To be concise, this was an excellent story told in a short time frame with a simple yet engaging plot to anyone who is in their late teens or older. The soundtrack and animation were phenomenal as well. The characters were not the most complex, but given the subtleties they exhibited and the length of this piece, I'd say they were well-developed enough. They changed and grew through their interactions with each other and felt human.

I'll even admit that I teared up a little with the final scene before the two characters part ways.

After reading all three books, I can only recommend the first two. Not that Sasuke Shinden was bad, but in terms of how much it adds to the Naruto franchise, it came off as fluff that wasn't needed. Only look into that one if you're a huge Sasuke fan.

With that being said, this review will primarily be aimed at Itachi's two Shinden novels, which were quite enjoyable overall and something I didn't know I needed until reading them.
