This manga was enjoyable to read and I recommend it to every romcom enjoyer. I'll explain down below the pros and cons, this review is spoiler free.
Before going further into details, it's important to note that this manga is a harem, and it does share the usual good and bad tropes associated with this tag. Along with this harem tag, there is a fair amount of fan service ( especially during the first chapters ) but it remains "light", this is not an ecchi manga.
The good :
One of the best thing this manga has to offer is its art : the characters are
...
drawn in a beautiful way and the panels are simply nice to look at, many details, unique enough character design etc... Now it remains a highschool romcom, and there isn't any "landdscapes panels" or insane double pages, but if you check some images online, you'll understand how good the drawings are.
Regarding the story, well to be honest, there's nothing groundbreaking : a dense male MC will captivate the attention of some girls, the plot twist being that his denseness is partially explained by the fact that he's a aspiring to become a monk. Even if it's not trying to reinvent the wheel, the story gets the job done, it's fun to see the evolution of the characters' relationships, and there is enough development for each main character to keep it interesting. Every character is lovable, and the author manages to give more or less the same quantity of scenes to every female MC.
The not so good :
As mentionned above, there might be a slight overuse of fanservice in the beginning, but we can forgive the author since he is quickly trying to develop his story and make it more consistent than that kind of bait. Some readers might stop reading early because they'd be disappointed by the content of the first chapters and that'd be a shame but understandable at the same time.
The story's plausibility could be better. It's usual for harem stories to be far fetched, therefore, it's not a huge shortcoming, but I'm thinking mainly of the male MC Kuroiwa Medaka. While there's enough development for every female MC to explain their reasoning, their anxiety for some situations etc... it's not really the case for Medaka, the end result being that the monk excuse gets old sometimes. There are some chapters where he'll shine and feel like a real person/character, but there are also some chapters that feel a bit too unreal regarding his reactions, and it hurts a bit the overall story's credibility at times.
All in all, I enjoyed a lot reading this manga, and it's a solid take on the romcom/harem genre in highschool setting. While the story has some flaws, such as early chapters filled with fan service or some reactions from the male MC that feel either too repetitive or illogical, it still delivers cute and wholesome moments we all love to see in that kind of story. Furthermore, the art is amazing and is a good enough reason to try reading this manga.
If you usually like the harem/romcom genre, chances are you'll enjoy this story as well.
If you are new to the genre, well, there might be more polished stories out there, but it's still a decent manga to get into those tags.

Reading the first 10 chapters of this manga was a poor experience and I'll try to explain down below why I don't recommend it.
This manga is supposed to be a romcom, but the problem is that it skips the whole building of the relationship between the two MCs, as it starts right off with the female MC who is totally in love with the male mc. While that kind of settings can work as it's the case in other mangas, here it's not the case since it's too exaggerated.
This manga falls into the self insert cliché, where the male MC is bland whereas
...
the female MC checks every stereotype : she is devoted to the mc, she's lewd, she's the "most beautiful girl in Japan" ( ... ) The female MC doesn't feel like a real character, she's more of an author's fantasy.
The result is an unbelievable cringe story. Even if it uses some common romcom tropes, it just doesn't work here because the author skipped every steps. For instance, in a random romcom, the mcs will feel embarassed if they somehow need to spend the night together, and it's cute/funny because they aren't used to this situation in theirr everyday life etc... But in this manga, yeah the male mc is embarassed because he doesn't want to sleep with a stranger for their first night together, and that's.... completely normal, you know ?
Anyway, that's just an example, but it highlights why the jokes aren't working that well in this manga.
All in all, this story isn't worth your time. It's a weird take on the romcom genre filled with the usual clichés of the perfect lewd gf. It's neither original nor interesting, but I'll reckon that the drawings are nice. I assume some readers can still enjoy this story, if you like absurd settings and easy-going stories where the scenario has zero importance, this manga can do the job. Otherwise, just skip this, there is a ton of better romcom mangas for you to read.

