If you haven't watched the tv show or at least completed the "Unlimited Blade Works" arc of the visual novel. You won't enjoy this movie very much, since the characters have little to no introduction and the story moves really fast. It's very clear from the beggining that the plot development assumes the viewer already knows a bunch of things.
Story: 8
As i said before, the story develops at the speed of light. It's heavy on fights and light on background information. During the first 15 minutes, shit happens so fast that you will get motion sickness.
The plot follows the exact events of the visual novel
...
arc by the same name, with the exception of the hentai scenes (which have been removed) and some minor details.
It's refreshing to see that an adaptation, actually adapts the original thing into an animated movie. Instead of re-writing a great story into a incoherent piece of shit, that features the same characters as the original awesome story.
Art / Animation: 12
Don't rub your eyes, it says TWELVE. Trust me, the animation and artwork you will see in this movie, makes every other anime look like South Park.
I can say without exaggerating that, even when the characters are walking it looks FUCKING AWESOME.
There are a FUCKLOAD of fights, and thanks to the impressive animation and art, they all look epic. The movements are realistic, the effects of the weapons and the clashes are superb, and everything looks simply awesome.
This is one of those movies where you will find yourself shouting "HOLY SHIT!" on the first few fights, due to the epicness of what you are witnessing.
Sound: 8
The sound and OST are very good and the seiyus did a tremendous job. The HQ sounds and expressiveness of the seiyuus, complement the outwordly animation and art to make the ultimate fight scenes.
Character: 8
A few thoughts on the characters.
All the characters portrayed in the movie are from the original story, there are no "let's make up a character to make the movie look cooler" characters (thankfully).
The character development is nill (save for Shirou and Archer ). Which makes sense if you think that the movie is supposed to focus on the events that are characteristic of the UBW story.
So if you haven't watched the tv show, you will have a hard time trying to figure out who is everyone.
Enjoyment: 9
This is a hard aspect to evaluate, since enjoyment is purely subjective.
If UBW was your favorite arc in the VN or, if you watched the tv show and thought that Rin should have been the female lead, then you will probably enjoy this movie very much.
If you are a Diehard Sakura fan, you will be dissapointed since she barely even appears (that's not the case with Saber thou).
If you haven't watched the show or played the VN, you could still enjoy this movie, as long as you are looking for a movie with plenty of awe inspiring action scenes, and little char development. I mean, you won't understand half of it, but im sure you will be able to figure out who are the bad guys and who are the good guys. So i believe you can still enjoy it, depending on what you are looking for.
Overall: 9
A very faithful adaptation that looks incredible. Specially recomended for Rin / Archer fans. That can even be enjoyed by those who haven't watched the show (at least some of them).
I hope that you found what you were looking for in my review. Cheers!

The day after Yumekui Merry last episode was aired, the police received 3 simultaneous reports of "weird incidents". Those weird incidents seemed unrelated at first; different victims, different places, different circumstances… But deeper investigation proved they all had 1 thing in common. All the victims had watched all the episodes of “Yumekui Merry”. That’s why the incidents were ironically named "The Merry Incidents" by the internet user community.
These are the stories of the victims of this show, who are no longer among us to tell them.
Case 1: The Director
Story: 3
Fukuyama, Takumi was an independent film director who enjoyed watching films and anime full of meaning,
...
with well articulated plots and interesting stories.
While looking at the Winter 2011 anime releases, there was one show that captured his attention, Yumekui Merry. He had dreamed about being a director since he was a young teenager and he was actually living his dream, so he felt that he would enjoy a story related to dreams. (Don’t worry about spoilers you won’t find any)
Episode 1: Boy meets supernatural girl, the dream world and Merry are surrounded by a shroud of mystery, Merry cries. Takumi is intrigued.
Episodes 2 – 3: Some side characters are introduced, not much about them is told and they relation with the plot is unclear, bad action scenes, the dreamworld is still a mystery, Merry cries. Takumi feels a little confused and disappointed, yet he pushes through and keeps watching the show, hoping to get some answers.
