Zom 100 has a really good start, it visually looks cool, and what they do with the colours and the directing seems really unique and well done at first.
After sitting with it a while my impressions did lessen off the show, as its uniqueness wore a way leaving a cheesy but nice feel good adventure. Whilst I would say this show isn't always the best written show, some points in it feel relatively bad, it is always one which I had fun with and could often put a smile on my face due to its feel good nature.

chance to do what they really want to do but couldn't before an apocalypses, zombie pandemics are often the subject of fear, or gruesome action, this show is unique in how the pandemic is more about a feel good show, one to inspire you to do the things you want to do yourself. Because of that nature I often do think the feel good aspect takes the center even in the writing, some of the situatiions are outright silly, and teh main characters literally seem incredibly op compared to regular people. Zombies are scary as heck if your not a main character and complete fodder if you are, there movement speed does become incredibly suspect to what is convenient for the story as well.
The character are good enough, they have goals, things they want to do and well definited personalities, there not overly complex but they have room for expansion and are completely likeable. Though the side characters are honesty a little weak. The comedy can be mixed for me as well it gets some laughs and other times I'm like really, you think that's funny.
But honestly poor story and side characters aside, what this show does well and why I ultimately recommend it, is that it can still often put a smile on my face. Seeing characters despite the odds managing to have fun in the most dire circumstances and this show be a bit silly despite the setting does make me feel good, I generally do leave most episodes feeling rather positive and upbeat, and the show really does do the feel good quite successfully.
This is a fun show, it's story honeslty is a bit weak, and I do wonder if I will get bored of it it were to have another season, but as it stands it succeeded on putting a smile on my face and making me feel good, and if that is exactly what you want then I would recommend this show to you.

Just finished this show and I have to say I’m mostly pretty positive on it. It is kind of crazy how different this adaptation is from the newer one, they feel so completely different. The contrast can easily shows how Madhouse used to have more vision than they currently do.
This show feels more like a series of short stories about its characters than one continuous plot, though it does have an overarching story. Some of the character stories are really interesting and explore great themes, other can be a bit boring. I think my biggest complaint I will throw out about this show, is that

I don’t find many of the characters in this show relatable, so when I’m watching it, it’s more from the intrigue of the story, rather than just because I like x character.
For the most part this works, and the great atmosphere really carry’s this show it feels dark and spooky and the filter really accentuates the distorted city. It may not look too great, but it carries a heavy dark atmosphere really well.
This show does feel confusing at times (more so than the modern version, which a lot of people said was), and that is partly because its narrative is more about the characters with the story connecting it all being more in the background, you can piece it all together by the end but there will be some points early on when you might feel a bit lost in regards to this.
Whilst I would say 3 or 4 episodes of this series did kind of bore me, I did really appreciate the unconventional storytelling, the dark and absorbing atmosphere, and how it handled some of its themes and character stories.
Overall this is a pretty great work one where I find it hard to imagine a show being like this being made again.
For alternative recommendations if you loved the atmosphere I would point to Serial Experiments Lain, with a similar dark and heavy one.
Or if your more in to the character stories, I would recommend Welcome to Irabu’s Office, which is a psychiatrist breaking down his patients psychological issues in a weird and wonderful way.

This really was a unique show and I highly enjoyed it. This show is more about meaning than story telling, what things represents and the ideas and themes which tie in, there is a lot of metaphors and representation in this show.
This obviously makes it a bit confusing, and maybe you could say non coherent, but its these traits in how it tells the story which makes unique and enjoyable to me. I love the characterization, I love the themes, I wouldn't purport to know what everything represents in this show but I did enjoy thinking about what was shown and what messages it tried

to represent.
If I were to rewatch this show, I'm sure there would a lot more details and ideas I would pick upon as well.
I did enjoy some of the character journeys and characterization although some of them I would have liked a more satisfying conclusion to. It could also throw you off a bit on how they jump around, the story isn't always one continuous narrative, the next episode could happen a month after, which can feel a bit jarring at first.
The soundtrack whilst not always present really did hit when it appeared and I loved the ed and inserts musically as well. The artstyle was great, I liked the character designs, the backgrounds and how it represented the more abstract things in this anime.
Overall this was a great show, and is something I wouldn't really expect Madhouse to make anymore, Its hard to think of similar examples maybe its like Kino's Journey in some respects or FLCL in others, but not really. Its definitely a unique show, which goes an unconventional route in portraying its messages and themes, one I found highly enjoyable and probably the best show I have watched this year.

Tonally very different to its predecessor as it leaves the comedy and idols behind to become a much more serious military drama, whilst that might remove an aspect of what made Macross unique it does fit the story rather well.
Its a pretty good entry, the story was engaging, the themes whilst not unique were still there and handled well and the characters were good. I do think this series could have benefitted from a bit more fleshing out both in terms of its characters and stories but they still did a pretty good job.

there models obviously look worse, but the choreography and battles with them were still really cool and fun to watch.
The soundtrack actually didn't stand out to me for the most part, apart from one or two pieces here and there, but the pieces towards the end really stood out giving me chills and emotions.
For a five episode ova its definitely worth the time and I quite enjoyed it overall.