I finished watching Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha today and I believe it's good enough to be recommended. This show is far from being flawless though, but if we consider it through op mc fantasy standards, it's decent.
I'll try to explain down below the pros and cons of this anime.
Pros :
+ The animation itself was enjoyable to watch. nothing too fancy, but the fights felt dynamic, the magic effects were detailed, the animation's quality was above what you can fin in the average seasonal anime.
+ Anos is a chad MC, it's fun to watch his adventures and see how he'll manage situations.
...
The rest of the cast is also lovable, but probably too cliché though.
+ The overall vibe from the anime makes it chill to watch, there isn't any cringe scene or fan service moment, it's just action and sometimes cute moments. There are also some comedy moments.
Cons :
- The rhythm was too fast. It's not that the story is too hard to understand or anything, but there's quite a lot happening in those 13 episodes and as a result, it does undermine some events since the story advances a lot in the next episode etc...
- It's common for that kind of settings, but the problem with an overpowered MC is that there isn't any real stakes, we see in the first episode that he can kill & revive people at will without any limit... It's also hurting the story's credibility, Anos displays his godly powers and ancient knowledge in front of large audiences, and yet, people still treat him like a "misfit", which is really hard to believe and it's even weirder that it has importance in the initial plot of this anime. ( It's litteraly in the anime's title lol )
- Some might call this nitpicking, but something bugged me with this anime : Anos and his friends are all demons, right ? But why then do they have the EXACT SAME APPEARANCE as humans ? Anos has red eyes and every other char is human looking lol
All in all, MGF is a decent anime, nothing more, nothing less. It's entertaining enough, there's some good action with nice visuals and characters you'll root for, but on the other hand, the story is really generic and has many "logical" flaws. I think there are better fantasy shows out there, but MGF still has some appeal, and will scratch that itch if you are looking for an OP MC story.

After watching the first 8 episodes of Temple, I couldn't be bothered to make it through the end and I don't recommend this anime.
I'll try to explain the few reasons that made me drop this show down below.
This anime has both the harem & ecchi tag, therefore, every viewer should tune his expectations according to those tags, since it's probably the fairest way to compare animes. But even by doing so, Tenpuru feels like a below average anime.
+ The scenario/story/mood :
Probably the least worst aspect of this show : the plot is pretty basic but it does the job. Furthermore, this show
...
decides to enhance the comedy tag and focuses a lot on absurd reactions, exaggerations. I think the jokes get old quite quickly, but they do feel coherent with the general atmosphere of the show, many viewers will like it and that feat is praiseworthy.
And that's about the only good thing this show has to offer...
- The art/animation :
It's common for that type of anime to have low budgets, and viewers don't expect real sakuga moments from those animes. But the animation felt too cheap, you'll spot many scenes where the drawings are just bad, inconsistent faces, proportions that become weird for a few seconds etc... And keep in mind that I highlight it even though I usually never notice/care enough about technical aspects in animation, but it's so frequent you can't miss those poor drawings.
- The characters :
The characters are walking clichés, every one of them. It might be harsh to write it as a con since many harem shows have this problem, but it hurts even more when the show doesn't have much else to offer, as it's the case here.
- The ecchi :
The ecchi scenes are uninspired and predictable. I guess we can praise the show for not going with cringe scenes, since the ecchi scenes also fit the comic atmosphere, but that's about it.
All things considered, Temple is a very average show : it has a basic plot that involves cliché characters, and there's a heavy importance on comedy, where pretty much every scene/event has a comic purpose. However, the animation is rather cheap, up to the point where the viewer will put to the question the point of this adaptation. I think the story is decent enough in harem/ecchi standards, but chances are you'll enjoy it more by reading the manga rather than watching the anime.

