The title characters as well as their male counterparts and the relationship between them are almost identical between the two managas. Both have an even focus on action and character/relationship/backstory/plot development. And it's all in high school, of course. The only real difference is Shakugan no Shana has fantastical elements, while Hidan no Aria is more grounded in reality.

The plot outline for both manga is very much the same. The main character meets a girl/boy and their life is change forever, as the protagonist is thrown into a world of supernatural. Both have romance, loli, and action.

Haruhi Suzumiya is also a tsundere, though not as hard core. Art in novels/original character deisgns are by the same person. Both are also fantasy.

Both deal with a guy who meets a battle girl and the girl makes the guy part of the battle

Both series feature a loli heroine who has otherworldly powers, and a plot involving supernatural elements in everyday life, although Tena on S-String is less intense than Shakugan no Shana.
