You really can't judge an anime based on the synopsis and reviews alone because there will be anime out there that everybody hated but you actually will like. I myself have experienced this many times hence I always give all anime a try. Ai Yori Aoshi is a good example of this. The synopsis sounded like it was written by a pubescent virgin and the reviews weren't that good either, but after finishing the series I found out that there is more to this anime than what it looks like in the outside and I ended up enjoying it more than I should have.

Aoshi or Bluer than Indigo is adapted from a manga with the same name and back then it was a actually a pretty popular manga for older guys. The story revolves around Kaoru Hanabishi, a college student with a traumatic childhood. Kaoru is from the wealthy Hanabishi clan, albeit an illegitimate child. His grandfather hated him resulting in very abusive treatments, until one day he finally decides to cut off all his ties with the Hanabishi clan and start living on his own. Kaoru has been living peacefully on his own but that will all change when a person from his past appears again. Who is it? well it's none other than his ex-fiancé Ai. Sounds cheesy and cliché? it is.
The story and characters of Ai Yori Aoshi is pretty much a rip-off of Love Hina, only without the tsundere bitch and the wimpy main protagonist instantly making it a hundred times better. I found Ai yori Aoshi's characters more likeable especially Ai who's basically the perfect wife that doesn't exist in real life. I really like how the series shows how Kaoru and Ai grew their relationship together. They really are perfect for each other. This is something I always look for when watching romance - a brilliant chemistry between the main couple.
I like watching harem anime, it's just one of my guilty pleasures. However, this is a harem anime I would have much preferred if it's just a standard love triangle because I only really cared about the relationship between the two main characters Ai and Kaoru and the other characters were pretty much non-existent to me.
The biggest flaw of this anime is the pacing which is generally slow. Being a slice-of-life romance anime it was kind of expected. There weren't much conflict in the series but the little drama that it has was pretty well done in my opinion. The animation and art style is okay, it's something you would expect from a series that aired in 2002. There's nothing noteworthy in the music department maybe except for ending theme song which I really liked.
Overall I would say I really enjoyed watching this anime but I will understand if the majority of viewers will find this to be one boring shit. If you like slow-paced romance anime where it focuses more in growing the relationship of the main couple rather than throwing conflicts and drama left and right then you might want check out this one.

There is a fine line between a relaxing anime, and a boring anime. I find Lamune to be the former, but it's not going to surprise me if more people find it to be the latter.
The story follows two childhood friends, Kenji and Nanami, who only realized their feelings for each other after certain events in the story and thus the two starts a new kind of relationship. Lamune is simple, cute and as straight-forward as a childhood friend romance as it can be. There is no overarching storyline - actually I think I just spoiled a third of the story by giving that

synopsis. The show heavily focuses on slice-of-life and is mainly driven by romance and a bit of drama. While Lamune doesn't really bring anything new to the table, it's really soothing to watch. Sometimes you just have to take a break from watching all those over-the-top teenage melodrama.
The music and voice acting is good, character designs looks great, but the animation quality is subpar and sometimes almost cringe-worthy but for an anime with a low production cost it's passable.
If you're looking for an anime with lots of heavy drama and plot twists you should just skip this one because this is definitely not for you, but if you're just looking for a light-hearted romance anime that's easy to digest then you might want to give this one a try, well I certainly didn't feel like I've wasted my time watching this.

WARNING: This review contains spoilers and lots of swearing
People say the journey is more important than the destination. However, after watching this tripe named Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka, I realized that isn't always the case. Nothing can compare to the amount of disappointment I got after finishing this series. This anime, although clichéd in a lot aspects, I actually thought was pretty passable. Well, that was until that asspull ending so big I think I ripped my anus.