Frieren has been one of the most popular shows of those last few months, and is the hype deserved ? To answer shortly, yes... and no.
I recommend watching it since it has many qualities and stands high above the average seasonal anime, but I'll clarify some things though, because this isn't as revolutionnary as some people try to make it.
Sousou no Frieren's pros :
+ It's a simple but effective take on world building with fantasy settings. The idea to follow characters after someone saved the world is interesting, because it allows the story to discuss about different topics we don't see that
...
often such as the time that passses by, the ephemeral aspect of human lives, human relationships etc... While not being groundbreaking, it is still refreshing and that's what gives Frieren this nice chilling mood.
+ The soundtrack is on point, the musics are beautiful and enhance many scenes.
+ The animation is well done too, the fighting scenes feel epic, the particle effects are quite detailed, the colorimetry has a nice pastel vibe.
+ The cast of characters is lovable, you'll quickly like them all.
Sousou no Frieren's cons :
- Although I mentionned the scenario as a pro, it's not flawless and clearly has its shortcomings. It's hard to go further into details without spoiling, but don't expect any original narration, or unexpected turns of events : Frieren is ( too much ? ) linear in that regard and it's a bit disappointing. I felt like I had to emphasize this because many people praise this show for its "originality" but the events are pretty conventionnal.
- This might be nitpicking, but this show also has the same kind of deus ex machinas to explain the outcomes of some fights. This doesn't make Frieren a bad show by any means, but it's another detail that highlights the fact that it's not as original as you can read online.
To conclude, Frieren is a solid show, it has many qualities such as great soundtrack, beautiful animation, a scenario that deviates a bit off the beaten tracks and lovely characters. The slow rhythm is an assumed choice and it doesn't hurt the viewer's enjoyment too much... However, it's important to qualify this aspect : this show isn't that innovative. Many people praise the slow rhythm, the chill vibes etc... and they are right to do so to some extent, but I fear they also overlook the anime's flaws that are real, since it does fall into some common clichés, and the events depicted are quite predictable. Anyway, this show still has a lot to offer, and it's an easy recommendation, but don't expect a pioneering show.

Mushoku Tensei is one of those controversial animes, some people hate it, some people love it, and it seems like this latter category is the majority since this anime is ranked quite high on myanimelist.
Is this a good anime ? Yes definitely, I enjoyed watching this and started watching the other seasons right after. But before we go any further, you should be aware of something IMPORTANT : the controversy is justified and while there aren't any shocking scenes per se, some choices made regarding the main character and his traits are questionnable to say the least. The MC is depicted as a true
...
pervert, and in this isekai setting, this will involve moments where the former 36 yo man will fantasize about minor girls he's interacting with in his new life as a young boy. I think that the show took this aspect too far and it hurts the anime, but I'll talk more about this later.
What are the good things about Mushoku ?
- The story delivers. Simply put, many isekais feel generic and uninspired, because it's always the same settings, with more or less the same goals given to the main character, who will quickly form a party and take on a quest to defeat an evil figure in the new world. You can put away all those clichés here because Mushoku Tensei doesn't take the reincarnation feat lightly : we'll follow the new life of the character litteraly from his birth. We quicly understand that this show's narration won't be linear and many things will happen throughout the episodes, many characters will interact with the MC, it's simply refreshing to watch an original story with coherent world building.
- The animation is beautiful. The scenery changes a lot, it's colorful, the character design does the job, the fights are dynamic. Once again, although this is an isekai, it's clearly not playing in the same league as the generic isekais we see each season.
- The ost is amazing as well, and we can praise the anime for its choice regarding the opening, or lack of I should say. What "serves" as an opening is usually a song playing with beautiful landscapes or even scenes that show us small discussions in the daily life of the charcters.
What are the bad things about Mushoku ?
There's really only one BIG problem with the show, and to this day, I can't seem to find a sane explanation for this.
As mentioned above, the man who reincarnated as the main character was a 36 year old creep, a recluse hikkikomori that suffered in his teen years and became "human trash" because of that. In his new life as Rudeus, he's still conscious of his old life, and he kept those virgin's sexual urges and weird fetishes. But what's the point of those, what does it bring for the story ? Well nothing much, that's the problem. Except to appeal to some weird viewers, all those scenes are pointless, even worse, they hurt the show's credibility later on. ( If the anime insists on showing us that Rudeus is a lolicon, how are we supposed to believe that he genuinely wants to help other, protect children etc... in other episodes ? )
To be fair, the idea of giving a second chance at life to a trash human being, and that he's still fighting his inner demons while living his second life is an interesting idea, that justifies the isekai genre and should be used more often. But why did it have to be "this" extreme ? There could have been other ways to make us hate the MC in his previous life if that's really what this is about, and likewise, there could have been other ways to justify his behavior than going for the extreme sexual bullying in his highschool years... It's even more frustrating when you consider the rest of the anime that is almost flawless in every other aspect.
To qualify a bit, the first part of the first season is the worst regarding those cringe scenes, they are less frequent or less questionnable in the other seasons.
All in all, this show is still worth to watch, because it's clearly standing above many other isekais, the story is original and interesting to follow, and the animation as well as the music are also pretty good. However, there is a huge drawback, this anime has a few questionnable scenes where the MC will fantasize about little girls, and no matter how you put it, it's just wrong, don't believe other people that try to give it a meaning, there's no sane justification for this bs and it's hurting the show's coherence that was perfect otherwise. Without those perverted scenes, I would have probably given a 10 to this show, but the anime insists too much with this. The silver lining being that if you can get over those cringe moments, they are less frequent in the next seasons, and the anime changes its tune to give Rudeus a pervert trait that leans more toward the usual comedic relief jokes rather than the full on degenerate mood they decided to pick for this first season.

