''Nothing can happen till you swing the bat.''
This review isn't going to be laid out as I normally would because FLCL is FLCL.
FLCL is an early 2000's anime made by Studio Gainax of Neon Genesis Evangelion fame and Studio Production I.G. FLCL feels like a direct response to Evangelion as while Neon Genesis is a show that as the director of FLCL says ''With Evangelion there was this feeling that you had better be smart to understand it, or even just work on it''
FLCL is the complete opposite of the spectrum when it comes to enjoying media and creating media as a whole. Fooley Cooley
...
is fun, confusing, and stupid. With FLCL there is never that expectation of you that understand what you're watching and the show even takes it fair share of funny jabs of arthouse pieces of media with its character Kamon but it isn't a turn your brain of off piece of show that just exists to look pretty, you can find meaning in FLCL and find themes that can connect to you however FLCL never cares if you do or don't. You don't have to find meaning in FLCL to like it or to absolutely adore it even. FLCL feels like it exists to say 'Its alright to enjoy things for the sake of enjoying it''. FLCL will never make you feel stupid while watching it because throughout its six episodes it wants the audience to have fun, it doesn't want to hurt you're head or force some deep media literacy meaning onto you, If you find meaning in FLCL that's wonderful but if you don't? that's completely alright because I feel personally half the time FLCL doesn't even understand itself so why should you? This show isn't made for you to feel smart, its made for you to enjoy it no matter the circumstances and personally its refreshing to see a show like FLCL.
I personally got my own themes out of FLCL, I got an overall theme of growing up, and that you can never truly grow up and even the 'grown ups' around you still have no clue what's going on exactly as a child would so it's okay to not understand everything that's going on in life however even if I got no meaning out of this show, I'd enjoy it the exact same way because its okay to feel stupid and its okay not to look into every piece of media as if it has deep metaphorical meaning. As Kazuya Tsurumaki said '' FLCL is the story of boy meets girl. For me it is also about how it’s ok to feel stupid.''
This show also has one of the single best soundtracks I've ever heard, Tracks like 'Advice' and 'RUNNERS HIGH' are just fantastic and the show would not be the same without the pillows making such outstanding music for it.
FLCL is a beautiful in more ways than one and I'm grateful and glad I checked it out. FOOLEY COOLEY FOOLEY COOLEY!

"The world would be so boring without idiots like you to amuse me."
Hellsing Ultimate is nothing short of insanity. This show has taken me off guard more times that I ever expected it too and I cannot thank it more. When I call this show insanity, I definitely don't mean it badly, Hellsing Ultimate is a fucking blast to watch. Its unapologetically fun and completely and utterly balls to the walls in every aspect.
Animation: This show was animated by three key animation studios Madhouse, Satelight, Graphinica respectively. From what I can gather production for this OVA adaption of Hellsing was a mess, The first four
...
episodes where animated by Studio Satelight and then due to the project being too long it was handed off to MADHOUSE who animated episodes 5-7 and after that MADHOUSE left production due to higher-ups leaving and finally for the last three episodes it was handed off too Graphinica who finished off production.
Considering the project went through production hell and Studios constantly leaving, you'd think this show was a lost cause? The animation probably isn't consistent throughout the batches of episodes each studio worked on and it looks bad to mediocre at best, right? Yeah you would think that, but somehow, somewhere, something happened because this show looks phenomenal, I'm serious. Hellsing Ultimate somehow pulled it off because its stylistic, beautiful and consistently impressed me each episode. It feels like each studio had respect for the previous and the style stays consistent throughout all ten episodes and you'd never guess this show went through such hell in production. You would never be able to tell this was three separate studios.
Hellsing is dark, scary and beautifully terrifying in animation and story, which leads me onto
Story: Hellsing starts off with a flashback where we met Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing. Integra after her fathers passing is being hunted in her own home by her uncle as he wants her dead to take over the Hellsing Organization. This is when Integra runs to the basement and reawakens an old friend of the Hellsing family. Alucard also known as Count Dracula, The Count, The King of Vampires, you get the point.