Episodes 4 – 6: The amount of side characters keeps growing just like the amount of unanswered questions about everything regarding the main plot. Every fiber in Takumi’s body is screaming “Drop this show before it’s too late!”, but he can’t. He feels like it wouldn’t be fair to judge a show that’s halfway through. Takumi notices that he is eating less than he normally does.
Episodes 7 - 8: Baffled by the lack of sense and poorly animated fight scenes, Takumi stood still for 3 days, unconsciously staring at the turned off screen. His body is slowly giving up.
Episodes 9 – 12: Takumi is deranged. He has no regard for personal hygiene anymore, he started peeing in empty bottles and taking dumps in the trash bin. He is starting to run out of bottles and the trash bin is almost full. Only a good final episode can save him now.
Episode 13: After finishing this episode, what was left of Takumi broke. He picked up the trash bin and started writing “It doesn’t make any sense” with feces, in his dining room walls. “I ran out of paint” muttered Takumi as he blankly stared the shit covered walls. “Ah… I have an idea” said with a bitter smile, after thinking for a few seconds.
A week later he was reported missing by one of his coworkers, the police broke into his apartment and found the body of Takumi laying in a pool of his own blood.
It didn’t take much time for the police to find out what had happened. Half of the walls were painted with shit, the other half… With blood.
Case 2: The Prodigy.
Art / Animation: 5
Nanaya Kenichi, was the perfect student. His stern father always pushed him to get straight A, saying that he would not accept to have a son who thinks that it’s not important to be the best That’s why Kenichi had been getting nothing but A in every subject for all his life, even in “Art and Expression” which was the hardest one for him.
One day he received an assignment in that subject that got him worried. “Present an animation about anything you want”. Certainly creativity wasn’t one if his virtues, he had great memory but low inventive.
He resorted to the Winter 2011 anime releases list to get inspiration, and decided to try his luck with “Yumekui Merry” since it had two interesting designed characters in the promotional image.
“Hmm, so this is how you do it” thought Kenichi after finishing the whole thing. He immediately started his animation, brimming with enthusiasm and confidence.
The next day he presented his animation in class. Link vs Megaman: Link and Megaman fight over the last “six-pack” at the Wallmart.
Kenichi got an “F”. But it wasn’t the ridiculous plot the issue, it’s just that he drew Megaman and Link in great detail while they were standing still, and then drew them all disfigured and half-assed while moving / fighting. Just as he had learned from watching Yumekui Merry.
Needless to say, his father didn’t take the news too well. Kenichi was kicked out of his own house and had to live in an orphanage. There, he was constantly bullied and eventually raped by his fellow orphans and wardens.
One night that Kenichi was crying his hearth out with his head buried in his pillow, he heard the gentle voice of a girl. “Come” said the voice, “Kenichi, come”, insisted.
Kenichi rose his head and saw Merry standing by the door and calling out to him. Dumb footed he stood up and quietly followed Merry to the orphanage rooftop.
“I need to tell you a secret, a very important secret” said Merry, standing at the edge of the 5 stories orphanage rooftop.
“What is it?” replied Kenichi, half curious, half scared about the answer.
“I need you to get closer, or else I can’t tell you” said Merry with a gentle smile.
“No, it’s dangerous… This is too weird, I’m going back to bed”. Said Kenichi as he turned around and headed for the door.
“Don’t you miss your old life Kenichi?, if you listen to what I have to say, you will get your life back. Your family, your home, even your dog”
Kenichi froze, he couldn’t take another step away from her. Instead, he slowly started walking towards her, as if someone else was moving his body.
When he was about to reach Merry, he tripped and fell over the edge, a cracking noise resounded in the orphanage on that silent winter night, Kenichi broke his neck as soon as he hit the ground and died instantly.
A warden came investigating the source of the noise. He found Kenichi’s dead body, and in his hands a drawing of a curious looking girl, the draw was titled “Merry”.
Case 3: The Dreamer
Character / Character Development: 3
Watanabe Hiroshi, 32 years old, married for 8 years and father of two. He had dreamed of being a mangaka when he was younger, he even came up with a pen-name: “Watahiro”. But life isn’t a fairy tale, soon financial pressure made him give up on his dream and take whatever job he could get, in order to support his family.
