No explicit story spoilers, but story and character structure
If i had to condense my review in one sentence: Huge wasted potential.
The plot usually goes like this: Strong enemies appear -> non-important Heroes losen - > Boss Heroes appear -> win -> research data found -> now we are stronger! -> Rinse and repeat 500 times.
It has the Dragonball Z element into it without an equally likeable cast or story structure. The reason are the two Characters Frankenstein and Raizel. They are always so on top of things, like extremely on top, there is no real danger or any lasting consequence. They just walk through things.
...
If i had to explain it in RPG-terms it would be like level 1000 and lvl 600 characters go to a lvl 5 dungeon and then 10 and then 12 and so on.
Enemies just appear and disappear. Raizel and Frankenstein are interesting characters but at the same time, really bad for the plot.
The character designs are awesome and the world building is handled pretty well. The constant we are too cool for this world stares and looks get annoying though. It is the Aizen stare from bleach, without the mocking smile.
It still is a fine Manhwa and worth a read in spare time but especially in the end and at some parts you get the feeling the author just wanted to be done with this.

Update2: * At the end
Review update:
Anime only here, spoilers about this season.
People talk about huge world-building and character developments and here i am
thinking what they are talking about? I get the feeling that those people are webtoon-reader
who project their feeling and knowldge of the other medium to this medium.
...
From day 1 you probaly saw comments like "You will hate Rachel!", "Rachel is a b..!", it was unavoidable. Be it under the comments of the official crunchyroll clips or anywhere else in an episode discussion forum.
There is clearly a disconnect here. I still don't get why she did the things she did, why tests are held out the way they are, why the life of someone seemingly not being worth anthing, where the people come from (all the different races), what the outside world is like, why the tower is build like it is(is it really a tower or a huge world on every floor?). There is no world building or character building here, it's just throwing bunch of information without improving on any of them. Nothing gets resolved and when bringing up this point to those who read the webtoon, they reply with "this is just the prologue". This might be true but unfortunately i have to rate this as it is without knowing what might happen in the future or of things you know and get the context of.
First of all, the most important thing: I don't hate Rachel (not yet)
Stating this is like being blasphmous. But even though i saw the thing she did, i don't know why she did it, how can you as an anime-only? You can assume things, still there could be a whole lot of motives. You might know the truth as a reader but i don't know as of yet. Did Bam do anything horrible to her? Is he being very possesive of her? Bam seems like a genuine good person and it is unimaginable to think he would do something bad to her but at times he comes of like a stalker. In my opinion Rachel wants to get away from him desperately and yet he clings to her. She cloakes herself to stay hidden from him and turns her back, yet he follows her. This is not a healthy relationship. We obviously have the main character bias. The main character obviously is almost always the good guy or at least not the bad one. So it probably safe to assume he did nothing wrong; still i will wait until i have more information.
Two categories i want to elaborate on:
Music:
It is Kevin Penkin and you can hear he had a lot of new ideas for this soundtrack. Beautiful and without it, this season and its defining moments would have a lot less impact if any at all. Top!
Chracter:
Average at best. I liked the character of Endorsi and Anaak (the one who got fleshed out the most) but the main character Bam is boring as it gets. But this is not a negatove point because in my opinion this is wanted. He is still like a blank canvas and he gradually fills it with color. Khun on the other hand seems he is full of it, pessimistic to the core which is understandable. Rak and the others are mostly just there as set-pieces. There is not much development for them in this season but not everybody needs a dramatic development just for the sake of it.
To be honest, without being deragotory, this seems to be written by a teenager or by an unexperienced author AND/OR is badly directed and paced.
Here is hoping season 2 will improve things. This has a huge potential in the right hands and i still don't know it the author is the correct one. He seems to have a whole lot of ideas but didn't know how to flesh out each of them. I also hope Bam doesn't become some edgy emo character now, because of what happened. This would be too predictable and wouldn't fit him knowing him, how kind-hearted and naive he seems to be, he would probably first assume she had a reason in doing so and would seek the blame in himself first.
* Well, you expected a reason for Rachels behaviour, something that justifies what she did, and we got one, but it is not one i, at the very least, expected. I love it. Not an unnecessarily complex reason but a convincing one. Calling her a psycopath goes maybe a tad to far, but she is a manipulative one, who at times knows she is doing wrong but still decides to step over corpses. Her character is the fresh air i needed in this anime. 7/10 for me now.