Cut to a few years later and Alucard and Integra hunt down Vampires in Britain as the Hellsing Organization has done for years before them and that's the start of Hellsing.
The story for this show goes so unexpectedly off the rails and I love every minute of it. One minute you are seeing Alucard kill a Vampire priest and the next they are fighting the Nazi's...Yes the literal Nazi's. Vampire Nazi's. Hellsing Ultimate does not hold back at all and embraces its source material completely not holding back and not cutting out anything the manga had instore. To the gory to the obscene Hellsing Ultimate has everything and more and you cannot help but look in awe or disgust depending on how you feel.
The cast is also so fun to watch on screen no matter what they are doing. Ive talked about Alucard but I havent mentioned the Scottish brut of Alexander Anderson who whenever on screen is a blast, and Walter C. Dornez to name a few. The villains are also so fun to hate and trust me, you will hate all of them.
Conclusion:
Hellsing Ultimate definitely isn't for everyone, if you don't like blood, death or gory depictions then Hellsing Ultimate is probably best skipped however if you don't mind that and want to see Count Dracula murder other vampires with some visually stunning scenes and memorable OST's, You should check out Hellsing Ultimate.

'I'm the protagonist of my own life. That's why I chose to be here'
Mob Psycho 100 II is nothing short of wonderful.
After my rewatch of season I, I decided to rewatch season II and while the first season of Mob is great in its own right, Mob Psycho season II blows its previous chapter out of the water.
Animation: Studio Bones blew this season out of the water, Mob Psycho has always been beautiful but season II feels different in that its the perfect amount of everything, The action isn't in your face while also being just a spectacle to look at and its slice
...
of life content is pretty and at time's calming. What more can I say that hasn't already been said about Bones care and love put into this show. Stand out episode when it comes to action is episode 5 'Discord ~Choices~', Which was mainly handled by Hakuyu Go who is a Mob Psycho Veteran and also worked on Mob Psycho Season I's wonderful ending fight sequence.
Story: Beautifully hopeful is how I'd describe the story of Mob II. Mob's story was wonderfully carried over in this season and the side story with Reign was powerful in ways I'd never expect from a character like him, I'd rather not get into spoilers but the last 3 episodes we're some of the best in the series. The ending is also a powerhouse of emotions that caught me in a world wind of thoughts and feelings. You can see how much little Shigeo has grown and improved not just with his powers but his idea's on the world and people as well. Everything about Mob II's story was a delight to follow and I feel ONE (Mob's author) understands his character's more than any author I have ever seen.
Overall: Mob psycho is a show that I think has a message for everyone, its beautiful in its animation, storytelling and characters. From someone who only thought it was okay on initial watch, upon rewatch this show is deserving of every single bit of praise it gets and even though I don't say this often, if you haven't watched it you really are missing out.

Platinum End has nothing to say...
Platinum End is the newest work from Obata, Takeshi and Ohba, Tsugumi mostly known for Death note and Bakuman. So this series should be up to the same quality of those shows right? No, not in the slightest.
Platinum End makes me annoyed, how did it end up this bad? how did the people who created one of the best psychological thrillers also create the worst?
First lets talk about its anime adaptation before the story:
Animation: Fine...Its fine. Signal.MD animated this adaptation of Platinum End and it was mediocre. It was never poorly animated but it was never fantastic either, it
...
was just animated. it didn't take or add anything however the only redeeming quality of Platinum End's manga was how good its art was and that amazing art isn't carried over into great animation...not that this deservers it mind you. So you really are just left for the story to carry this show...which it doesn't.
Story: The story is a mess, a full blown mess. The starting concept is great and hooks you well into the first episode but loses you midway through ep 3 because it becomes Power Rangers with a really awkward forced romance. I am not kidding the show about becoming the next God ends up being a season of Power rangers for like half way through its run time. This show has messages of Morality, Death, what it means to be human, God and if the existence of God even affects humanity... but doesn't explore them until you met Yoneda around end of Ep 18, and the themes? They are poorly done to the point of me questioning why they even bothered. Yoneda says a bunch of nothing bullshit for 7eps and then the show ends with a piss poor ending that leads you thinking
'why did i even go past ep 3?'.