After 8 years working in the dull and meaningless job of selling insurance policies, he found an advertise of an important manga publisher that would change his life forever. “Manga contest: Wining prize 800.000 YEN (roughly under 10.000 USD) and a contract for 5 years”.
“This must be destiny”, thought Hiroshi. He knew that if he wanted to win, he would need to make something new, something fresh. The contest deadline was close so he didn’t had enough time to resort to manga for inspiration. Anime seemed like the most reasonable choice.
He had not watched any anime since 2003 so he needed to watch a new show to get a feeling of current trends. “This one looks interesting” said Hiroshi while reading Yumekui Merry synopsis.
After watching the entire show he secretly started working on his manga, based on what he had learned from Yumekui Merry. Working during the day and hiding the manga production from his family was extremely tiring. Hideoshi realized that he wouldn’t finish on time unless he could find more time to work on his manga. So he took a decision.
Hideoshi left his job and keep it a secret from his family. Everyday he would bathe and change for work, then he would go to a park near his former workplace, where he would draw, and return home by the time he would return from his job.
“They won’t understand if I tell them now. It’s for the best, once I win the contest I can explain, and finally do what I love for living. Yes everything will be ok”, said Hideoshi with a smile, while drawing at the park.
After a month of hard work he barely finished his manga the day of the deadline. He proudly sent it to the publishing house, and returned home full of expectation.
Intense traffic caused him to return 2 hours later than usual, when the family is having dinner. But to his surprise the house was empty. Worriedly he scouted the rooms, looking for any clues of his family location. “Maybe something happened to one of the kids and they had to rush to the hospital”, thought Hiroshi.
Eventually he went to the kitchen, where he found a letter that had been written by his wife that same day. The letter contents were as follows: “Today I used the credit card and it was rejected. I called to your job to talk to you about it and they told me you have quitted last month and they haven’t seen you since then.
You have been lying to me and your children for the past month, without even blinking. I don’t even care about what you have been doing until today, it’s inexcusable and unforgivable. I’ve taken the kids with me, I have already told the kids that you are dead, don’t try look for us or I swear I’ll kill you.
I’ll send you the divorce papers once I’ve settled down.”
Hiroshi cried for several days, but the possibility of wining the manga contest finally soothed him. “That’s right, after I win the contest I’ll get my family back. I’m sure I can explain it somehow. She must probably think I was having an affair or something, that’s why she got so mad.”
The days went by and the expected letter from the contest didn’t arrive, after countless days of waiting Hiroshi picked up the phone to call the publishing house but he had no line. “What?, I’ve paid last month, this is outrageous. He tried to turn on the computer but it didn’t respond. “Maybe there is no power… No it can’t be that, the lights in the kitchen and living room are on. It must be broken.”. Hiroshi checked his watch “eight o’clock, I guess I’ll be going to sleep early today.”.
The next day he woke up and checked the mail. “Still nothing” said disappointed, “well, the day is just starting, they can still deliver it in the afternoon. What time is it anyway?”. When he looked at his watch, a chill went down Hiroshi’s spine. “8:00 PM?... no this can’t be right I can’t have slept for 24 hours. My watch have stopped, that must be it.” after confirming that his watch had stopped, Hiroshi stepped outside the house to ask someone the time.
“How weird it’s already nighttime, I wonder what time it really is”, thought while walking. After a long walk he couldn’t find anybody, everywhere was deserted. After a while of aimlessly walking around the neighborhood, he returned home disturbed about the lack of people.
In front of his house, there stood a girl with a white dress; she had an air of purity.
“Finally someone!, do you know where is everybody?”, asked Hiroshi worriedly.
“Everybody is here, you just can’t see them”, answered the girl in a calm voice.
“What do you mean?... But why can’t I see them?”, as he asked, deep inside he felt like he already knew the answer to his question.
“Because you are dead” said the girl.
“You are lying that’s just stupid, I can’t be dead im standing right here”, he acted like he brushed away her answer, but somehow he felt very uneasy
“When was the last time you ate breakfast?. When was the last time you taked with anybody?. When was the last time you used the phone?”. The girl kept asking questions that would have been easy to answer by anyone, but for some reason Hiroshi couldn’t find the answer to any of those questions.
