The cliche stories of JRPGs tell of the lowly peasant at level 1 turning into the hero by leveling up skills, gaining experience, acquiring resources, then finally defeating the big bad demon lord thus bringing peace upon the land. The zero to hero story told over millennia.
What these stories don’t include is what happens after. Hero finds himself back at the kingdom and finds that it’s not over. The king is wary of the intentions of the superpowered hero. The nobles are positioning themselves in a bid to usurp the throne. And the people are revolting from all the destruction caused by the great Demon-Human

War. Now that his original purpose has been served, what is he to do now? What does he want?
Season two of Jaku-Chara Tomozaki-kun takes place right after the first so little time has passed. The first season was already a good gamification take on life and school interpersonal drama. MC starts from being an apathetic, friendless, otaku to having friends, helping other people using his own unique approaches and experiences, and bringing more “color” into his life. He levels up his interpersonal and social skills, gains experience to make his efforts more consistent, and acquires a group of loyal friends.
Season two ups the ante for the MC. It’s not enough to string together a conversation with someone or have friends to hang out with. It’s dealing with bullying when the forceful approach isn’t possible, and the target isn’t you. It’s addressing the long-held insecurities that make you feel unworthy of being loved. It’s making the realization of what life you want and who to share it with. Season two is when you thought you completed the main quest, but it was just part one. Season two is what happens to the hero after defeating the big bad.
Jaku-Chara is a show focused on self-improvement and self-realization packaged in a regular school setting. It uses game design and mechanics to make it easy to understand the rules of “life” in a way that shows progression, while awkward and rocky, is possible. Jaku-Chara shows that life is a “God-tier game”, that the rules aren’t as obscure as you’d think, and that balance issues are features, not bugs. Definitely a recommendation if you’re looking for something that focuses on character growth.

I give Netoge a tentative recommendation only if you’re looking for an anime that’s like fast food for the brain. The story’s premise centers around helping Ako with her inability to separate reality and fiction (the world of a generic fantasy MMORPG). Her addiction to gaming is so strong she has moments where she disassociates from reality. This negatively affects her life until she meets the rest of her guild in person and finds out they all go to the same school and start a gaming club together.
However, if you’re looking for a serious show that explores mental illness, addiction, loneliness, and society at large,
...
this ain’t it. Though you have some scenes of Ako’s psychosis, it’s passed off as cute ditzy girl moments. Her belief that “marriage” in a game = marriage in real life actually gets encouraged by the group for romcom moments. She’s eager to pounce on the male MC and eager to please like a typical male fantasy anime. It also force feeds heavy spoonfuls of fanservice.
While it barely covers her mental illness, you do see her getting somewhat better as she bonds with real life friends and learns about the real life boy she “married” in the game. Nothing really happens in the story: there’s gaming moments, beach moments, romance moments, and fin.

What I like about the two seasons of Kanojo mo Kanojo is that it fully embraces its identity of nonsensical shenanigans, gags, and cringe that comes in a messy but entertaining package. The second season is more of the same. It adds more fanservice and when it does, it goes even further than the first season (within tv ratings of course). It adds more drama towards the end that’s surprisingly well done. Having a bunch of stupid characters become serious and surprisingly competent makes those moments even better. Approaching this anime with any form of logic or reason is just going to make you be
...
turned off by the anime. You have to turn off your brain and just enjoy the ride. This is how you’ll enjoy the show.
Cringe? Well, we’ll make the plot even more brain dead and the shenanigans as ridiculous as ever.
Stupid characters? Well, let's make them absolutely stupid and laugh at them.
Fanservice? Yes.
Wait, our own staff are cringing at the cringe? Let's add a couple moe shots of best girl in the end.
It makes no sense because it’s not grounded in reality…and I enjoyed it. I was smiling through the entire season. Realize it for what it is and have fun. You’ll know if you’re the type to enjoy it or not.

Tasogare Otome x Amnesia is a blended anime with bits of mystery, comedy, and romance. It starts when a boy named Teiichi Niiya decides to explore an old building in his school that is rumored to be haunted by a ghost. After meeting the ghost, who turns out to be a curvy, eccentric girl named Yuuko Kanoe, Teiichi decides to help her find out the truth about her death with the help of the Paranormal Investigation Club.
The anime does a good job of balancing the different genres, and the characters all compliment each other. The mystery of Yuuko's death is the main plot for the
...
story, and it evolves as the show progresses. The comedy works as the club members play off each other with their character traits: eccentric and flirty ghost, annoyed and cowardly shrine maiden, impressionable and gullible kouhai, and the passive and typical MC. The romance develops over the course of the series and brings everything to a conclusion. There's also plenty of fan service as well.
While the genre mix gives variety to the show, it also makes each high moment feel short. The mystery and suspense gets sidetracked often when the club members start messing with each other for fun. Fan service also detracts the viewer from the story and any previous moments of seriousness.
The entire romance plot only really comes alive in the last few episodes, where previous episodes were a mix of ghost flirting and fan service. There were a lot of ways to make it truly come alive and memorable, but the lack of show time and imagination dilutes it from what it could be.
The comedy is what binds the show together. The light-hearted interactions between the club members are fun and entertaining, and they fill out most of the show. I think this was done to keep the anime from being too heavy to its audience.
Overall, Tasogare Otome x Amnesia is an enjoyable anime that is worth watching for fans of mystery, comedy, and romance. It's a good show that makes the adventure enjoyable without any discomfort. This is not Higurashi or Elfen Lied, and that's totally fine.

Tsuki ga Kirei is a sweet and innocent anime following two awkward and shy middle school students who fall in love. You watch them navigate their first relationship, deal with the challenges of growing up, and prepare for the most important decision of their lives which is high school selection.
There's a lot of "Yeah..." "Ok..." "..." as you watch them communicate. You watch this awkwardness evolve as they become more comfortable with and learn about each other. It abstains from a lot of the prevalent tropes in the genre. There’s no melodrama or over-the-top comedy which makes it more refreshing to me though some may

think of the show as boring.
The CGI does look awkward at times but the director tries to capture beautiful scenes with a mix of colors and music. The anime does a good job of conveying the feelings of love and affection in those scenes. The ending left a heartwarming feeling and I definitely recommend it for anyone who loves awkward romances or is tired of clichés.
