If you liked the TV shows, and if you liked the characters, well they are all here, almost all of them. The movie feels like a paint by number box checking exercise. Everyone gets to do their "thing" and gets their big screen screen times. But the plot is thin and in normal Anime OVA fashion, nothing is at stake. Sure there are big action, great sakuga moments to show the budget of a movie. But it just doesn't feel like a proper film.

Solid Sports Manga, really good art style and character design with quite a lot of interesting characters that you don't just gloss over when the MCs interact with them(mostly during the matches). Some issue with the story beats related to the relationship between mom and the MC, seems especially rushed/underdeveloped/explained in the end. The ending felt a bit unearned but I think ultimately enjoyable over looking that aspect and good to see some epilogue that addresses almost all the characters.
Story: 7.5 Art: 9 Pacing: 8 Character Design: 9.5 Given those scores why is the overall only a 7? I feel like I enjoyed my time with the story and ...

Youtube recommendation brought me to this with all the cool animation sequences of the matches. Weirdly I ended up reading the manga first then I think that influenced my feeling for the anime.
Hanebado!'s manga isn't necessarily that much better, but I think it presented the ultimately similar tone of the story in a more balanced way than the anime did. The anime's biggest issue to me I feel like is just that, it feels very unbalanced.