starts off with our main protagonist Nagase, Junichi saving a girl from being harrassed by men while on his way to school. Junichi later found out the girl he saved is the rich new transfer student Katagiri, Yuuhi. Yuuhi, at first, had a good opinion of Junichi but that changed when Junichi, because of his chuunibyo delusions, kissed Yuuhi out of nowhere. Now branded as a pervert, Yuuhi hates Junichi's guts. Much more to Yuuhi's disappointment, she discovered Junichi is actually her fiancé she transferred in to check up on. Yuuhi now decides to live with Junichi, together with Junichi's little sister Minato, to see if he really is worthy of being her bride. Thus the start of your typical romance harem.
The story is nothing special. Right of the bat we are bombarded with anime clichés like arranged marriage, the transfer student and the mandatory "accidental" kiss. It is your standard harem storyline complete with harem/ecchi tropes you have probably seen hundreds of times. However, if I have something I've learned from watching anime for years is that not all clichés are bad so I stuck with it. While Akasaka uses a lot of trite jokes mostly in the form of fanservice and side plots I couldn't care less about, there's still some enjoyment to be had in this anime. There was a point where I actually wondered why the rating was so low when it's not really that bad. The progression of the story is very slow, but the cute budding romance between our main couple, Junichi and Yuuhi, is enough to keep me watching. I genuinely got feels from this anime but sadly, everything was short-lived as they start to fuck up everything that was good about this anime.
~SPOILERS STARTS HERE~
I was in a pretty good mood when Junichi and Yuuhi finally became a couple in episode10 and shared a steamy kiss (unaware of the impending disappointment waiting for me). What happened next was an obvious attempt by the creators to be "unique".
Junichi started doubting his feelings for Yuuhi so he had a serious little chat with his best friend (at this point I'm already filled with great trepidation) well you know what happened next. On the act of the imouto gods, Junichi realized he's actually in love with his little sister Minato. WHAT THE FLYING FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!! And what's worst, Yuuhi is ok with it! Junichi confessed to Minato later, and it seems their feelings were mutual. The anime ends with Minato entering the bathroom to give Junichi a nice incestuous back scrub and later, Yuuhi also joined the bath saying she wouldn't just give up so easily blah blah. Ending credits.
My buddha, the only saving grace of the anime turned out to be a bag full of dog shit. Mind you, I'm not a fan of incest but that's not actually the main reason why I'm ranting so much about the ending. On the scale of 1 to Yosuga no sora, this anime is about a 7. Well it was hinted (but never confirmed) that Junichi and Minato aren't blood-related. You know, the usual pseudo-incest anime pulls off? The incest is part of the reason too but the main reason I am not very happy about that ending is because the ending basically rendered 10 episodes of developing Junichi and Yuuhi's relationship ABSOLUTELY POINTLESS. It felt like a everything was a fucking waste of time. Junichi and Minato hardly had any romantic interaction through-out the show and we just found out later that they actually liked each other, like what the fuck?
To be honest, I like Minato more as a character (not really as a love interest though) because Yuuhi is an annoying tsundere, but this is not how you end an anime. It's obvious the creators were trying to be different here, which isn't bad, it's just this time they failed VERY MISERABLY.

*CHARACTERS: 5/10
Well there's nothing really much to say about the characters because they are very one-dimensional; aren't unique or special in any way at all. We have the usual violent tsundere, the caring little sister and of course Akasaka wouldn't be considered a harem without other girls crushing on the main protagonist for reasons we don't know.
The main protagonist Junichi, in my opinion, is probably the most likeable of the characters mainly because he's not your usual overly perverse romcom harem MC who blushes and have fatal nosebleeds on every sight of something titillating. MCs like him are more common in action harems and I must say I greatly prefer this type of MC. However, that is not nearly enough to make up for the lack of character development in almost all of the characters, and not to mention, the whole bunch of other unimportant characters added just for the sake of having more characters.
*ART/ANIMATION: 6/10
The first thing I've notice was the character designs, more specifically the character's hairstyles that looked like it took them 10 cans of hairspray to shape it that way. They have some of the wildest hairstyles that I've seen in anime that is not battleshounen. TNK doesn't really stand out when it comes to art quality, though their animation can be good sometimes. When you look at their other works, art and animation is average at best. Akasaka's art and animation quality is not that much different.
*SOUND/MUSIC: 8/10
When you have a cast of talented voice actors like Rie Kugimiya and Aya Hirano you can almost never go wrong with voice acting. And for Akasaka's opening and ending theme, well it's pretty okay but not really what I would consider memorable.
*OVERALL/ENJOYMENT: 4/10
Akasaka, while it had its good moments, was mediocre at best, but it just have to sink even lower by pulling off that stupid ending. Unless you have a thing for imoutos, you should just stay away from this anime and forget it even existed, because what awaits you is just great disappointment and possibly anal fissures.

Mushi. Strange lifeforms said to be more primitive than germs and bacteria. Very few people can see them and they can cause strange phenomenom ranging from weird illnesses to paranormal events. And we also have the Mushi-shi. Mushi experts specializing in eradicating or capturing harmful mushi, helping people with their mushi problems. One of them is Ginko, the mushi-shi with a strange white hair, traveling to various places to help people and also to seek more knowledge about mushi.
Despite having a relatively high rating, my expections for anime was rather low. It doesn't have action, it doesn't have romance so pretty much I just watched

