My Love Letter to Evangelion:
It Begins: I remember it to be rainy night, in 2014. Death Note impressed me immensely but Berserk and Oyasumi PunPun failed to reach my expectations, I found the violence and excess sadness unimportant. I didnt stuck by Evangelion. Well the ending dissapointed me gravely, so much that I just quite anime for a few weeks. Of course then I started Naruto, AOT was in the shelves as well, I was rewatching it, I watched Monster and that was an absolute masterclass in storytelling and took my No. 1 spot.
2015: Second trial of Evangelion begun and as I had seen many different videos(Gigguk) and other great animes of the same decade(Cowboy Bebop, etc), well I really liked it, until the ending. Again. I just couldnt understand. Why? Why was it so popular among the veterans, who I respected. They recommended Macross, Bebop, Monster so they knew what they were talking about. When I told about me rewatching Evangelion and still not liking, they told me to see the film. "End of Evangelion", it was called. I saw it. And again. And again. I just couldnt grasp what made the film so bloody amazing. Like seriously, it was perfect. I told them about it. Then they told me to rewatch the series and to see something called the 'Rebuilds'. I viewed all of them and my experience was impeccable. Watching the Third Impact in a rainy night is still one of my favourite experiences till date.
Rewatches: But the issue was that I still couldnt understand it. Like it was good and all, the philosophy everything, made sense, but there was something missing. I still didnt like ANY of the characters. They were are whiny(except kaiji). Then after an event(Some people here know of that event), my entire life was thrown on its head. I couldn't understand anything. Mind you, its 2016, there were multiple great shows going on, but still I decided to see Evangelion. Again. And holy shit. It might be the first time I understood the inside of all the characters. Hideaki Anno is someone who put pieces of himself on the different characters, thats why they feel so real. Because they are. When you delve deep into their mental illness you only hear a man, screaming for help. This is one of the few pieces of media which seems like the complete unbridled emotions of the creator.
Endings: The endings seem... incomplete. Just like the soul of the creator, he is trying to piece himself together. The futher you go to Evangelion, chronologically, you see that the characters become a lot more coherent, but the story becomes completely unrecognisable. The insane shift in genre between Episode 19 and 20, will always be remembered by me. The rebuilds were good, but again, it felt incomplete. Like an important piece was missing. It seems like the creator still hasnt left his past. Well, I did. So many damn years, and there was other anime going on, Blue Lock was at its peak, COTE was publishing masterpieces after another, AOT wasnt a steaming pile of dogshit, but the biggest name in the entire industry. It seems like the entire world, along with me , had forgotten about the Rebuilds. But Hideaki Anno had different ideas.
The Last Dance: When a swan dies, he sings a song, having stayed quiet for most of its life, and its known as the Swan Song. There is no better fitting to this final film. Finally, after such a long time, the Evangelion which I wanted came back. Its 2021, I finally booted up my PC, feeling like the same kid, such a long time ago, mesmerized and terrified by Evangelion. The Dead Sea Scrolls, the symbolism, the mental illness, the insanity, Asuka and Shinji's screams, the blood, death so much more. But this final iteration reminded me what Eva was. No, WHY it existence. It was resonance. There is a reason why I talk about Evangelion so less, mostly because there is no other show which is so dear to my heart. It can't be understood in a traditional way, you have to FEEL every single thing which the characters are saying. Put them in your shoes, and see how you would react.
It has (not) ended: Debates on the endings will never end and never will any fan stop thinking about them. There is no other anime which has impacted such a huge audience as Evangelion has. The reason is simple. The pure unadultrated feelings of the creator. This is what happens when a man releases his emotions. Entirely. It seems like, Evangelion is finally complete. No matter who you are, where you are from, I believe, that everyone has something to take away from Evangelion. Are you an Asuka? A Shinji? A Misato? It helps you discover yourself. It helps change you, with the profound idea that a piece of entertainment can be so close to your heart, that you start identifying with the characters. For better or worse. Everything has a reason. Learn to appreciate yourself, more than others. Only you can understand yourself. No one else.

Gates to another dimension, called Mato, begin opening across Japan, where monsters known as Shuuki begin attacking the inhabitants of the Earth. Only good thing is animation tbh, but can't even have an unironical watch because the content ain't worth making fun off even if it was badly executed.
Reminds me of Serbian Film but at the least Serbian Film is hated, this is unironically praised.

