This is alright. I'm not too sure if Sanbe-sensei managed to complete this manga the way he wanted to, but it did feel a bit rushed towards the end. This isn't sensei's best work, but it's still fairly compelling throughout. This manga is probably worth a reread further down the line, but it's hard to see this work as anyone's favorite Sanbe Kei manga.

The artwork is his usual style - somewhat middling but has an uncanny look to it that suits the mystery and crime genre very well. The writing is good overall. Generally speaking, past a certain point in Sanbe-sensei's career most of ...

Spoiler
I do not think this is bad, but it is disappointingly average. The issue with the manga is that it never moves past its initial premise - that being the two gyarus are friends and one of the gyarus flirts with the otaku and the otaku redirects that energy to the other gyaru. Yes, pretty much every chapter is a repeat of this exact scenario with very extremely minor differences.

The narrative is exactly as advertised, but there is some expectation with that something moves forward, or that there are twists here and there. You aren't missing much if you read the last chapter right ...

Shima-san (Manga) add
Preliminary (8/? chp)
I can definitely see why this is/was a hot topic on twitter. The manga revolves around Shima-san, a convenience store worker and the things that happen around him.

There's nothing really bombastic or crazy or dramatic or anything of the like, but there is a lot of "good human" energy. This work radiates good vibes and can really transfer that sort of positive attitude seen in the work onto the reader. It's a skill for a manga to be about the everyday, but still be interesting, and to do that without exaggeration.

Sometimes I find myself being riled up in the same way some of ...

This is kind of terrible. Chida-sensei draws well and can come up with interesting plotlines most of the time as evidenced by both this and his other works, but in this case the story is massively hindered by his torture porn fetish.

Throughout the entirety of this manga, I am kept thinking how much time is being wasted on this fetish specifically, and how the characters would be much more interesting if they weren't bound to this particular gimmick. Somewhere before the halfway point of the manga you kind of get the idea how most things conclude, so everything past that point felt inorganic due ...

This is an incredibly strong slice-of-life comedy series with a varied and likable cast of characters. The art is good, it's funny, and personalities are diverse and lifelike.

While some readers might be put off by Yamato initially, you can tell as the story goes along that he's really just a good guy, but a weirdo. Much of the cast follows this same formula where they are interesting people with one or two flaws about them.

The story ends prematurely at 102 chapters but is a comfortable read that would leave most wanting for more. I've reread the whole thing quite a few times at ...

Chainsaw Man (Manga) add
Preliminary (119/? chp)
So, I gave this series a score of (7) good, but in truth I'm not too sure if I would actually consider it "good". However, I do want to know what happens next. CSM keeps me interested and every week I'm looking forward to what happens next.

CSM is a bit of a mixed bag. It's very gory, not too coherent, it's slightly sexy, slightly funny, slightly interesting with its dialogue... and if somebody were to ask me "what is definitively GOOD about CSM?" I don't think I'd be able to say right away. I'm really interested in what sensei is going to come up ...

Riyo-sensei has a masterful command over their art style - a simpler, flat-chibi type that is both colorful and dynamic.

Characters are expressive, and their composition varied when needed. Many of Manga de Wakaru's characters/faces/scenes are so iconic that they are seen parodied in other works on both the professional and amateur level.

Sensei's full comedic genius is also completely unshackled with the innumerous number of Fate/GO characters at their disposal, and this combined with an incredible eye for humor results in banger strips one after another. The Fate/Grand Order game is required playing (reading) to enjoy this work to its fullest but do that ...

Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (36/? chp)
Unfortunately, it was this series in particular that informed me that I was in fact, NOT immune to the usual grievances towards the NTR genre.

This is a mixed review as I appreciate Satou-sensei for being a very capable artist, so the art of this series is enjoyable and very pleasant to look at. However, there is not much else that is good to this work.

The MC is the scumbag of the NTR dynamic, which is fine, but he pretty much spends the entire series gaslighting the other characters and the readers into his belief that he is doing this for the greater good. Simply ...

Preliminary (15/? chp)
Please keep in mind that, as of writing this review, less than 20 chapters of this manga are currently available.

Kentei Gakuin no Magan Kenja (KGMK) reads and looks like something from the very generic "reincarnation power fantasy" genre. Currently, the plot is nothing to write home about and the art is mostly passable and bordering on good, and occasionally bad. However, discovering this series was a pleasant surprise for a few reasons:

1. KGMK is a work that knows its limits. It does not attempt at being "smart", making the story and setting needlessly overcomplicated. It is generic, but still manages to be somewhat interesting ...

Mixed Feelings
'The First Slam Dunk' is fine but is likely not what most fans were waiting for all these years. Objectively this is not a terrible movie, but readers of the manga - especially those who have reread the series recently, will find that the movie leaves much to be desired. The music and sound design were mostly very good from what I can remember, and the 3D was bad at times, but also surprisingly better than expected at times. The voice actors are NOT the same, and some changes are quite jarring and overall unsatisfying. In the end, the movie falls short somewhat in the ...
