As a amateur climber myself I was excited at the announcement of this anime as I'd imagine most niche hobbyist would be at a media depiction of their somewhat lesser known activity.
In actuality though its a bit disappointing.
The Story and Characters are rather standard fair for sport characters throwing in a host of personalities and skill in an attempt to cover the basic bases of the kinds of people and their specialties' so as to showcase the widest range of actions possible in the sport. Though added on top of the diversity is an frankly distracting addition of animalistic qualities that further "define" each character

As is, it is as it is, Monogatari, it is.
First and foremost though also latest and most recent, I find it funny how people do not get that the show is presented in exactly the way it is meant to be watched. Do not pause to read. Do not over-think. Do not under-think. Do not collect 2,000 yen. Just experience. What one, that one being I, seem to remember most about the Monogatari series are its odd moments that obviously set it apart from anything else. But going through it again there are really some incredible story and character moments that just shine incredibly in contrast. Even among other anime that focus ...

"Its a high school romance, but rather non-typical even if it seems like it at first.
Very enjoyable. Very touching." Thats what I've told some friends, so that might as well do here. I don't really like review because I feel like I need to convince others why I think its as good as I think it is. But, I don't really need to, do I? If its good enough for me, who cares what anyone else says? Unless they agree of course! Anyway, love it. Up there with Clannad in my book even if they really aren't very similar. Just both highly enjoyable to comparable degrees.

Its interesting to see the changes from this to the actual anime it has now. Though oddly enough I feel like I would have liked to seen it done in this style with these character designs more. it looks like an older anime sorta and the design is reminiscent of other older manga based shows. Kinda nostalgic.
Don't get me wrong though, I like the anime as it is as it looks now, especially those eyes, very nice eyes in the anime. |