“I.. I… no this can’t be” said while covering his ears with his hands as if to “unhear” what he had just heard.
“Enter your house, you will find the truth inside” said the girl.
Hiroshi stepped into his house. The house looked nothing like how it was when he left a few hours ago. It looked like it had been abandoned for a while, the mailbox was full and a strong smell could be perceived. As he entered the living room he couldn’t believe his eyes.
He saw his dead body, in a sitting position with his back against the wall. Over the table there were two letters, one was the letter his wife had left, and the other was from the publisher. The letter from the publisher said: Mister Watanabe, we regret to tell you that your manga didn’t win the contest. The reason is that you introduced too many characters to the story, without giving the audience proper background to understand their behavior and make their motivations clear. Ultimately you could have resorted to pander the audience fetishes, but you didn’t even do that. You just had a bunch of random characters, doing unrelated events for entertainment sake. And it actually wasn’t entertaining at all. Just like that “Yumekui Merry” crappy show. Better luck next time.”
After he finished reading the letter, the girl stepped into the room.
“How did I die?”
“You thought the letter was a prank, and that the real one would eventually come. So you sit there waiting for a month until you starved to death. Your desire to receive that letter was so strong that your spirit neglected your death. And since then you have wandered this house oblivious of what happened.
But yesterday when you found certain inconsistencies yesterday the phone and the computer you started to get aware of your situation, and deep in your heart accepted it. That’s why I came, because I heard your calling.”
“For how long…?” he couldn’t even finish the sentence.
“One year”
“I see…. And now what?”
“Now we go, I’ll take you to where you belong now”
Resigned, Hiroshi took the girl’s hand and they disappeared into a white light.
So heed my advise. If you don’t want to experience a “Merry Incident” stay the fuck away from this show. I specially recommend people who have read the manga to stay the fucking fuck away from this, couse the original story gets butchered and anal-fisted in the anime. Courtesy of your usual J.C Staff “Story Re-Write”.
Seriously, this anime is pointless. Watch something else, It’s for your own good.

Tomoki Kyoda (the director of this movie), was on vacations in afrika in an expedition of some ancient temple ruins.
Inside the temple, he found an urn with some weird carvings. When he rubbed the urn to clear the dust from it, he was enveloped by a blinding white light and found himself floating naked in the middle of nowhere.
Suddenly he head the sound of a deep voice, that felt like it was talking directly to his brain: "Human, you have found my urn and for that i shall grant you one wish. Ask anything you want", said the voice.
Tomoki thought for a few seconds, and
...
then the answer became clear. "I want to make the most fucking epic animated movie of all times!", he shouted to the nothingness with great determination.
"So be it", said the voice. And after a deafening sound he woke up in his hotel room covered in sweat. Doubting if what he had seen was just a dream, he started his new proyect "Eureka Seven: Pocket Full of Rainbows".
When he released the movie in 2009, Tomoki rejoiced, not only by the spectacular success of his movie, but also because he knew that his wish had been granted...
Certainly for some people, implying that this movie was in part created by a divine superior being may sound a little too crazy. But after seeing countless shows, OVAs, and movies that reek of mediocrity and weak plots. This movie feels like it's been made by something or someone out of this world.
But enough of my insane rambling, let's start with this review.
Story / Plot development - 10
Impressive story, incredibly well executed. This story has everything, char development, (lots of) action, drama and love, but above everything it has a perfect balance between those four. For example:
A fight breaks out, after the fight the plot advances, after going a little forward you see a flashback explaining some of the current loose ends, then another fight, an investigation sub-plot appears, the plot advances, another fight, a plot twist, the characters relatioships shift, a flashback, and so on.
The focus of the movie is always changing, and that dynamism make it seem always fresh, makes it seem like everything happens for a reason, that there are no random bullshit events here.
You will see that the story advances to a certain destination, but instead of plainly going in a straight line, it travels along different and intresting paths. This must be thanks to the vast amount of supporting characters this movie has, and that almost each and everyone of those supp chars get the chance to tell their story. And you will get to see how all those stories end too.