Introduction: Devilman Crybaby is an underrated gem to come out in the 2010s. Mostly because of its hardcore 90s anime feel due to the extreme violence, sexual content and extremely dark content. This series could have only been put in a platform like Netflix. Its completely raw and uncensored and it makes me feel like I am watching a mix between Series Experiment Lian and Evangelion at the same time.

demons have returned to take back the world from humans and suggests that he unite with a demon. Akira successfully does that, transforming into Devilman, a being with a demon's powers but who retains the soul of a human. This sends Akira into a brutal, degenerate war against evil. With fear of demons gripping the world, humanity devolves into paranoia and violence and Akira sets out to save other demon-human hybrids like himself.
Conclusion: Put in some brilliant fight sequences coupled with outstanding abstract animation and a brillain score along with a few well fleshed out characters, you have one hell of an anime.
Netflix really gave us anime fans something brilliant.

I may have to change my top 3 mangas. Coz holy shit this was bloody awesome. I love both the writers, Osamu and Urasawa so I was really hyped. Volume 1 was probably one of the best openings and the ending... Jesus its good. I wasn't really 'impacted' by it but I dont give two shits about it. Probably the most perfect and flawless manga ever created by one of the greatest artists of all time- Naoki Urasawa.
Everything just hits. In a span of 65 chapters is does things which long running mangas could only dream of. Kinda said that I didnt read it before.

Now only 20th CB is left and then my entire Urasawa catalogue will be finished.

Why GTO is so special to me.
GTO is probably the most impactful manga I have read because of how relative it is. Another reason may be that I also had a teacher like Onizuka when I was young. I was always one of those troublemakers who didn't study and he was the English Teacher. I am getting too personal, but it is important to know the background. GTO wasn't recommended to me by anyone. into anime as a whole because I didn't understand Evangelion on first watch. I loved the anime and the humor was so good. But the ending didn't do it for me. It felt.... incomplete. Like something was missing. I wad correct. I started reading the manga and a lot of events were left out and multiple scenes were censored. And Onizuka's true personality shined even brighter. The Best of 'Slice of Life' : The Slice of Life genre of literature and media is very misunderstood. People usually think that it is very boring, forgetting that Satyajit Ray, Leo Tolstoy, Ritwick Ghatak and most Ghibhli films are famous for this genre itself. If someone were to ask me my favourite Slice of Life media, then it would be GTO. It tackles multiple types of people, their struggles, their psyches and it all circulates around the protagonist, Onizuka Eikichi. There are multiple students and it is basically between him and these students do the adventures occur. The story doesn't contain any dark and gruesome scenes and many plot twists because it doesn't need them. It isn't going to do what it doesn't need. The author knows what the audience and most of all— himself wants out of this. GTO's purpose is to uplift you. It will never put you down. In your darkest times Onizuka's adventures with his students is what would put a smile in your face. It is a classic example of thought provoking, yet entertaining and light shounen manga which really lacks these days.
Onizuka Eikichi- There is no easy way of saying this, Onizuka Eikichi is probably one of the best protagonists in animanga. His philosophy, attitude and love for his friends and students are some of the elements which make him cool. Onizuka is the basic definition of how a man should live his life. Without restrictions, with responsibility, with a sense of justice and, never leave your true selves to get something. Onizuka hates one thing—Fake people. He hates liars and doesn't like people who fake their personalities. But he understands when to be serious and when to be fun. He never lets anyone down if they need his help, be it someone who didn't respect him before. His philosophy is probably the most unique in all of manga.
Relatibility: Without doubt, Onizuka is the most relatable manga protagonist I have read about. That is one of the factors why I love him and his actions so much. The things he does matches me in many ways and hence, I don't feel lonely at my thoughts. We forget, that when we are reading something, watching something, the author's thoughts are there too. So if you relate to something, if you feel down, perhaps the author feels that too. THAT is what art's purpose is. Is to entertain and support the audience. When the audience finish something they should feel accomplished. Of course, that is not always the case, but nowadays people look down on series, books and movies which aren't dark. That is why the recent Lord of the Rings series is said to be of Game of Thrones' atmosphere. People forget that not everyone enjoys dark, brutal things. The main reason why GTO is my favorite manga is because it balances deep themes along with comedy perfectly.

