He was an animation art director and founder of the Kobayashi Production. He also served as a visiting professor at Kobe Design University.
After graduating from Musashino Art University, Kobayashi worked as an elementary school art teacher before joining Toei Douga in 1964 as an art director. He joined Gendai Seisaku Shuudan in 1968, but left the following year to start his own studio, Kobayashi Production. He was the company's representative director until it was dissolved in February 2011, at which point he retired from the animation industry. He was a well-known art director who worked on many series and films throughout his career, including Ashita no Joe 2, Magical Angel Creamy Mami, and Lupin III Castle of Cagliostro. Kobayashi died on August 25, 2022 due to congestive heart failure at the age of 89. |