Also the story has nothing to do with the story of the TV show, but the movie is self conclusive. The new plot is presented and concluded in the duration of the movie. So there is no need to have previously watched the tv show in order to understand the movie.
Art / Animation - 10
The characters look beautiful, the robots look impressive, the aliens look scary and the backgrounds are simply breathtaking. I can't think of a single bad thing to say about the art in this movie.
The animation gets a 10 too. The fights are spectacular and the robots movements look really natural, but the most epic display of animation in this movie is seen in the explosions.
I don't really know much about animation or coloring techniques, so i can't get "technical" in this section. But even without knowing anything, i can assure you that the art and animation are very enjoyable.
Sound - 10
The sound in Eureka Seven: Pocket Full of Rainbows is in another level from the rest of the movies i've seen. I strongly recommend watching this movie with a 5.1 surround system or a powerful headset, at maximum volume.
Character / Character development - 10
First of all, the reason why this section gets a 10 is because this movie contains no archetypes. Archetypes are the generic overused characters you find in 9 out of 10 shows in each genre. For example, the tsundere childhood friend, the naughty lolita, the quiet girl with glasses, etc.
Each character in this movie is unique and that's something really rare to find in current shows / movies. It takes a lot of courage to break away from the popular character formula that is known to work like a charm.
Now for the character development. Character development is an important aspect of the plot in this movie. The story won't expect you to accept something like "Oh ok, this guy wants to protect this girl just couse he keeps saying it". No, you will see enough of everyone's past (and present as the plot develops) to understand why they act like they do, and why they make the choices that they
make.
Enjoyment - 10
Complex but thouroughly explained plot, unique characters, outwordly art, animation, and sound. There is no way someone won't enjoy this movie. In my humble opinion that is.
Overall - 10
This movie is a must watch, it gets a solid 10 (TEN). I recommend it for everyone. Even for those who doesn't like too much plot and would rather watch some "moeblob" full of fanservice. Just give it a try, you might get a nice surprise.

I can imagine that just by reading the overall scor you already hate me. But i can't give it any more than this, when i overlay the "4" it says "Decent", and this second season (not the firs, and certainly not the novel) is WAY below decent. So i'm sorry but it's what it is. A poor second season.
I'm not arguiing that the animation and sound is as epic as ever. My main complain is "what the hell happened with the plot!?". Maybe the plot died at the explosion in the end of the first season. Maybe the people in charge of adapting the novel
...
said "Adapt the novell as it is?, pff that's for NOOBS, we are pro, we got mad skillz yo. We gonna get high and come up with a plot of our own, using the same characters as the first season".
You could give this piece of crap a higher score out of love / respect for the first season. Or maybe out of love for some of the characters. Yes you could, but please don't. If you give this abomination an 8, how could you give the first season a 10?, you would have to give it a 20 or else the scores won't make sense anymore.
Character "Development"
More like character involution. During season one, the characters meet, they live a lot of things together, wich makes their relationship / feelings (not just romantic) evolve, change, as it happens in real life as you get to know someone better you like / dislike him / her more.
There is no way you could say the relationship between Shana - Yuji - Yoshida is the same at the beg of the first season, than at the end.
Great!, so why trun back the clock in season 2?. Why GOD WHY!?. Why start again with the whole "should i teel him?, shouldn't i tell him?, what does he think of me?, what does he thinks of her?. Im going to ramble like this for 24 episodes, maybe i'll figure out the answer in season 3 or something... Yes sounds like a plan".
We were over this towards the end of season one, you had a frigging life /death experience, you can't get any closer than that.... But NO, let's just go back like we just met. AWESOME!.
The last thing im going to say about character development in this show is abou the end, but don't worry it's not a spoiler. The only thing im going to say is that you will get three things:
* The feeling that NOTHING CHANGED IN 24 EPISODES.
* The urge to rewatch the first season, to remind yourself why you tortured your brains until the very end of season 2.
* The wish that you could just "unsee" everything you just saw.
Characters
Oh yes, this is a whole new section. With the exception of Shana, and A BIT Yuji, all the characters become as intresting as a grapefruit.
