It's generic, but in a good way.
If you are a fan of the typical 2019 isekai story of an OP protagonist with a RPG menu building a harem, then this is a great read to scratch that itch. It's got everything from generic bad guys with the typical 1-D bad guy personality - to dragons taking human form as a girl. So far the protagonist remains top dog saving girls left and right. If you are into this type of story, then I would recommend giving this manga a read.

On the surface that is the gist of everything that is going on here. We follow the interactions between a salary-woman and the teasing that she does. I am certainly looking into this too much, but I do think that this story does teach some kind of lesson. It tries to emphasize achieving balance with work and play by contrasting the behaviors of the characters. 「Saihate no Paladin」is an amazingly good and refreshing read.
The premise is very promising - A priest of a goddess who is all but forgotten coming from a faraway land to save the world. So far the delivery has not disappointed and exceeds my expectations. The storytelling is done extremely well and at a good pace. It's so interesting that I am willing to read each page slowly while eagerly awaiting the next one. Recently, I've been seeing a lot of these new-take or alternative demon lord stories. And, I think that this is beautiful. The old demon lord stereotype has been used repeatedly for countless years and I'm happy that stories like this are starting to become more common - giving us readers more variety to read.

If you like resolution in the stories that you read, then this will likely interest you. I have never read a story with such a mysterious beginning and open ended vibe that has been able to conclude in a satisfying ending that answers pretty much every question that you could have about it. The author does a splendid job at tying everything together and while things do remain a mystery during the events of the story, everything is made to fit like a puzzle and makes complete sense in the end. My first reaction while reading the beginning few chapters was ... I've never read anything quite like this before, and I don't mean that in a bad way.
I read the story description first and thought, 'an old woman transforming into a magical girl? get outta here!'. And while the themes aren't as fully flushed out as they could be, this manga does present some pretty thoughtful questions. Using the experience that comes with age and combining it with a renewed youth, our obaa-san protagonist forgoes the traditional methods of stopping evil. The story does not flow well and is borderline incoherent. I'm 19 chapters in and I am extremely confused.
I desperately tried to find something outstanding about this manga, but I was able to find no such thing. I would say that the story is very average and the premise does not immediately make for a poor reading experience, but the structure of the storytelling is done poorly. Maoyuu Maou Yuusha is unique and makes for a great read, both in terms of adventure and thought.
This manga certainly does have long walls of text, but they are not boring. I believe a unique trait of Japanese manga is it's ability to explain a certain topic in great detail, yet while driving off boredom. And, Maoyuu Maou Yuusha certainly does a great job at doing that. I never thought that I'd read a story about insurance and enjoy it, yet here I am.
The fantasy world template has been used over and over again to breathe life and excitement into situations or ideas that otherwise would not be exciting to read. Somehow Nishi Yoshiyuki has been able to take the most boring thing on earth possible; insurance, and turn that into am exciting and comedic adventure story. The first few chapters are ridiculous and really fun to read, after that the premise of the story starts to set in and after each additional chapter that initial shock is replaced with curiosity. I am left wondering what sea creature's story will be told next. I like the way that the minor characters are portrayed and even though we don't get to spend much time on them, it feels like it's enough. Another funny thing is that they include recipes for dishes in the story too.
The recurring jokes are good, and the level of seriousness is appropriate for the story. I'd recommend this series ... |
