THe main characters of both series both have a similar approach toward youkai: they try-not-to-kill-if-possible attitude towards youkai them even if have had bad experiences with them. Both of them have youkai in their daily lives, and both try to help others with their problems regardless of race. However, for all the mc's similarities, they also have their differences. Tactic's Kantarou is more sly and amiable toward youkai while NY's Natsume is more instinctive and aloof towards youkai. It's interesting seeing how though they have a similar approach and often achieve similar results, the lessons they seem to take from it differ due to their  read more

1. They're both villain of the day mangas about youkai 2. The male MC's have cherubic faces, are older than they look, have a dark past, and have mysterious auras 3. The 2 male MC's (Kantarou/Haruka and Hanako/Kou) in both mangas are an exorcist and a youkai 4. Both of the male MC's have apprentices who they sometimes bicker with, Youko and Yashiro They both have the same atmosphere where you like the characters and you smile at their random adventures or they leave you with the feels. Witch Hunter is kind of similar to Tactics due to the characters. The main Character loves money, and they worry alot about expenses (Tasha/Kantarou) but both chooses not to kill what they meant to kill (Tasha - Witches, Kantarou - Youkais) They don't kill them but instead try to help. both main characters always goes around with a guardian at their side (Tasha - Halloween, Kantarou - Haruka) The main character partly has the same personailty traits. Their guardians (Haruka and Halloween) both consider to have a past they dont remember of know. Also both of them consider their master's well...yea. But they end up thinking  read more

They both have a similar supernatural kind of setting. The major differences are that Tactics has more humor and Tousei is set up differently. Tousei is set up where there seems to be a bunch of one-shots that aren't really connected aside from having the same characters, but as you go further in the story you find that the chapters do lead to one main plot.

Superficially, they're highly similar - both revolve around Japanese religion as well as exorcism/demons/youkai. The art in Tactics is much more modern than that of Tokyo Babylon (considering it's about ten years newer than Tokyo Babylon) but both feature pretty boys/men in an ... ambiguous relationship. Under the surface, both also focus on the idea of 'westernization' - the decline of traditional Japanese culture as it is replaced by Western norms and values. tactics does this through it's setting - the Taishou era (think early twentieth century) while Tokyo Babylon achieves it through it's plot, and periodical reflections by the characters. Both are fairly episodic, although  read more
