I already wrote an in-depth review for the overall feel of this series in season one, but I wanted to post an extra for this season. (disclaimer: I read the comics, but never read the novels).

I have to say they did an excellent job portraying the story, and dare I say sometimes in a much clearer way than the comic did sometimes) i.e. I was so very confused about the whole Yong'an arc and why Lang Qianqiu got so angry. It was portrayed a lot clearer in the animation (at least for me). So personally I feel like it was very easy to follow ...

Starting this with the disclaimer that I have not read the novels, I have however read the comics (up to the most recently available English translation). I'd like to preface this (as I've seen a lot of people unfairly complaining about this) - the comic art can never be translated as beautifully into an animation version. However, the art is still absolutely stunning in these series (so highly recommend you invest in watching this with HQ streaming). It's so beautiful, and while it took me a few episodes to get used to the character's looks in this donghua (as I was used to the comics), ...

First of all, I am yet to read the novels or the comics, so this is a review from someone who is completely new to the story, has no knowledge of anything beyond this donghua (and some instagram spoilers as the algorithm has picked up on this new interest of mine). First of all the animation is amazing, it's very clean, everything has sound effects (in particular I love all the robes moving and the sounds they make). The music is amazing. There is SO MUCH flag movements, I started finding it funny and would make a good drinking game for every time a flag ...