this anime on a whim. But after finishing Mushishi, I found myself thoroughly impressed because this was indeed a great anime.
Mushishi is an episodic anime set in fictional old Japan. Watching Mushishi reminds me of folktales and legends. The way the story is told, mixed with gloomy and sometimes relaxing atmosphere of the show, really gives you this feeling of eeriness. The story itself is unique and creative. There is no overarching plotline so there are new characters every episode with new mushi problems and of course our mushi hero Ginko appears to save the day. The story sounds simple but I have respect for the creators of Mushishi and writers who create episodic stories in general, because not only will they have to create new stories every episode but also every episode needs to be just as good as the last one. And unlike non-episodic anime, episodic shows doesn't have cliffhangers to keep viewers from watching.
Artwise, Mushishi's backgrounds and sceneries are well-done, capturing historical Japan very nicely. However, I can't really say the same for the character designs. The characters looked to much alike. There were a number of times where I thought I was looking at a character from a previous episode. Well that is pretty much the only gripe I have with regards to the art but all in all Artland did a great job.
Anyone who watched Mushishi will definitely remember the opening theme "The sorefeet song". The song doesn't really have anything to do with the story or theme of Mushishi but I personally think it's the perfect op for Mushishi because it surprisingly fits well with the atmosphere of the show.
There are a lot of characters in Mushishi because it is episodic and most of them will never appear again in later episodes. So I'm not going to talk about the supporting characters anymore because they are not given much characterization and are only created solely for one episode. Let's just talk about Ginko the main character. Ginko is by far not a complex character but that doesn't mean he is shallow. He is level-headed, insightful and very knowledgeable. He kind of reminds me of Kakashi from Naruto. Put simply, he is the type of characters cool boys wants to be when they grow up but fails miserably.
Overall, Mushishi is a great anime that you shouldn't miss. If you want a breather from all the battleshounen or romance shoujo you're watching and would like something that is unique and well-thought-out, then you should watch Mushishi. Highly recommended.

It sure took me a while to get that "deep" dialogue by Satou if you know what I mean. *wink* * wink*
NHK ni Youkoso! or Welcome to the NHK! is a psychological anime presented in a humorous way. It's definitely one of the most unique and depressing anime I've watched thus far and I found myself laughing out loud every time our main protagonist, Satou, makes a fool out of

himself but that laughter can very quickly change to depression, and at times I ask myself "Is this suppose to be funny or depressing?". With all the tragedy, drama and comedy this show has to offer, it's a definite roller coaster of emotions. It's not perfect (well what is?), but NHK definitely deserves a spot on my top five favorite anime of all time.

*STORY: 9/10
While the main plot revolves around Satou trying to get rid of his hikikomori lifestyle, most of the episodes are about Satou getting caught in series of unfortunate (but funny) events. NHK is divided into several arcs dealing with real growing social problems in the world and somehow Satou always finds himself caught up in this weird situations. From extreme online gaming addiction to getting involved in a scam, Satou will get himself in all sorts of trouble just to be saved in time by his friends Misaki and Yamazaki (sometimes).
NHK is pretty dark and gloomy in general. The mood of the show is heavy and depressing but it also delivers effective humor for comic relief that really helps balance things out.
Romance is only a subplot in the show but it does play a major role in the progression of the story, especially towards the ending. However, I found the romance a little disappointing because I was expecting a more conclusive ending with a solid romantic resolution. In the end I found myself staring at the screen expecting more when the credits started rolling. But even though the love between our main couple was left open-ended, it's not necessarily a total let down. There is still some satisfaction to be had on this one.
The pacing of the show is slow in general (sometimes excruciatingly slow) but overall concept of the show is quite unique and well executed.
*CHARACTERS: 9/10
There are only four relevant characters in NHK and all four of them have some serious mental issues. Let start off with our not-so-normal main protagonist Tatsuhiro Satou, a 22-year-old delusional bitch living the life of a hikikomori. Satou thinks that the broadcasting station NHK is plotting a conspiracy by making people addicted anime. Best character 10/10. The second most important character and also Satou's love interest is Nakahara Misaki, a high school student who's "helping" Satou with his hikikomori problem by involving Satou in her "big project". Also there's Yamazaki Kaoru, a super-otaku and probably the sanest of the bunch. He is Satou's junior in high school and later in the anime his best friend. And lastly, we have Kashiwa Hitomi who's just background character but she plays an important role in the story, actually we wouldn't even have a story in the first place without her. Hitomi is Satou's senior and friend in high school who is also a delusional bitch. She has a deep fascination for conspiracy theories which is basically what lead to her into becoming a delusional bitch and was kind enough to involve Satou in it.
Characters is definitely the strongest point of the NHK. We have well-rounded and easily relatable characters. They are society's misfits, not really sure what's the significance of their life but that is where character development kicks in and we start to see them grow into amazing characters although sometimes I like to strangle Satou for making the dumbest descisions.
*ART: 7/10
While the art overall is pretty decent, there are some noticeable flaws. There are times when the characters are drawn kind of weird and slightly looking different. I don't know the reason for this, maybe they are low on budget or something, but it can really get on my nerves sometimes. And I think Satou looked a little too old for a 22-year-old. I understand that Satou isn't really living a very healthy lifestyle but I think they overdid it a little. But if you're not really that particular in anime art quality I don't think you would even care about these stuffs or even notice them so it's not really that much big of a problem.
*SOUND: 8/10
I loved all the OP and ED they used in the anime. The opening theme "Puzzle" is a very catchy song by Round Table feat. Nino. They are amazing as always. The ending themes were also great. The first ED "Odoru Akachan Ningen" is rock song with an intentional out-of-tune sound that really goes well with the crazy psychological aspect of NHK and the second ED "Modokashii Sekai no Ue De" which is more of a sad song which I also like.
Also there is one particular song in this anime that I just have to mention. It's the "Purupurupururin" song which is sang by a fictional idol in NHK. This song is played a lot of times in the series and Satou even made it his ringtone (I'm confused why though because Yamazaki is the fan not Satou). This song is extremely annoying in the beginning but after hearing it several times I actually found it to be very catchy. I even downloaded it and made it my alarm tone, but after using it as my alarm tone for a week, it became really annoying again. Lol
*OVERALL/ENJOYMENT: 10/10
Overall, Welcome to the NHK! is highly enjoyable and as you can see, I gave this anime a perfect 10. That just proves how much I enjoyed watching this anime, but since we all have our own personal preferences there is no guarantee you'll enjoy NHK as much as I did. I don't really recommend this to kids since NHK does contain adult themes and some nudity (heck, if you're a growing boy why not?) but other than that I think everyone should give this a try. Even if you're not into psychological anime (like me) you might still enjoy this because Welcome to the NHK, while it has it's shortcomings, is a masterpiece in it's own way.