REVIEW IS FOCUSING ONLY ON KIYOTAKA AYANOKOUJI
THE MOST DEFECTIVE HUMAN.
The White Room: The White Room was an instituition founded by Professor Ayanokouji to prove that one's genetics do not make someone successful. It is the environment they inhabitat in that matters. A concept of Nature vs Nurture. While the White Room's concept falls flat as the FORCE nurturing. It doesnt develop it. Kiyotaka is called the 'Masterpiece' as he hit every single mark of the White Room curriculam. Another purpose of the White Room was to put every person in equivalent superiority. After Kiyotaka's success, Prof. Ayanokouji could finally start mass production of powerful,

logical and superior people. But sadly, there has only been 2 other successes, which are not even close to Kiyotaka.
Tragedy of Icarus: In Greek Mythology there was a tale of Icarus and Daedelus. In this tale, Daedelus makes a pair of wings of wax for Icarus. Daedelus asks Icarus not to fly to far. But Icarus pays no heed to Daedelus and flies very close to the sun. This results in his wings being melted and him falling to his death. This was mentioned in Episode 10 and Volume 3 This mythology is very important to understand Kiyotaka's character. Both of these characters wanted freedom. Icarus was imprisoned. Kiyotaka is still imprisoned in the horrifying White Room. He has still not escaped from the shackles of the whiteness.
Just how bad was the White Room?
According to Ichika Awasawa, a 5th Generation White Roomer, the White Room was like a chamber. The entire insititute was a place of pure whiteness. This is probably the only physical description of the White Room which we have. The rest are theories made by many fans. But one that remains constant, is that the White Room was based on Meritocracy. Meritocracy is a type of society where human beings arent equal in the slightest. Only the most capable and the 'elite' are in the top. The rest suffer. It also follows Darwinism and 'The Survival of the Fittest'. It aims at teaching children from as small as the age as possible. So far there has been 20 Generations. There should be approximate 50 students per generation. And so far there has only been 3 successful specimens. Kiyotaka, who is from the Demonic 4th Generation, Takuya Yagami and Ichika Awasawa who are from the 5th Genration. The 4th Generation was the worst and the most cruel course. Students were taught the Theory of Relativity at the age of 10. Students were crushed one after the another until he last remaining standing. While the 4th Generation taught pure individuality, the 5th Generation emphasied on communication and coordination.
Is he Perfect?
Kiyotaka is called the Perfect Human as he perfected the theory of Nature vs Nurture. But there are many flaws to this. As I said, the nurture was forced. Kiyotaka has multiple flaws. He cant show emotions, neither can he communicate properly. He hasnt felt love, seeks for friendship but it is manipulative tendencies and immoral upbringing which make him so flawed. The purpose of the ANHS is to show that there are geniuses in multiple spheres of life. Just as in real life. One cannot be a genius in everything. For example, Sudo Ken is a genius at Bastketball. That is a sphere of life Kiyotaka cant match. So is Kanji Ike in communication. To be flawed is to be human. And to deny that is quite a dumb claim. Everything for Kiyotaka is information. Superfluous data. His first words at the LN and anime show what to expect- Equality is a myth. For most of our time we keep on living in a meritocracy. So, no. He is not a perfect human.
Him and Eren Yeager- Freedom
In my post I compared these two characters whom I found to be very similiar yet different. Their philosphy is very similiar. But its the difference in their approach. Both will hurt anyone for their freedom. But, Eren is rather, selfless. Kiyotaka is rather selfish. Eren and Kiyotaka have both suffered quite a lot. So, how they take it out on the world is also interesting. Both of them are filled with guilt. While Eren does become 'free' Kiyotaka has no chance of attaining true freedom. Theorues are emerging, and I personally have a theory too. After completing 3 years he will go back to the White Room. That seems the most plausible, knowing the theme of fighting one's past. Hence Kiyotaka's life is much more tragic. Because even though, he had control in his life, he actually didn't he would be an anomaly in animanga.
Kiyotaka and Johan- In terms of knowledge, Kiyotaka is probably the most knowledgable realistic character in fiction. In terms of manipulation, Johan is the greatest manipulator in animanga history. Both of these characters are immoral monsters. Their philosophy may be different, but its their manipulation techniques which is amazing. Johan can convince someone to suicide with ease while Kiyotaka must have killed many children during his stay in the White Room. .Both are monsters. Kiyotaka is a physical beast while Johan is an intellectual monster. Johan can control nations and Kiyotaka listens to his father, he would become the leader of Japan. Both of them brilliant are playing with human lives and are some of the most unique characterizations in animanga.
Is he evil?
For any normal Shounen protagonist, calling his 'friends' tools is certainly an evil thing. Kiyotaka is a Seinen protagonist. Even for a Seinen protagonist, no character has his mentality. Kiyotaka is trying to have friends, feel emotions. And love someone. But he still cannot. The only person he probably loves, is Kei Karuizawa. The only person who seen his dark side. But still, he cant love her fully. He is full of guilt and anger on himself. He is still traumatised by the White Room and he is an absolute Sociopath. He wont hesitate to assault a girl if it helps his purpose. So, from one point of view, he is evil. But if we take a deeper look, the true villain is Prof. Ayanokouji. The father and founder of the White Room. Kiyotaka did what he had to do to survive the extreme hard conditions of the 4th Generation. And that formed his character. Hence, Kiyotaka is a very damaged demon. A fallen angel. A machiavellian. A defective human. A MASTERPIECE
CONCLUSION: So, in conclusion, Kiyotaka Ayanokouji, the protagonist of Classroom of the Elite, is one of the most psychologically complex characters I have seen. Most things he does contradict what he told about himself, to us and the characters. He is a demon chained by the darkness of the White Room. He is a 17 year old boy trying to fight his destiny, past and father at the same time. He is also very human. He feels guilt. He feels pity. He calls himself average, weak and useless. Yet he fights Manabu Horikita, shows some of his skills to Suzune, 'protects' Kei Keriuzawa. He is an anomaly of different proportions. He is one of the most flawed humans in fiction, yet he is near perfect. He doesnt feel emotions, yet he feels guilt. All he wants to do is to live like a normal school boy. But sadly, from the circumstances, that may not be the case. Multiple people are closing in. Chairman Sakayanagi may not be able to control Prof. Ayanokouji. And even after the 3 years of school life, he must go back to the White room. It would be a tragedy. But a smile wouldn't hurt, would it?