It might be too early to review this manga since there's only 11 chapters released at the moment, but there isn't any redflag so far and the story seems to follow an interesting path, therefore, I'm pretty confident this manga will remain good in the long run, and that's why I recommend it.
The plot is both simple and funny/cute, a 17 years old human girl that can transform into a cat meets a 30ish man and decides to live in his flat, making him her "owner". Let me reassure you, this isn't a degenerate manga, there is fanservice here and there, but the story
...
isn't trying to promote weird relationships, it's going for tthe fatherly vibe, or something like a guardian vibe. It reminds me a lot of HigeHiro that has a similar relationship between the two MCs.
In parallel with this funny cat transformation thing, tthe author is also planning to create a lore regarding that, and it sounds promising, it helps the reader care more about the story, now we can't know for sure at the moment that this will lead to something coherent, but at least the author is trying to thicken the plot.
Lastly, the art is really good. Whether you'll click with the style or not is subjective, but the panels are nice and detailed. The character design could be more original but it's good enough.
All in all, really pleaant read so far, Mii-chan wa Kawaretai starts off as a cute story about cats, it's a really good beginning in romcom standards, and we can be hopeful for the rest of the series, since it seems like the author will build a plausible universe to explain all this lore about cats, and if it's done well, this might become a solid romcom in the next years.
( I rate it 8/10 because there isn't a lot of chapters, but I'd probably have rated this 9/10 if it had 40 chapters with the same level of quality for instance )

Great Pretender has many things to offer, and could have been a great anime, but it fails to deliver towards the end, hence the mixed feelings review.
I'll try to explain down below every reason that might make you enjoy this anime while also disclosing the few parts that should make you lower your expectations.
Things done right :
- The art :
Although art is rather subjective, anyone will reckon that the art shown in this anime has a unique vibe, it's colorful, it's good looking, you have many different kind of places depicted ( urban places mostly, but from all around the world
...
which adds even more diversity ).The same goes for character design, while some characters aren't that inspired, they all have their own style.
- The characters :
The cast of main characters is done well, and the anime's structure helps making the viewer interested in each and everyone of them.
- The story :
THE FIRST cases are well written, it's pretty thrilling to follow what's happening, there's clearly an inspiration from other famous con man movies like ocean's eleven etc... and it works pretty well with this anime format...
Things done wrong :
- The story :
Although the story at first was interesting to follow, the way they decided to wrap up the story is just... meh. It's hard to describe it without spoiling, but to put it simply, the first cases are plausible, the way the crew manages to scam some bad guys makes sense.
( Some corners are cut of course but it's tolerable for the viewer ) However, they decided to go with a "grandiose" arc to end the season, and it's way too convoluted, even more in comparison with the rest of the season. It's just purely unbelievable, and it does hurt the viewer's interest, because chances are he'll be disappointed by the events and might regret having watched this.
- The message :
It's very tightly linked with the last point, but because of how messed up the end is, it's also sending some weird message. Once again, it's pretty frustrating because this part was also done right the first cases, but it's completely missed in the last one. Not only does it send a really mixed message regarding the bad guys' criminal activities, but it's also screwing up the relationships between some characters, it's really hard to understand what happened during the writing process for this anime.
All in all, mixed feelings does sum it up pretty well. Great Pretender is a great anime from episode 1 to 14 and deserves a 9/10 for this part, but the episodes 15 to 23 make the story fall completely flat and probably deserves a 6 or 5/10. I'd still say that it was an interesting watch, but if I'm being objective, this is an anime where the story has a bigger importance than in other genres such as romcoms or shonen where we can be more generous if the writing quality decreases a bit in some arcs. Therefore, I can't rate it higher than 7 considering how hard they messed up the second half of the season, and if you want to give this show a try, you might be better off not watching it beyond episode 14.

