Both stories are similar in a way that main characters create a team where they try to bring best out of each other and for the main characters it is their first time being on a real team where they are accepted. Also fun part is that in Haikyuu the relationship between main characters is kind of rival-ish: both know how to talk back to each other, while in Ookiku the relationship is more supportive, at least in the beginning. Also, did I mention that the main characters are visually similar? It's so fun to see visually similar characters act totally opposite in different manga.

Both are enjoyable stories about high school sports with thought-out game tactics and equal concentration on game plays and character development.

Both are baseball manga that center around 1 character as the MVP.

Both are sports manga; Oofuri is baseball, and Harigane is volleyball. Both main characters have great control over the ball. In Oofuri, the main character can throw his pitches exactly where he wants them to go and has mastered several kinds of pitches. In Harigane, he can control where his serves go and what kind of spin they have. Both characters are a little insecure in the beginning and feel like they cannot match up to the other players.

While most sports manga is published in shounen magazines, these two both lean more into shoujo-esque patterns of storytelling and art.

Though they are two different sports, Ookiku Furikabutte and 15: Meisetsu Kougyou Koukou Rugby Bu have many aspects in common. Mihashi from Oofuri is very similar to Akira from Rugby Bu; the two used to practice their sports (baseball for Mihashi, rugby for Akira) by themselves, have gained absolute, almost godly control of their balls (Mihashi's pitches are amazingly accurate, Akira can project where his ball will land or rebound back with his kicks), had no real friends before they joined their team, and are both awfully cute and child-like. Abe from Oofuri is like Yui from Rugby Bu; they are the first to become  read more

Great slice of life sport manga about baseball with many character interactions and life lessons. I think if you have ever enjoyed Oofuri you should check out Yugami manga as well. You don't even need to know much about baseball to cheer for the characters in both series since the matches are quite interesting. However, Oofuri focuses more on the sport itself while Yugami is more slice of life oriented.

Both are baseball manga where main character has struggle fitting in with the teammates due to some past event. In that sense they are quite psychological as main characters blame themselves for events that have been caused by other people. Ookiku is old series while Diamond is quite new. There is also something about the artstyle, the way characters are drawn that feels similar between those series. If you liked one, you could try checking out the other.

The main character is a pitcher in two manga. Even if there personality are completely different, there are both funny in some ways. Plus, Mihashi and Eijun have both something special about their pitches. The two manga really make you want to start playing baseball. I swear!