Aside from some implications (if you've read the manga), this should be spoiler-free:
Some think perfect stories need to be convoluted, twists after twist, stories need to be complex, that you get the details after you watch it a second or third time, something never seen or heard of, never even thought of.
Characters need to have a complex nature, they should be full of surprises, a mosaic. A character who just wants to see the sun, who just wants to save his sister, is not good enough, he/she should want more, because of something unthinkable that has happened in his/her past which made him the way
...
he is. Why not get power? Why not be the strongest? Why not be the richest? Why not be some caricature of a character?
That's just not true. That necessarily doesn't make a good story and character. The best story in the world can become dull if someone unfitting tells it. And on the other side, the worst story in the world can be good if the perfect narrator tells it.
A good story is one which is narrated by the right person.
This is the case with Kimetsu no Yaiba. It is a well narrated story which focuses itself on it's small cast of characters without getting convoluted. It doesn't need to expand the world or his cast. Thankfully Gotoge never loses her focus. There doesn't need to be a bigger baddie with some insane motives after the other, like in Naruto. There doesn't need to be 100 islands with 2000 characters, like in One Piece. (I enjoyed and enjoy both series, they're good in their own regard, that's beside the point)
Once you get into the art, its very cute side-characters (those dot-eyes^^) and jokes you get absorbed into the story. The last arc was very intense for me bc i really liked the cast. Waiting for the next chapter was hard.
I'm sad that this was the last chapter but i'm happy she didn't extend the story for the sake of money and ended it perfectly. Kimetsu no Yaiba is globally acclaimed, she could have sold-out if she wanted to like many other mangaka. Thank you for not doing that.

This show is fun. At first i thought it will probably be the next fanservice anime, which it is, but it actually gives good information. As someone who works out i'm impressed how well they explain things.
I usually don't like fanservice when it distracts too much form the story or the camera is awkwardly placed to allow an upskirt but oddly, since this anime has not much of a story, it is not bothersome. And anybody who works out knows how much fanservice there is in a fitness center. Some of it is actually pretty accurate.
You can to an extent identify with the mc. Who
...
doesn't try to cheat or sets up cheat days? Who isn't tempted to buy and eat something unhealthy when being out with firends? Or who isn't exhausted always looking atthe back of groceries to see how much sugar, fat and protein they have. It depicts those difficulties especially when starting beautifully.
Still, the moaning and the angle can get too awkward at times so there is that, know this if you dislike fanservice more than i do.
All in all a fine series.

Episode 898 proved it again, this Anime is not worth the time. What happened? It began so strongly, with an anmiation and art-style which needed some time to get used to it but once you did, it suddenly fit. Moreso the story was so rich after a while, you didn't even think about it.
But let us get to the present time.
The most recent Episode showed perfectly what is wrong with One Piece. It drags too much. It takes up to 5 minutes and sometimes longer with one character building up his technique. To fill more time, the main characters fight side characters who have
...
no purpose in the story than just to get beaten up. But it takes up so much time as if something interesting is happening. You learn nothing new, there is no story progress, but those battles takes 10 minutes and more of the airtime. It is always used for comedic purposes and to show how strong the mc is. We know. We saw it 6000 times already. It doesn't matter if you put cool music under it, even the music starts to become unbearable. The mangaka Oda knows, he draws one or two panels with those and moves on.
The worst part are the One Piece apologists. And i don't mean those who truly enjoy the show and defend it, bless them. I mean those who see the problems, are aware of it, they don't like it either but since they protected and defended this show since the beginning against Naruto and Bleach, yes that far back the Big 3 times, it became their second nature.
If i didn't invest so much time in this show i would've dropped it. The characters are likeable though some characters now became so one-dimensional, they became boring. I don't see this as much of a problem because i trust Oda to create an arc where they will get a progress.
As already stated, the characters, even side characters are the strong point of this show. The story is interesting and is building up since years, though you still can't see where it is going. Enel going to the moon, when everybody thought he is just mad, seems to have a bigger plot role than thought. This is how One Piece catches you. You can engage in many theories and conspiracies. Who doesn't love to do that?
I've long decided to read the manga and the only reason i watch the show is because of my little cousin who likes to come over and watch it with me, since i pamper him. He still enjoys it, but he is 8.