After finishing the og series, I went straight into this film and it was a really fun experience.
This film looked really good, in terms of detail and animation, its up there for one of the nicest films i’ve seen and unlike the og there isn’t really any massive quality drops which I noticed. The ost was yet again really good and i liked the new versions which was added.
I wasn’t sure about how this film rewrites some of the stuff from the series, but I do think it kind of makes more sense this way, I’m just a bit mixed about them doing that in

the first place.
This film doesn’t work at all as a replacement to the original series it just doesn’t have the development or depth, they get away with not explaining things just because you have seen the series.
The final battle to this was a spectacle the music and animation greatly improved upon the og series and it was a really epic moment. I did like how the romance had a more decisive ending to it, and overall this film feels like a patch to the og rather than a remake or anything else as it simply can’t replace it with how it skims over some things.
I enjoyed this film a lot and it is definitely worth watching for people who have seen the og, but decided not to give this ago, there is new content here, and the rehashed content was mostly improved upon.

Macross is a very engaging narrative, its mix of genres from scfi action, to comedy and romance helped keep it fresh.
I really appreciated that not every episode had to be about fighting as well the show took the time to have episodes which are simply about its character which I very much enjoyed.
The portrayal of war was done relatively well and so was the growthy of its character, who overcame the horrors of the battle and really felt like they grew by the end.
My main criticism might be that I didn't feel that attached to anyone character, whilst I believe they all got a fair

amount of characterization and growth, if I were to ask myself who I liked that much I wouldn't feel that compelled to answer and that mostly comes down to how selfish characters can be in this show.
The ost is really great, however like a lot of shows in this era it did feel like they repeated the same track a bit too much, but the tracks on their own were still really good and I very much enjoyed them.
As far as the animation goes it could look beautiful but there are moments where the quality drops or it just looks janky and it can take you out the moment, so it is a bit of a double edged sword, but at its best it looks really great.
Macross to me was really enjoyable, despite its mix of genres it did them all very well and was just overall a very fun ride.

For a show I initially dropped after a few episodes it did turn out to be great, it really is an inspirational story with great characters, there are some caveats to that though.
The first being that show is nowhere near done and I didn't get to see what I wanted to see from the show, the manga isn't finished yet so it will be a while before I read it. The pacing can be a bit weird sometimes, from feeling very slow, to sometimes even feeling a bit fast as they skip past some events. It reuses a lot of OSTs, and this show annoys

me with how it omits important details a lot only to flashback to it after moving past it, it is used to create suspense but it also killed it for me on some occasions.
Now with that all being said this is still a great show and that mainly is from the characters, they are all just very human, they're not archetype's and they have there ups and downs not only do they feel very human but a lot are very likable as well. This show is definitely carried by its great cast of characters.
This is a story about an unemployed guy trying to relive his childhood dream of being an astronaut and the show does a really good job and just feel motivational and aspiring from watching the characters get even closer to that dream.
Whilst I would have liked a more satisfyingly conclusion to this and I do have my gripes, overall it was a great show which I enjoyed quite a bit.
For an alternative recommendation I would point somebody to Planetes, like this its grounded in reality, the show is already based in space, but just like Space Brothers it becomes about chasing dreams its also very much complete at 26 episodes.

Tokyo Revengers, is a mixed bag for me, I find some of the characters charming, but the MC largely annoying, the story can get me excited and on the edge of my seat but it also can seem a bit dumb in places without much thought on getting from A to B.
If your looking for a show with a similar concept to Erased, then this show has you covered, though it is less mystery based (though you will speculate on a lot of things) and definitely the more emotional ride.
My biggest gripe with this show is the mc, he is from the future has the

ability to go back and forth but is really dumb in just about everything he does. He doesn't know about phones, he doesn't plan, or think about what to do, if he is going to change the past he just goes back and then shouts and gets beaten up saying 'I can't tell you why but please don't, over and over.' His plan literally for everything is to whine, and whilst it can be empowering when getting beaten up and showing grit works out, it gets a bit annoying where he basically defaults to this over and over.
He doesn't bother going to the future to see if something he has changed works out, until after the event in question has already past or just to keep gathering knowledge he could use in the past. He doesn't use his the ability to its full potential in the slightest.
Apart from that I like the characters, Draken is really cool, so is Takemitchy and Hina and generally the side characters are all quite likable and charming, it does well with its side, but the main is just annoying to me.
The story has its problems of some things not being explained that well or maybe seeming a bit shounen at times, but overall its engaging and there are exciting moments in this show.
The animation and sound are fine, I like both the op and ed, I don't really notice the OST but I don't in like half the shows I watch.
Overall would I recommend this show? Well as something to watch this season then yes, its quite fun in concept and has a bunch of charming characters, but if we were to go forward in time a year and this stayed the same quality, I wouldn't say this is worth going back to. To me this is on the better side of decent, I do like it, but it isn't that great or anything. (hopefully I'm wrong and the show shakes things up in the later half)