Yoshida, who already was as intresting as watching the grass grow, becomes even more ANNOYING. Whenever she went on with her monologues about yearning Yuji's attention i felt like skipping the whole thing. She had so much appearence time, and what did she do? NOTHING, and you can't deny it.
"Ane-San" who had the job of providing comic relief in season one, and was a really intresting character. Suddenly gets all dark and boring.
The guy with glasses: ZOMG why didn't he die on the second episode of season one?, seriously.
Ane-San's lackeys: Who gives a flying fuck about them?.
Plot
You know a plot is poorly developed when you can't clearly define what the hell is a show about.
Take for instance season 1
"It's about a tsundere loli that hunts spirits and artifacts, finds a guy with a super powerful artifact inside who decides to help her fight the bad guys". Ok so it's a show about action, hunting things and killing demons spirits whatever. Ok i can get into that.
Now let's take a look at season 2 plot:
It's about a love triangle between a tsundere DFC and a big breasted wife-kind of girl. No it's about a silver armor that's gonna destroy the world. No wait, it's about a sandwoman who lost her husband. No wait it's about the curious things that happen in the everyday life. Wait i think that they fight some kind of "things" from time to time, so is it about fighting?".
Hey guys you had an objective rememeber?, i mean there was a whole first season about "FIGHTING THE TOMOGARAS", so why did you just decided to say "fuck that, let's all behave like this is a shitty harem / love triangle slice of life".
The episodes go by and they talk, and talk, and talk... And the worst thing is that they aren't really saying anything!!!.
Overall
If you liked season 1, don't watch this. This is a scam. The only thing in common with the first season is the characters.

THIS REVIEW IS AIMED TO THOSE WHO HAVEN'T WATCHED THE SHOW YET.
That being said, i've had a practical idea. Instead of furiously rant into an extensive explanation of why i think this show is below average. I'll objetively state it's qualities in a sort of list and i'll let you decide whether it's something you like or not.
Here we go:
* The colors are very dark. It's almost always nighttime, the lightning is always dim, etc. You get the picture.
* It contains a decent amount of blood and sadism.
...
* Both the lead and the anthagonist act totally badass.
* There isn't a clear plotline. A lot of stuff will happen, but the connection between every event is unclear.
* Char development is decent. You will learn about some of the lead and support chars past, their motivations, and their relationships.
* It contains some humour. Mostly you will laugh at Alucard's confidence and sarcasm.
* There is no balance between talk / fights. Some eps the characters will almost only fight, and some episodes they will mostly talk. 18/22 minutes either way i would say.
* The weaponry used in the fights is quite varied.
I think that's it. Those are the mayor characteristic in this show.
I hope that i helped you get an idea of what to expect before watching hellsing and also helped you take the right decicion.

Compared to other "slice of life" anime i've seen, I really can't give it more than a 6.
Now don't get me wrong, a six diesn't mean you can't enjoy the show, it just means it's not amazingly good in every aspect. So, let's start with the good stuff this show has to offer.
The Good
Art / Animation
Kannagi is extremely dynamic, everything moves. The hair, the leaves, the clothes, everything. All that movement give Kannagi a great sinergy and realism. Thanks to that, everything looks pretty natural.
The colouring in this show is superb. When the mood is happy, everything looks bright and alive, colors seem to jump
...
out of the screen. When the mood is sad, everything looks grey, heavy, dark, as if someone had tried to wash away all the colors in the world. It helps to converge the feelings of the characters to the viewer.
The Humor
You will laugh, probably a lot. If something defines Kannagi is the word "Laugh".
Sure it has the usual funny misunderstandings that all romantic comedies have: shower scenes, bra size, etc, you know what i mean.
But it will also manage to turn the most mundane things (like eating dinner, or brushing your teeth) into something really funny. And that's something commendable, not every show can pull that out.
The Bad
Now, having read all the other reviews i can guess that my review is going to get a lot of "THIS ISN'T HELPFUL (YOU BASTARD!)". But it's ok, i embrace my destiny.
I honestly believe that this show is good, just that the synopsis is extremely misleading, and some people might watch the show expecting something that will not be delivered. So i want to warn them about it, so they know what Kannagi is, and what it isn't.