After watching the first seven episodes of Kakegurui, I decided to drop it and I don't feel like I can recommend this show.
We watch anime for entertaining purposes, it can either be about a beautiful story, epic battles, funny adventures, cosy slice of life moments etc... In the case of Kakegurui, it's hard to understand what the story is trying to accomplish, or I rather should say, it's hard to find another goal beside showing fanservice scenes, different kind of weird kinks etc...
There are many different things that make it hard for the viewer to believe those world's settings. There isn't any kind
...
of logic regarding the rules that dictate the characters' life, a gambling school where enslavment is authorized, and bullying is encouraged up to the point where rape is tolerated ? And we are supposed to believe that the kids at this school all come from rich and influential families, alright, remind me again why would any parent allow their kid to get into this school/torture camp ? The fact that this plot revolves so much around money is pretty weird as well, because on the one hand, we are supposed to believe that money is of the utmost importance for students, but on the other hand, the anime doesn't adress how the students get their hands on those ( insanely huge ) sums of yens. We get it, rich kids are gambling a lot of money but since it looks like they can bet millions of yens without giving it some thought, how are we supposed to be impressed by those huge numbers ?
I mean, it's an anime, logic can be bent, it's a work of fiction after all, but here comes the disappointing part : with all those crazy rules, one might expect an unique story with high stakes moments etc... but after watching the first episode, well you've pretty much seen the whole season.
Every episode follows the same rhythm : the overpowered MC Yumeko gambles against the most cliché antagonist one might think of, the mc will feign that she is struggling at first only to "make" a comeback while disclosing the trick her opponent tried to use against her. You can add some fan service scenes here and there, and that pretty much sums up every episode, at least up to the seventh one.
Therefore, the events are predictable, which makes it even harder for the viewer to care about this unbelievable story.
All in all, this anime doesn't have a lot to offer, aside from fanservice scenes that usually depict teenage girls getting aroused by gambling stakes or some unusual kinks. To qualify this review, I have to reckon that regarding the technical aspects, this anime does have a good animation and a nice cast of talented seiyus, but that's about it. The plot is absolute nonsense and the antagonists are forgettable. If you enjoy shows that contain a lot of fan service, you might enjoy this, otherwise, you'll probably be disappointed and/or cringed by this show.

Mikadono Sanshimai wa Angai, Choroi is a really good harem romcom, I recommend giving it a try !
While the story does use some common tropes here and there, we can praise it for not using the cringe or bad ones. The story is wholesome, there isn't any better word to describe it. There's also a lot of comedy, funny scenes and dialogues and once again, it's always pretty cute, thankfully this manga doesn't fall into the obvious trap of harem stories to go full fanservice : there are a few chapters where you'll see the characters in "sexy" outfits and that's about it.
The
...
positive aspects :
+ The art is really good looking. Many details, many different outfits, and there's also a distinctive style from the author, whether you'll like it or not is subjective, but it's still commendable that the author went with this "tomboy" design for the girls and it remains consistent throughout the whole story.
+ The comedy as I've said above is pretty good. Lots of funny moments, and they all fit nicely into the narrative.
+ The romance treatment for the main characters is done right. Mikadono Sanshimai manages to developp every relationship equally, making it hard for the reader to pinpoint the winning girl...
The negative aspects :
- Although the rhythm was pretty good in the early chapters, there's kind of a repetitive pattern that arrives around the chapters 60-70. It's not hurting the story or its enjoyment that much, but it does make it more predictable.
- There isn't a lot of characters in this manga. It might be harsh to write it off as a negative thing, but I guess it could repel some readers.
All in all, this manga is enjoyable to read and has many pros : the comedy works, the romance is interesting and treats each character in a fair way, the art is beautiful, it's a very good take on the harem genre because there's almost no bad trope from it. Nevertheless, the story does suffer a bit from a predictable pattern at times and the rhythm gets slower in the latest chapters. But we can easily overlook those problems, if you usually like harem stories, you are bound to enjoy this one aswell.
