The most important thing to know going into this is that it serves as set up for the great parts that follow it. Jojo’s as a series is phenomenal and this season is easily the weakest of the bunch. The characters in these parts are great but what holds this season back is, ironic to the name, its simplicity. The vampires and century old advanced humans that are the villains throughout the parts are fun personality wise but too basic throughout combat and as villains to be considered something that really puts this anime on top. The main villain of each part is just a ... dick who wants power, plain and simple.

Huge saves for this season though is the character variety, unique art style, and references to pop culture and music. The second half of this season also introduces one of the best characters in the whole series who remains a consistent character. The 1800s England setting of the first part is something not seen in many anime which is neat. All in all, a great series but a weak season to start on.

This anime is so bad that the main thing I took away from it is “This is a great example of why 3D in anime is an awful thing.” The story is just bad. The characters suck, so much so that I find myself wishing half of them would get killed off so that I don’t have to deal with them being in the story anymore. The powers are just awful copies of Stands or Personas in a political apocalypse. The only thing saving this from being a 1 or 2 star review is the fact that it was just bearable enough to be able ... to watch it through to the end.

Rightfully deserving of anime of the year. An adaptation that is leagues better than its source material. It can move you, it will quench your need for action filled with blood and guts. One of the few pieces of media where tons of gore is not only done well but also a major charm of the show. The original story incorporates itself into the universe of Cyberpunk 2077 flawlessly with numerous callbacks to the game that are subtle but noticeable if you know what you’re looking for.

The characters have their own quirks and personalities that makes you feel attached to every one of them. The ... main character is relatable in his struggles and background despite living in this sci-fi setting. Also for those that have played the game, Adam Smasher looks phenomenal in an anime style.

One of the first anime to ever make me ugly cry. Every character is like able and despite this anime being clearly fictional, there are still many parallels that can be made between real life school experiences from the characters to some of problems the characters face, other than the giant yellow teacher of course. Every character is likable in their own way, even the ones with very little dialogue. The primary plot is unique and enjoyable with various curveballs to mix things up. Slice of life meets action is a thing that this anime perfects. One of my favorite anime of all time with ... my only complaint being that there isn’t more.

Abomination of a main character. Simply put, he’s a bitch through and through. His entire focus is on saving the girl that abandoned him and has no motivation to climb the tower other than for her. There are times where an intelligent character would just give up and save themselves, but no, he is determined to help this girl that he should have no reason to help.

Every character other than the main two are great though, enough to almost make up for the atrocity of Bam. I enjoy the setting of the tower and the way that the “tests” are administered. A big selling ... point is character designs. The character designs are similar enough to be from the same setting but different enough to have an interesting backstory. Overall the show is good with the exception of the main character and love interest. If possible, score would be 6.5 but 7 is also fitting.