The Plot Development
This has to be it's weakest point. It starts awesome, with a great deal of potential. Healthy male teenager lives alone, crafts wooden statue, statue becomes a beautiful female teenager goddess, he has to help her DO SOMETHING, and until THAT is finished they have to live together.
The problem is that starting from episode 3 and until episode 10, the original plot (discovering what is Nagi?, what is it that she has to do?, what exactly are those bugs that she kills?) is forgotten.
Instead, what you will see is a series of funny episodes, with little to no character development, that have nothing to do with episode 1 premises.
And in the final episodes they try to wrap it up, with some rushed and incomplete explanations, that give you the feeling that you have been somehow scammed.
So to summarize, it starts great but quickly drifts away almost until the end, then unsuccesfully tries to come back and make up for the wasted time with a rather forced, inconclusive ending.
Character / Character Development
I know, successful character development is hard to do in a short show. But that's no excuse to do it poorly. Let's start talking about the characters.
Zange and Nagi are the only characters that you can't fit in any generic stereotype you have seen one hundred times before. Even if the show won't tell you much about their past, their motivations or basically anything about them, they are very complete, have many aspects, and their actions will surprise you from time to time.
That being said, the rest of the cast is just a bunch of generic arctypes that you can predict their every dialogue / action. Specially the overused childhood friend.
Now for the char development:
There isn't any. There, i don't think i can extend very much about this. Believe me, by the time Kannagi ends, you will know little to nothing about any of the characters (male and female lead included). And it's not that you missed anything, even inside the show this lack of background information is addressed.
If you disagree with this, I would recommend you to watch "Kore wa Zombie desu Ka?", "Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight" and "Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutso", and compare their char development with this one. Then you will see that it would be unfair to say there is good char development in Kannagi.
In clonclusion, I would recommend you this show if you are looking for:
* An enjoyable slice of life with supernatural elements.
* Something to have a good laugh, and don't care much about story.
* Romantic highschool comedy, with female tsundere lead.
I hope that you found my review helpful. Thanks for reading.

I didn't like this show and I wouldn't want anyone to waste his/her precious time watching this. So that's why im going to review it, hopefully I'll save someone before it's too late. I'll try to be brief too.
"Dragon Crisis!"
Judjing from the title, you would think "This is going to be an exciting show, full of epic battles, firebreath, swords and flying beasts".... Think again.
If i could summarize this show in one word, it's would probably be "Dissapointing", and I'm going to tell you why, but let's start with the few good things this show has.
The Good
Art/Animation
The char designs are very well done, the backgrounds
...
are detailed, everything looks great, the eyes are beautiful, the effects look awesome and the movement is very fluid and natural. That's it, sadly.
The Worst
The Plot
It starts quite good: Young boy (Ryouji) with unparalelled potential to use ancient relics, teams up with his sexy treasure hunting cousin, and loli millenary Dragon Queen in a journey full of mystic artifacts and epic fights (most likely involving dragons). Yeah, that would have been great, too bad that doesn't last more than one or two episodes.
Soon, what started as an "Action anime with romantic comic relief" turns into "Generic Harem (poorly done), with some short fights once in a while".
After all the "Heroines" (girls who have a romantic interest in the male lead) are intrudced, the original plot is put on hold, and replaced by filler episodes ment to create oportunities for the Heroines to show and/or develop feelings for Ryouji.
I mean, seriously, over 5 fillers in a 12 episode show?. No thanks.
The Characters
I'm not going to go into details, but at least let me tell you this: They are as generic as they can get. Dull and predictable are their most outstanding features. You could guess everything about them, just by looking at the official poster. It's a shame that you will never be shocked by the character's actions or speech.
So, In My Humble Oppinion:
*If you are looking for an action/adventure show, Dragon Crisis doesn't have enough fights.
* If you are looking for a comedy harem show, Dragon Crisis isn't funny enough.
* If you are looking for a drama harem show, Dragon Crisis isn't serious or intresting enough.
* If you are looking for a show with undefined plot and "mass produced" characters, Dragon Crisis might just be what you are looking for.
I wish that you found the information you were looking for in this review.
