So I finished watching this anime for the 2nd time now. Thought I would update my review.
This anime is a masterpiece. I was not one of the people on the Violet Evergarden hype train (I didn't know about his anime until 2 days before it aired). Halfway through the first episode, I was wondering why this anime was so highly rated during the premier. However, after watching the whole anime 2 times through, this anime has really touched my heart and I can't sit through any one episode of Violet Evergarden without tearing up a bit.

When trying to find bad things to say about this manga, I'm at a complete loss. Hiyokoi is an extremely cute and satisfying manga about a shy, short girl who falls in love with her class's most popular and extremely tall boy. The story that ensues not only covers their developing romance, it also shows the progression of side characters' stories and experiences. Many conflicts occur within this manga, but the main character solves it with her purity and kindness. This manga also had some really good closure for the final chapters. I picked up this movie because it was so highly recommended by so many people on reddit, mal and on many "top 10" lists. My expectations were high and I cannot tell you how disappointed I was when i finished watching it. The story felt very fragmented, with the plot jumping from one place to another. The sound was so quiet that even at max volume, I could barely hear the dialogue over my PC fans (with noise cancelling headphones in).
