If you're like me, then most of the reason you read manga, is because you like to see the development of relationships and characters. This series does that really well in my opinion. I think the development of Kuroki (the main character) is done very well. It doesn't feel rushed like I've seen in other stories. She and the other characters are also much more human feeling. She's kind of a terrible, petty person but it makes her more relatable, interesting and in a strange way very likeable. This was super annoying to watch. I was excited because it seemed like a good concept, but it fell flat on its face. Super boring and frustrating. Meaningless dialogue and poor character motivation. A complete lack of character development. There were scenes where I was literally screaming at the TV "Fire the damn gun!" Because it was so frustratingly slow. I thought, wow I didn't think you could get worse about dragging out a scene than DBZ, but this one takes the cake. 13 ep of nothing happening. The final monster fight (much like all the others) was all frustration and no excitement.

This was honestly really disappointing. Please do not let this deter you from reading the Manga. The Manga truly is great.
With that out of they way, this anime completely misses the mark on the characters relationship, motovation and even over sexualizes the scenario. You may say, well duh its sexualized, it's about S&M. But truly the Manga does not posses extreme sexual overtones. It's much more about her enduring stress, discovering things about herself, the relief after their "breathers" and the strange yet loving relationship developing between the two childhood friends. I felt that it was very misleading in almost every aspect of the source ...

I think people are a little overly harsh on this short series. I think maybe people are a little closed minded when it comes to sexual situations like this. But I found it fun and interesting. I really liked Makoto's personally and I enjoyed her journey, discovering herself. Although I do feel the end was a little rushed, overall I liked it and wished it was longer when I finished it. That's how I rate things, if it ends and I'm sad there's not more then it's good in my book.
Give it a try and don't take it too seriously, it's just entertainment after ... |
