what little me was thinking. The story doesn’t make sense. The main character can use up his mana till it’s in the negatives and still be alive and use more of his powers somehow. His characterization is pretty inconsistent as well. I’ve been putting off watching this show because I wasn’t sure if I’d like it or not. I only decided to sit myself down and watch it out of a whim because the summer season of anime is starting and the second season is airing soon.
Let me be clear, this show can be pretty enjoyable and if the new season can clear up some plot holes, things that I’m curious about, and bring me some better character development… I might be inclined to change my mind about this show and what I’ve rated it.

my humble opinion. He’s incredibly cunning, a destroyer of his world, and is somehow poor working at a McDonalds and has no way to get back to his own world and he doesn’t want to. Which, fine use that for comedy. It doesn’t really make sense but go for it. If you’re going to do that though, AT LEAST TRY TO MAKE IT MAKE SENSE. Use a backstory like, oh the demon king was always kind to his subordinates and the people he had under his wing and the only reason he had to fight the humans was because they wanted to kill off his kind. Or maybe, the humans killed off his loved ones so it was revenge against his world. Or even that he was raised and trained in his world to behave in that manner and when he came to Japan he found a new way of thinking. EVEN THAT would work better than they story they tried to concoct in this first season. SOMETHING PLAUSIBLE, because then it would make sense that in this world where people showed him kindness he doesn’t have it in him to create chaos, despair, or violence, to get his powers back. Instead, they try to write it off as oh he just never understood what people were thinking so he happily danced in war. IT MAKES NO SENSE.
There is good character writing every now and then too so I don’t understand why they decided to write the main character in such a half assed manner but I keep looking all over the internet to see if maybe in the future they go more in depth about his backstory. He’s the entire reason that I even wanted to watch this show in the first place so I’m very disappointed at the moment. I didn’t come for the comedy so despite the fact that I didn’t laugh a single time while watching this show that fact hasn’t made me upset.
I think the concept itself is really cool and some of the characters are well designed and interesting. I like that the hero Emilia actually has a good character direction and is obviously hurt by the fact that the demon lord she knew who was so evil and cruel has the ability to be kind but just wasn’t in her world. I like the fact that there is a struggle with his subordinates when they see the demon lord that they admired so much has become a subordinate of a big chain company. However, that doesn’t automatically make it a good show. It needs more depth and until I get that… all that I can say is the show is average at best.
I won’t say that as a character, the protagonist is all bad. I like that he isn’t easily flustered by a woman’s attention and affection like most fantasy harems. I’m glad that they took at least that in mind when writing his personality. He was a demon king, if they made him care about stuff like that or made him easily flustered it would’ve made this show unwatchable for me. I’m also glad that even though he’s a bit dense with romance, because he’s probably never been concerned about those matters, once he’s been told that someone likes him he doesn’t assume they’re lying, pretend like it hasn’t happened, or blush like a crazy person and have wild delusions. He takes it for what it is and moves on. Thankfully, he’s not a pervert. That’s the only good thing about his character so far. I genuinely wish that I could say more good things about this show but sadly I can’t. If the second season is worth my time I’ll change my rating but if not I’ll drop the second season and this rating will stay like this forever.

Shield Hero Season Two has been widely talked about all over the internet because of it being lackluster. The first season of Shield Hero was extremely popular and had a vast amount of viewership because of controversial topics and themes. Those topics, though, were settled in the first season so the people who came for that one reason, left afterwards, satisfied with what was already out. Once the second season aired people expected revenge, politics, and thrills like what they got with the first season and then were then heavily disappointed when they reached the slowest arc in the entire series.