Looking for a romance/comedy/harem anime to kill time? Look no more because Love Hina will SERIOUSLY KILL your time.
I've watched Love Hina before way back when I was still a kid and I remember loving this series, but after re-watching this series 10+ years later, I began to question my taste for anime because Love Hina is by far one of the most stupid and ridiculous anime I've ever watched and I can't believe it’s actually possible for me to hate an anime this much.

will do anything to defend their beloved anime, so I'll try not to be too harsh on this. Okay, time to get started with this rant—I mean review.
*CHARACTERS: 5/10
The characters of Love Hina are soooo darn GENERIC and just downright ANNOYING that I need to punch the wall just to appease my frustration. Let me introduce them.
— Urashima, Keitarou - The main protagonist. He is really dumb and extremely unreliable but he is very persevering (Sounds familiar?) and he makes a good punching bag for Naru.
— Narusegawa, Naru - The main heroine. She's a tsundere on drugs who's got nothing better to do besides beating up Keitarou EVERY…SINGLE...DARN...TIME!!!.
— Aoyama, Motoko - The very typical "Ice Queen" of the harem.
— Maehara, Shinobu - The kind and pure-hearted middle schooler *cough* loli bait.
— Su, Kaolla - The awfully annoying and carefree kid in the harem.
— Konno, Mitsune - The "mature" one.
— Otohime, Mutsumi - The airhead.
I don't have a problem with harems, in fact, I love them (not including reverse harems) so I'm quite used to stereotypical girls, but the girls in Love Hina are just so darn annoying that it's impossible for me to like any of them. The one I have the biggest problem with though is not one of the girls, it's the stupid MC Keitarou! because he is just so fucking useless and unreliable! I JUST FUCKING HATE THIS GUY!!!. He doesn't have any redeeming qualities whatsoever except for his undying perseverance and hard work that leads to nothing most of the time.
*STORY: 4/10
The story revolves around Keitaro and the "promise" but mostly, the episodes are just stupid fillers designed to prolong this stupid anime. The fillers doesn't contribute to the plot one bit and can get really really random, for example, ancient turtle civilizations? seriously? come on, they can do better than that. I wish they focused more on the main plot because I was actually curious who's this mysterious "promise" girl.
Although I have lots of bad things to say about this anime, I can't deny the fact that I did get some laughs watching Love Hina, but the jokes becomes so repetitive (Naru beating up Keitarou) I'm laughing no more.

I actually liked the OP and ED and I kinda felt nostalgic hearing them again. The OP is kinda catchy, although it annoyed some viewers, I'm not annoyed by it at all.
As for the Japanese voice acting, there's one voice that grabbed my attention, the voice of Motoko. Her voice is adorable especially when she is screaming. The voices of the other characters are also good and fits the characters quite well.
*OVERALL/ENJOYMENT: 5/10

you like generic harem anime.
you like old and repetitive jokes.
you like an extremely violent tsundere heroine and a pathetic loser MC.
you're masochistic.
But if you're not any of what I mentioned above, I suggest you cross this out on your list now, because I guarantee you'll hate this one.