Throughout the whole show you are waiting for it to pick up and it never really does. The starting concept is really cool and even the themes it wants to explore could be interesting but Platinum End cannot decided whether it wants to be a season of Power Rangers or a deep dive of religious culture and what God is and means to people even if a small majority. I am not even going to start to mention the creepy as shit character/Villain of Metropoliman (Again Power Rangers Villain name) and the forgettable and overall shitty cast of characters we are forced to follow. The only redeeming quality about this show is that it ends...Not well but it does end and you can forget about it afterwards and watch something better.
Overall: Dont watch Platinum End, if you want a similar but better show watch Death note. Death Note and Platinum end are 15 years apart but Death note still does everything Platinum End is trying to do and does it so much better, Death note is the better and more loved older brother of Platinum End and that's for a reason.
3/10 just don't

(Spoiler warning)
Hey! So to start this review off I wanna quickly talk about the misunderstandings of Kagerou Daze: In a Day's, This OVA is really misunderstood for what it is.
This isnt a 'Reboot' of Mekakucity actors, This isn't a set up for the next anime Mekakucity Reload, and no the villain isn't a new person with an eye ability.
Kagerou Daze: In a Day's is an OVA that is meant to be
1. More content for fans
2. A fun OVA that doesn't take itself as seriously as the other media of the Kagerou project however it is still connected to the project as just a
...
separate route like any of the other media.
And to quickly clear up the misunderstanding of who the 'Villain' is, its still Clearing Eyes its just this time he's taken over a random terrorists body instead of Tateyama or Konoha.
Now that's out of the way!
In a day's is a 23 Minute long OVA that is the Terrorist attack scene from the
start of the story with some things changed, for one Hibya and Hiyori aren't dead yet meaning the 'Kagerou daze' events never happen and neither of them have eye ability's, All of the Mekakushi Dan are here unlike other telling's of this part of the story and finally the terrorists they fight aren't the normal ones like before, This time Clearing Eyes has taken one of them over.
Animation/Art style - To start of the animation is a bit odd with one of the first scenes looking really off, however other than that the animation is fine and doesn't take anything away from the story, The art style however is interesting. The Mekakushi Dan are all redesigned and I really like how they all look! They're all different and unique but you can tell who everyone is and they're still the same Mekakushi Dan as before just with a little redesign which isn't new for the Kagerou project as its gone through many art styles.
Story- As I said before its basically just the Terrorist attack scene but with some changes and it fits well in a 20min OVA, it's got its fair share of Kagerou project Easter eggs. Ene sings Yuukei yesterday which is cool and at the end of the OVA as they're all walking out of the mall and Shintaro's eyes start to glow bright red which of course is a tease/reference to his eye ability
'The Retaining Eyes'
Comedy: This OVA is really funny, The Mekakushi Dan's dynamic is still present and is as funny as ever and has its fair share of scenes that made me giggle and laugh. Konoha, Hibiya and Shin are the standouts in this OVA for overalls laughs however its more physical comedy and The Mekakushi Dan being the character they are more than actually cracking jokes.
Music- The music of course is still as amazing as ever, The main Theme of the OVA is named RED plays at the end of the OVA, The music overall really fits the OVA. The OST that plays at the start when the terrorist's start to attack is also really good and cuts at the perfect time.
Voice acting - The Voice acting is perfect, all the voices match the characters. I don't know if this is the same Voice cast as Mekakucity actors as I cannot find the voice cast for In a days at all however the voice acting amazing and they all sound perfect.
Overall- In a days is a bunch of fun, however this is coming from a person who's seen the entire Kagerou project. This OVA isn't a good start to the project nor is it a follow up to Mekakucity actors, If you already know the characters and story of the Kagerou project and just want something fun that doesn't take itself to seriously then you'll adore In a days. If you go into In a days expecting it to be more than it actually is you'll be disappointed.