The Insanity of Chainsaw Man
PREMISE: Chainsaw Man is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto. Its first arc was serialized in Shueisha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from December 2018 to December 2020; its second arc began serialization in Shueisha's Shōnen Jump+ online magazine in July 2022.

DENJI: Denji, the protagonist of Chainsaw man is quite a league of his own on pushing the envelope on what a shonen protagonist can do. Denji is a man who just wants to be happy with the mere basics- food, shelter, some money and you know... that. But other than that, nothing else. That's it. He is a static character, no matter what occurshe stays the same. That's why it hits so hard when he shows emotions. When he feels something, something more than the bare necessities. His journey is about becoming human. Its about being more than a mere 'dog'. The moment he breaks through the shackles does he become someone... unique.
FEMALE CHARACTERS: Chainsaw Man, has probably one of the best female cast in animanga, at least in recent times. It's not just coz they are powerful, they are human, everything them do, has some meaning, whether how disgusting it may be. Each character is shown equal care in the span of 97 chapters, which is unheard of. Probably the greatest part of this is the dynamic between Power and Denji. Unlike most relationships Denji has, Power seems to be a friend, more than a partner, a sexual fantasy, Denji looks to Power as his very close friend.
AKI AND THE GUN DEVIL: Ah, the arc which broke every single reader. The Gun Devil Arc. probably the Eclipse Arc in Shonen because of how it comes from thin air, and just destroys everything. Aki's purpose in life was to kill the Gun Devil, and to see him getting used by the very fabric of his hated existence makes it a lot more tragic that it should be. And at the end, Denji has to put him down. The Gun Devil is probably the most terrifying monster I have seen because of what he represents. School shootings. If you pay close attention, the Gun Devil's range increases when his targets are children. This clearly represents school shootings and its horrifying.
GUN DEVIL ITSELF: The Gun Devil made his manga debut in chapter 75, while his first mention can be traced back to chapter 12. Being a Gun Devil, he embodies the fear of guns. While he remains a secondary antagonist of the Public Safety Arc, he becomes a major antagonist of the Gun Devil Arc. As for Gun Devil's appearance, he has a giant build with multiple guns attached to his body. His hands can be seen having assault rifles like AK-47, M16A1, MK18, and several more, while his head is replaced with the barrel of an M1911. Several other guns can be seen attached to his back. Instead of legs, Gun Devil has six large ammo belts hanging through his body. The Gun Devil is the biggest evidence to show the genius of Tatsuki Fujimoto. It's not always easy to create such a strong villain at such a short span of time and keep the intense impact. During the attack, Tatsuki Fujimoto listed up every. single. person. who. died. With their names, in alphabetic order. And at the final the name is- AKI . The snowball fight is quite literally one of the most well executed scenes in manga history, and no, I am not lying. In the outside Chainsaw Man looks safe, predictable but in the inside, it is a harsh cruel world. The Gun Devil changes everything the moment it appears. Its target is one and only- Makima. Eveything happened because of Makima and her manipulative tendencies. She used the Angel Devil, and the rest and Denji to take down the Gun Devil with her very own benefit. The Gun Devil shows and embodies the paranoia, insanity and psychopathy which is common in the modern world.
USE OF SILENCE: Panelling is quite underrated in manga community but CSM shows just how important it is. Never have I seen a mangaka with such mastery in the very concept which makes CSM so amazing- Silence. There are multiple panels in CSM which just have the characters doing a particular action but with not a single word. It somehow manages to convey more information and emotions than anything.
ENDING: if we consider Part 1, which I talked about, it has ended and it was perfect in every way. The final chapter might be one of my favourite conclusions to an arc ever. The final panel showing Denji revving up the chainsaw makes it so good but also characters like Kishibe and 'Makima' make it so better. Denji is someone who lost everyone and yet he is continuing his duty, albiet for his own selfish needs showing he hasnt changed and will never change. Its amazing, beautiful, insane and absolutely absurd at the same time. Its pretty much impossible for anyone to replicate what Fujimoto has done.

