Well, I just finished bingeing this manga, and I would have to say this is one of the best yaoi/shounen ai manga I have ever read.

Most yaoi manga I have read are pretty cliched when it comes to the story. If you take the basic premise, it's not that original. But original stories are hard to write and I think this one grabs the reader's attention by the way it tells the story. It may be a love at first sight kind of thing, but there's so much more to this story. It brings up many issues in the gay community, HIV/AIDS, cheating, abuse, ...

I'm not sure why there hasn't been a review for this series yet, but I decided I would go ahead and be the first to do so. (It's been a while since I've reviewed anything in depth, so bear with me!)

Umibe no Etranger (or Seaside Stranger) is not one of those yaoi stories where they fall in love immediately and then it's just sex, something happens, then more sex. Umibe no Etranger maturely covers issues such as loss, loneliness, and isolation while still managing to be pretty light-hearted and beautiful (seriously, the art is gorgeous).

This is a romance, but don't expect a happy fairy tale ending. What I love about this movie is how real the romance is. Things don't always work out. The main character learned that he couldn't keep holding on to the past because it was ruining his life, but he learned to move on and focus on the future.
The backgrounds are absolutely stunning in this movie. They look almost real while still looking animated. While the character designs are kind of ordinary and the animation of the characters is not always amazing, I still gave the overall art a 10 out of 10. Although the ...