The movie to this series is like a high production episode to the series, and everybody who liked the series will obviously like this movie, but if the series isn't your thing then this won't change your mind.
For me Kimetsu no Yaiba is fine, I'm not too keen on any of the characters, how can I say it they're a bit too goofy and simplistic for the most part, I liked the horror aesthetic they were going for but they always betrayed that by changing the art style and inserting comedy into a horror like atmosphere. This film has all the problems I had with

the series carried over.
To be more specific to the film I felt like the first half was underwhelming, it had a lot of the issues mentioned before and it just wasn't exciting, I was wondering how they were going to drag it out to be two hours. The final boss which was exciting as we were awarded with some really cool high production action though some of the scenes with the new characters would have hit me more if had more time to actually get to know them.
Overall this film to me was fine, it was a bit on the boring side to begin with, but I enjoyed it mostly for the cool action and production values. The story and characters are nothing impressive, but the film still was entertaining enough for me to say I didn't waste my time
Would I recommend it? Well its easy did you like s1? if yes then watch it.

I really like gambling anime and among those were some really great mahjong anime like Legendary Gambler Tetsuya and Akagi, which I watched and thoroughly enjoyed without knowing the rules to Mahjong. I decided to learn richi mahjong as a result and now that I have become reasonably cocmpetant I wanted a new anime to watch and see if I appreciate it more now that I know the game.
I really didn’t know anything about Saki other than it being a Mahjong anime I knew nothing about it. Its actually not really a gambling anime, whilst mahjong is a gambling game, its not played for money

just friendly points, and it comes off more as a sports manga with highschool girls trying to get to nationals with their respective clubs.
The plot synopsis isn’t really much more than that, its about a girl named Saki, who doesn’t like mahjong much, she gets pulled into by her friend Kyou into joining the Mahjong club, after discovering she enjoys playing Mahjong to win her and her club aim to compete in the nationals, which unlike regular mahjong is played a team where you take in turns swapping between members after one has played both an east and a south.
Saki isn’t as enjoyable to me as a regular gambling anime what I like is the high stakes thrill the psychological warfare and tension, Saki has this a bit, but it doesn’t have this much. A few characters namely like the president focus on reading people and gauging their weaknesses in order to out play them which I really love, but mainly this anime is about absurd powers, rather than outplaying each other for the most part.
Think Kuroko’s no basket, and how you like have emperors eye, invisibility, copycat, but I would say this anime seems even less grounded than that one. Abilities to see the future, being possessed by Gods, and just straight up drawing the tile you want are all abilities you can see in this anime.
And that’s my problem its fun in how absurd it is and it can be pretty cool, but to me it’s a bit too ridiculous, that and I dislike the main character’s ability.
Saki the main characters, isn't bad per se, but she is quite bland and passivein terms of personality. What's more she comes across as the superman of mahjong despite not playing since she was a kid. She has absurd luck and game sense and the ability to draw any tile she needs when she gets kan. Whenever she is loosing its because of her own mentality, whether she doesn’t want to win, lacks confidence, or is scared by the other characters, its more her own mental blocks which stops her. Her ability is so op when she is in the right frame of mind nobody can really stop her.
The other main character is probably Nodoka who gets sexualised a lot through this anime as the big breasted champion of middle school, she plays a more logical style of mahjong based on probability, which is nice, however she mostly zones out when playing so I don’t get see her thought process as much as I liked.
The coolest club member to me would probably be the club president, she is the cool schemer always watching over her group, and her style of mahjong is about exploiting her opponent’s weaknesses, she was always the most fun to watch whenever it was her turn to play
The rest of the club members are there but I don’t think there is much to say they’re kind of flat to me, I think the worst culprit of this is probably Kyou, he is like the one male character in this show who sucks at Mahjong to the extent they state he isn’t even worth training. Alls he does is run errands and think of sexual fantasies of the other characters, It would be better if they did something with him, as it stands he seem kind of pointless.
Going outside the main club members I have to say there opponents get a decent amount of back story and development, that there were some cool characters who I ended up liking. But equally this show could bore me with the flashbacks within in the match with the characters I wasn’t interested in so its equal sums here.
So what do I think of Saki? I think it is an enjoyably absurd show, which the knowledge of Mahjong doesn’t help too much as the absurd powers makes it feel pretty detached to me. Its fun but it isn’t great, known of the characters are well developed and the games do feel like they’re a competition of crazy powers rather than skill. But despite that there is a tension and enjoyment to the games in this anime, its just nothing compared to the other mahjong I have seen namely Akagi or Tetsuya.
Overall I would give Saki and its sequel a 6.5/10 it could be fun, but was lacking in many ways.
A warning if you do want to watch this that it doesn’t finish its final arc, and if you want to swap to the manga to finish it, it is going painfully slow and looks like it will take years to finish.
If you want a better mahjong anime which is more tense and focused on skill I would recommend Akagi. Or if you want another absurd sports show there is always the aforementioned Kuroko which has its own crazy powers and is about a highschool team going to nationals as well.