of excitement, fled to the manga straight after the first season finished airing, and then was bored out of my mind because of the spirit turtle arc… I enjoyed this anime adaptation. Like everyone else, I didn’t enjoy the spirit turtle cgi, and Rishia annoyed me sooooo much in the beginning but unlike with the manga I was able to continue. Kyo was an interesting villain and Kizuna made me smile. It’s different from the manga in a lot of different ways but in my opinion, THAT’S A GREAT THING. The music was amazing, I liked what they did with all of my favorite characters and it was a very interesting watch after the first four episodes.
Any manga fan or light novel fan telling you this adaption absolutely ruined the entire anime, needs to seek help. I remember the very first time I decided I wanted to read the manga, every manga fan told me okay BUT the arc after the first season is incredibly slow but then it gets better. I have incredible hopes for the third season because somehow, some way, they made me able to sit through the second season and enjoy it despite how boring the spirit turtle arc was initially for me.
People who hate isekai and decided this show was the exception to the rule and then unilaterally decided “Oh no, it’s just like every isekai now. It’s horrible I can’t watch it anymore! Le gasp!” needs to understand, it’s an isekai. Get over it. Isekai isn’t a genre, it’s a setting, it’s a way to build a world that doesnt actually exist and every story has a bad arc or two. Again, get over it. Just because you didn’t like this arc doesn’t mean it’s like every other isekai you’ve ever seen. It’s different and has its own unique characters and tropes. Stop putting down an entire series for no other reason besides the fact that you don’t like it. The story isn’t bad. You just didn’t like it. And that’s perfectly acceptable at the end of the day. A lot of people had higher expectations and because of that were very disappointed. Again, a very acceptable feeling. This season was definitely not amazing. But it wasn’t terrible either, like every one and their mother’s seem to believe. Don’t listen to other reviews, watch the second season and see how you feel about it yourself. Don’t go in with super high expectations, just try to enjoy yourself and then if you like it, that’s awesome. If you don’t like it, that’s understandable. Just come to that conclusion on your own please.

Crying Freeman is something else, it’s one of those shows that I went in thinking that I would love to death for specific reasons and although I was wrong I still came out of it thinking, ‘I really like this’. If you’re going into this thinking that you’re going to get a cute romance between a gangster and a regular girl, you’re dead wrong. I feel like all of the romance geeks that might come to watch this will actually be quite disappointed. or romantic moment is with the same woman even if it’s with the same man.
What Crying Freeman does best is it’s characters, sometimes the character development is a bit rough and I’m certain it’s because it was adapting a 76 chapter manga into a 6 episode anime (although the episodes were all around 58 minutes long). Yet, I still found myself attached to the characters.
The pacing of the storyline is definitely a bit quick, but the plot is always interesting and even if it goes into a wild direction it’s still hard to not be entertained by it. Of course, there were some things that had me rolling my eyes and because of the absurdity but at the same time, it was still a fun and entertaining watch. Don’t take it too seriously and I’m sure you’ll have fun with it. The plot is ridiculous, it’s all just the writer going “what if we put him in this situation, he’ll obviously win but who will we make him have sex with and how does he kill them”. You can tell that whoever created this and directed it was having a lot of fun and I guess I can respect that.
It’s definitely not a masterpiece but it’s great for what it was and I enjoyed myself a lot. I’m sure that of you’re looking for an older anime to watch but you don’t want to commit to a series with a lot of episodes or a super serious plot line, this is a good one for you.

As someone who loves the manga, I appreciate what they did with this adaption. The anime has great music, they didn’t change the art style from the manga, and the characters are still the beloved characters from the manga that I recognize and adore.
This is definitely a classic delinquent story and it’s a fun little series but it also tackles a lot of difficult topics like; r*pe, violence, and etc. Because it’s an older work, I’d say the topic of r*pe wasn’t handled very well so if that is a possible trigger, stay away from this.

the entirety of the series. I’m someone who’s definitely willing to pay to watch what I want but I can’t even figure out where to do that. It’s not on Funimation, Crunchyroll, Amazon Prime, Hulu, or Netflix. The only way I was able to find out where to watch the entire thing is on YouTube by searching up Bad Boys OVA… and sadly there are no English Subtitles. If you can’t speak Japanese other websites definitely have them but only the first three episodes, they do not have all five. I also found the DVD’s on EBay but I’m definitely not spending 170 something on a show that only has 5 episodes. I know that if you put the 5 episodes together it’s basically a super long movie but even so, I somehow doubt it has English subtitles. So I’d be spending all of that money, for what?
If you want to consume more of the story I think it’s definitely less of a hassle to read the manga. Although the first few chapters are very strange, it gets so much better. I wish that I could finish the anime so if anyone has some tips to find the rest of the anime, I’d love the help. Otherwise, from what I’ve seen so far, it’s a great adaption. It cuts out some of the weirdo stuff from the beginning of the story and one of the worst characters in the series so it flourishes in a way the manga didn’t when it first started out. It has the charm, from the manga, that kept me binge reading. It’s a wonderful series. Definitely watch it or read it. 9/10 highly recommend.