You remember the buzz around this Anime even before it aired? Yeah, me too and i want to forget it. The hate that the new staff got is undeserved. They can't keep up with the Animation of the first Season, but this Season proves that an Anime is more than just animation. It is about the story. The best animation with the worst story or a bad storyteller is not worth much. Everything needs to work, it needs to be complementary.
One Punch Season 2 introduced one of the best Characters in the series to date: Garou. He is weird, his character feels ambivalent but he
...
is damn cool. He says stuff but then does the opposite (is it the opposite though?). Decide for yourself, i think that is the point with him to an extent.
The storytelling is beautiful. The sound and the music never feel out of place and know how to pump you up, letting you want more. In terms of storytelling i rate this season higher than the first one. It has more backbone to work off and it does that without any effort.
The weird thing about One Punch Man is, you don't want to see Saitama that much, he is boring. Which is the point of his character, his whole being: being him is boring. The point i want to make is though is another; this series has so many good and deep characters at this point and their struggle is the real reason you want to see more. That doesn't mean Saitama is unnecessary. He has his speeches, his remarks and is the kind of guy to show someone pretentious, just chill, you are not that great. What is great about you is not your strength/weakness, but your personality. And contrary to what i said above, in those situations, one is happy to see Saitama.
A good series, undeservedly hated. I feel bad for the cast for this beautiful Anime. Job well done guys/girls. It's the internet. Sometimes the white noise gets too loud. Watch and decide for yourself.

This will probably be my first and only review, but after watching Episode 12 of "Yakusoku no Neverland" and finishing the series, i just needed to write it down. This review won't have any spoilers in it and will entirely be subjective (which any review in actuality is).
As a manga reader of the same series, i had unhealthy expectations to the anime, i feared they will cut to much, will struggle to get the emotions through or fail at the art style; in short: a cheap knockoff just for the name, which happens unfortunately to many animes. I couldn't be more wrong and so happy
...
about it.
First of all: If you know anything about the plot, besides maybe the first Episode, it will diminish the enjoyment, the reveal, the twist and the mindgames by a lot. So, go in blind, don't read any summary, don't look up pictures, just watch.
Did they cut things? Yes. Did they use Cgi? Yes. Did they change some scenes? Yes. And here i have to already cut and say, the director, sound designer and the animation just works and they did a tremendous job. Despite the cuts, everything gets through, the music is not just there, it complements the story and the animation is effortlessly able to create suspense, fear, sadness, happiness and everything else. The CGI is used beautiully in the background modestly and looks actually good (i say that as someone who actually hates CGI in Anime because it is mostly used in a cheap way). It's like the whole team actually worked as a team and sat down and discussed things.
This is a character based and dialogue heavy Anime, the focus undoubtetly lies there, which means if you can't connect to any of the protagonists and even antagonists you will probably not enjoy this as much. But i would say, give it a shot.
In conclusion this Anime is an easy 10/10 for me and not only that, i think it is at least in my top 3. Someone really cared about this and i can feel that. Thank you for that.