The Absurd Beauty of Blue Lock
PREMISE: Blue Lock was made primarily by the mangaka as an abrupt reaction to the loss of Japan in the Round of 16, criticizing the inbuilt collectivism of the Japanese Culture and embracing the egoistic and aggressive playstyle of European football. The basic ideology can be summed in these lines: "I will lead japan to victory in the U-20 Word Cup". The will to stand out and reach for the stars, while crossing everyone and not giving twom shits about their friends is what the competitive world is about. and escapist, Blue Lock shows the harsh side of the Competitive world but also encouraging ambitious people who will do anything to win. It is a dream manga for someone like me, who is a lot like the characters of Blue Lock.
ARTSTYLE: The brilliance of Blue Lock's art style is quite something. There is something about the puzzles coming about out of Isagi when he thinks, or when he changes his playstyle. Its not only the brutal feel to the art, but the nature of the 'beasts' shown. Aiku is shown as a snake which compliments his playstyle of creeping up to his enemies. Shidou Ryusei has devil wings due to his explosive playstyle. Barou Shoei has a Lion due to his self-personification of being a 'King'.
ART: 10
Theory of Luck: The authors opinion on luck is quite different from what usual animangas has setup. Luck is looked down upon and its said everything is attained through hardwork. Thats quite bullshit, luck is a major factor in a football field and even in a competitive world. Luck shall always play a major role, but it is your will to push your limits which will make 'luck' fall in your place. Its impossible to make up plays suddenly unless things happen your way and the final few minutes of U-20 vs Blue Lock proved it all.
Concept of Egoism: Whether you like it or not, Egoism plays and will always play a crucial role in your footing in society. The wish that you ARE the BEST, and that NO ONE can cross you takes more than just will power and mental, physical strength. It takes a certain insanity, obssession. Shidou sums it up the best: "What’s the word that again? ‘Sportsmanship’ whatever you call that outdated kumbaya-loving bullshit? You see, to me, football is not just fun and games. It’s the very act of living an explosion of life, you could say. Let’s have at it, hero. You won’t find anyone as fair or as in love with football as me, you know?" The will to sacrifise everything, to make your LIFE about it, THIS is what Blue Lock is about. THAT is what the mangaka's vision of ego is. It is to be the best of yourself and to not care about anyone else. When you have a chance to take a shot at the biggest stage, will you pass it to someone or will you take it? That is what its all about. Egoists have one thing- extrordinary confidence.
CHARACTERS: Sports animangas usually have 3 types of characters- passionate, yet somehow inept protagonist, selfish but someone who changes antagonist and the rest of the team. But in Blue Lock everyone is their own person. Let me state something bold: No character in any sports animanga can survive Blue Lock. Blue Lock looks at the brutal nature of World Football. The characters are diverse and have distinct personalities. And the character design is amazing and counterparting the 'protagonism' of Blue Lock.
Highest Stakes: The balls of the mangaka is MASSIVE for what he has done. For the longest time I considered Jujutsu Kaisen as the best new gen manga. But nah its Blue Lock, and it isnt even CLOSE. Like JJK has one top tier arc. Blue Lock has back to back 10/10 arcs and we are not even CLOSE to the ending. Now about the stakes. If you loose in Blue lock you cant touch the ball in the National Shirt, EVER. And U-20 VS blue Lock was broadcasted to the WORLD and if they loose against Japan's FINEST the Blue Lock will be disbanded. For a sports manga, it cant get higher than this. True peak fiction. Why is Akira is masterpiece?
