I feel like the author is obsessed with the idea of creating an abnormal story and that's what made her make a cool idea and then ruin it by trying to make an extremely sad end.
When I watch anime I try to get the satisfaction of seeing happy endings that you can't see in real life but this anime just reminds of you of the real life which makes you even more depressed.
