I'm upset because this movie could have been great. However, it somehow managed to make me feel like I was watching a cheap imitation of itself.

Story: Awful pacing. They wanted to show a lot and didn't have the time. Also, this feels like someone not trying to copy other Ghibli films as much as someone who tried to learn from them and missed the mark. It was clear what every scene was trying to convey and how we were supposed to feel about the characters and that was the problem. This movie somehow managed to commit the tell not show error by showing too ... much. It was almost impressive. Additionally every scene switch felt weirdly jarring even when it was the same character just walking in one room to another to me. Reveals were misplaced and scenes used too many times, which also lent to the color by the number feel of this movie.

Art: Exquisite. We all knew that though. Without it, the cracks in this movie would be 10x clearer.

Sound: Beautiful music, however, like the story it felt awkwardly placed and sometimes too loud. It became music that said, you need to feel this now, instead of music that leant itself to the moment.

Character: I dislike Yuna almost solely based on the fact they tried so hard to get me to like her. Van was dull, they didn't quite figure out how to make him the tortured quiet heroic lead. The doctor gave me Howl vibes but ultimately seemed....unnecessary even though he most definitely was necessary. The female tracker was cool at first but also missed the mark with telling us exactly why she felt what she felt but also being vague? Her actions were at times inconsistent and not in a character growth kind of way. All in all, the characters had no room to breathe and come to life.

Enjoyment: I was angry watching this movie. I sat in the theatre lamenting on what this could have been. I was excited to see this had an R rating and even though I think they could have made it PG13 with what was shown, I appreciate the darker moments. In retrospect though, I look back and wonder if they may have not been confident in their ability to convey that darkness without showing it...

Overall, I think it was a decent movie that I won't watch again. It had the bones to be better. I think it could easily be redone by a different story teller or maybe the same person going back to the drawing board.

Well Since there's a negative review, I feel there's a need for a positive one too.

Story~
The story is about a girl whos dad was a sperm donor for school and he never knew about her. Her parents died and so he accepted her as his daughter after a little time. Throughout the story there are all these little details that arent random but are a little much. Like the dad has fear of women touching him because of the frequent sexual abuse from many women throughout is life.he is also was a supposed germaphobe. I think the author forgot about that,but they said a few ... times. Then the main female character has her life and how she has a temper and all.shes also a "playgirl." Yet everyone loves her. She eventually changes her best friend and got a real boyfriend and he had his problems that we had to read about. I think this manga was just packed full of little problems everyone had, and that's fine.But almost none of these problems were REALLY addressed like they should. For example, when your parents die, you don't get over it after crying once. You don't cheat on your boyfriend with his best friend,not hide it, and not care and expect your "hubby" not to care. And when i say hubby, I mean guy she always stays with who isn't her bf and they're only 14yrs. old so no marriage.anyway if you don't sweat the details you can really enjoy the humor this manga gives.

Art~
The art is decent. The guys who are supposed to be hot are. Inmy opinion though there were only slight differences in the face for everyone.the only major diff was their hair. Also if you were old you got wrinkles and all.

Character~
The main girl has a temper but everyone loves her. I suppose becuase she's fun?which is realistic but ...it's still questionable. Shes empathetic towards people
LIke her maid. Becuase of things like this everyone says how she has a great uprbringing from her foster parents. But maybe it's just me, I don't really want a kid who plays with people's feelings and bullies when she wants to. I mean she's or that bad but if this was a different manga shed be a random jealous chick. The dad is supposed to be the hottest character and he looks nothing like his parents. If I was his dad I'd be suspicious. Anyway he and the daughter are Alike in their temper and they have a very good relationship. They don't fight even once I think. Everyone else was nice, they have different personalities. Again in my opinion, I think it was nice that nobody really had bad hidden intentions. For instance, when the main character had everyone bully her ex-best friend, we all knew about it. But I mean when I get tripped down the steps three times, somebody is gonna pay.

Enjoyment and overall~
I think this a pretty good sized manga with a well done story. Can it be better?definitly. But did I enjoy It? Definitly. Did at certain parts i laugh my butt off? Definitly. (like when the main characters grandpa looked at a picture of his granddaugher and said "this,this is that little pricks's[the prick is the granddad's son and the main girls dad] kid?!!?!)And that's all that matters.

It was amazing in my opinion. it was funny,sad,deep,and it had romance. it had a bit of reading for my taste and some might say it wa dark but it really gives the feeling of that happens to some people. i almost cried but it really somehow made you think and feel so much pity but at the same time have this positive attitude in your head cheering them on.

im probably just crazy but it really was amazing. it was bout a girl whos parents died and so she became mentally sick.later we realize she felt like everyone she loved was snatched away from her.Then ... there was kei who had a greater or equal trials to chockou(her name is something like this) but he becomes so dark that even his friend sees this true hate and darkness eating him away. ultimately though they realize they need each other to wipe away the darkness even if "they may dirty their hands".Overall it was better than inspiring.