Synopsis: Akira is a 1988 Japanese animated cyberpunk action film directed by Katsuhiro Otomo, produced by Ryōhei Suzuki and Shunzō Katō, and written by Otomo and Izo Hashimoto, based on Otomo's 1982 manga of the same name. Set in a dystopian 2019, it tells the story of Shōtarō Kaneda, a leader of a biker gang whose childhood friend, Tetsuo Shima, acquires incredible telekinetic abilities after a motorcycle accident, eventually threatening an entire military complex amid chaos and rebellion in the sprawling futuristic metropolis of Neo-Tokyo. The Protagonist: Shotaro Kaneda is the main protagonist of the Akira film. He is the leader of The Capsules. He was also a friend of Tetsuo .Kaneda is portrayed as the main symbol of defiance against traditional forms of authority, particularly Colonel Shikishima. He is known to act before thinking things through, which gets him into trouble. Probably one of the most important protagonists in anime history, Kaneda formed many tropes which became popular in mainstream shonen anime, despite Akira being Seinen. What makes him so special is his direct conflict against the antagonist. He is quite the opposite to his counterpart, and that creates a very unique and violent final battle. Beneath his tough and cocky exterior, Kaneda is brave and innately empathetic. He looks out for the safety and well-being of the members of his biker gang (most notably Tetsuo Shima), and becomes vexed to the point of tears when he loses one of them. Kaneda values loyalty and becomes vengeful when trust is broken.
Antagonist: Tetsuo Shima is both the deuteragonist and main antagonist of the AKIRA franchise. Thematically, he represents the destructive potential of power in the wrong hands. Tetsuo’s most prominent characteristic is his inferiority complex. Despite Kaneda's efforts to foster a brotherly relationship with him, Tetsuo feels like he is being bossed around and treated as a subordinate. On the surface, Tetsuo has a rather fierce temper, is rather impulsive, and tends to make rash decisions. Like all other members of The Capsules, he has little to no respect towards authority figures. However, it is likely that he chooses to hide insecurity and sensitivity behind this aggression. This can be inferred through the way he is characterized in flashbacks, especially when compared to Kaneda at the same age. After acquiring the powers of the Espers, and surviving their attempt to kill him, his personality takes a drastic turn for the worse. He storms through Neo Tokyo in order to find Akira, carelessly using his psychic powers to harm the attacking military and civilians alike. After this rampage, he taunts and attacks Kaneda in an effort to boost his own ego. Despite his poor treatment of, and expression of disdain for Kaneda, he becomes genuinely frightened when his body expands beyond his control, knowing full well they were both powerless to stop the mutation.
Legacy: Akira is widely regarded as one of the greatest animated movies of all time and prompted an increase in popularity of anime movies in the US and, generally, outside Japan. It is still admired for its exceptional visuals. Akira is regarded by many critics as a landmark anime film, one that influenced much of the art in the anime world that followed its release with many illustrators in the manga industry citing the film as an important influence. Manga author Masashi Kishimoto, for example, recalls becoming fascinated with the way the poster was made and wished to imitate the series' creator Katsuhiro Otomo's style. The film had a significant impact on popular culture worldwide. The film led the way for the growth in popularity of anime outside Japan as well as Japanese popular culture in the Western world. It has gone on to inspire some of the greatest cyberpunk related/science fiction related media including Blade Runner, Ghost in the shell, Cowboy Bebop, Matrix, Serial Experiments Lain, Elfed Lied, The Dark Knight, Godzilla, Into the Spider Verse, Star Wars(Prequel), Snatcher and Metal Gear Solid
Conclusion: Akira is anime cinema at its most beautiful, with a cyberpunk city compared to that of Blade Runner. Its a visual marvel to this day with brutal action scenes that are perfectly animated and brought to life by the mangaka legend himself Katsuhiro Otomo. Seeing our main characters Kaneda and Tetsuo friendship devolve into an all out war for neo tokyo leads the viewer on an epic ride full of telekinetic powers, biker gang showdowns, and disturbing imagery that will remain in the viewer's psyche. Topped off with a beautiful score composed by Shoji Yamashiro, and Akira becomes quite possibly the best and most significant film in anime history.
