Cage of Eden is basically like Highschool of the Dead except, you know, better. Though both manga are set in a world of fantasy, CoE has a much more realistic tone to it. The characters are generally more likable, realistic, and relatable. Plus, I appreciate the fact that though both are kinda ecchi, the girls in CoE have breasts that, though still rather large, are not as ridiculously sized as it is in HoD (I honestly began to question whether they were really human and not just a pair of boobs with a small head and body attached for decoration). I always find myself going back  read more

Both series follow characters in the midst of a zombie outbreak.

Narrative and character tropes in these two titles are basically the same. One could argue that Mahou Shoujo of the End is HotD with "zombie" magical girls.

While H.O.T.D. takes place in a high school, Apocalypse no Toride takes place in a juvenile reformatory.

If you like GANTZ you will love Highschool of the Dead (HOTD) as well. Both have a kick ass main character and tons of hot girls that somehow tie into the story plot. In GANTZ you follow a team of individuals as they are summoned on missions to kill off aliens, while given extremely powerful weapons. In HOTD you read as a group of high school students are forced to fend off zombies and fight for their lives, trying not to get bitten. As in GANTZ, HOTD is filled with blood and violence as the band of average individuals try desperately under circumstances they have  read more

Nothing like a normal High School day turning into S**T by a random zombie infection right? Both stories start at a High school and a random zombie infection starts to manifest and take over the city and a group of kids has to fight their way out while saving a few people

Same artist, and it's similar in that these are both series that largely focus on girls, guns, and cool vehicles. Triage X was in fact largely created for the purpose of filling Highschool of the Dead's space while it was on hiatus, so content-wise, expect a lot of similarities.

Zombie manga mixed with ecchi and similar plot, Kingdom of the z is about a guy that got saved by 2 cute girls and they are trying to make a kingdom in this world full of zombies, using the zombies for electricities and pawns. Really recommend this if you like HOTD

Beyond sharing the theme of a zombie outbreak, both works have a particular style of stamping "B movies" in the manga, mixing the ridiculous with the erotic, gore, and tragedy. So if you enjoy stupid and sexy, read them; but turn off your brain first.

Both very similar, due to having to fight for survival. One being zombies and the other being titans.

Both manga are of the survival horror genre, which I think there should be more of!

Both HOTD and Zombie 100 take place in a post-apocalyptic world filled with zombies. Though Zombie 100 take a lighter tone on how the MC faces the new world, it's still has the survival elements found in zombie stories. Zombie 100 is a comedy though, but with some serious parts unlike HOTD which is 90% of the times serious.

school-live, or by the japanese name gakkougurashi! is a zombie one of those few real zombie apocalypse manga series, basically its just a bunch of cute high school girls surviving in their school. they eventually get brave enough to leave the school to face new dangers but in hope to keep surviving.

The premise is different, but high school of the dead is another Post-apocalyptic manga where humanity is on the brink. a few chapters bear a lot of similarity to how sheltered people treat those that have survived in the now violent world.

another zombie manga, but with high schoolers. read with a grain of salt as it is incomplete due to the creator passing away

High-school students witness the dawn of a zombie apocalypse and must subsequently survive it. HOTD is more of an ecchi action "blockbuster" while All of Us Are Dead is more serious and realistic.

If you liked the more laid back, slice of life zombie survival aspects of high school of dead you will like conveni of the dead. The arcs where they spend their time prepping and barricading themselves into safe houses is basically the entirety of conveni of the dead.

These are both stories that focus on high school aged students trying their best survive the zombie apocalypse, mostly in a school setting, until they venture outside of their comfort zones.

Both of these manga focus on zombie centric stories with young adult casts, both are semi fan servicey

Both of these manga are post apocalyptic survival dramas that focus on the undead/zombies.

What the 2 have in common? - Zombies. -Hot Joshkauseis, -Ecchi and a whole lotta surviving to do.

Both are horror/action that also contain a huge amount of gore. In both shows, the protagonist finds himself in a bizarre world filled with monsters, and he is desperately trying to survive...

Both have schoolgirls and schoolboys fighting for their lives in sexy and exciting ways that often leaves the girls with very little clothes loosely hanging around their special parts :) Both have awesome artwork but it takes Ikkitousen a longer time for the artwork to get to its full potential as compared to HotD which has the same quality of artwork from the first chapter and beyond Both have awesome female characters that instantly leave their male associates in the dust. Although both have awesome female characters like Saeko Busujima, Ryomou Shimei and Kanu Unchou, there are also plenty of unnecessary female characters that may have made the  read more

The two titles share a similar driving force, namely surviving in a world that has gone completely insane that was brought about by a very quick and catastrophic event (in HotD a zombie virus spreads rapidly throughout the world while in Lives a mysterious meteorite changes the people into beasts) Another similarity is that both titles share a similar art style with plenty of gore and sexual content and death is everywhere. both have plenty of great action scenes and have characters that are quite interesting to say the least especially some of the lead female characters who are more than just eye candy (Still very  read more

Both titles have a high school setting at the start but eventually reach beyond the school walls Both have a supposedly male lead character but are easily overshadowed by their more awesome and more interesting female companions Both have awesome female character designs and plenty of them Both have awesome artwork and focuses mostly on the pornstar like female characters. Although the difference is that HotD's artwork is consistently strong from the beginning to present whereas the artwork for Tenjo Tenge started out as a little lackluster at the beggining but as the mangaka managed to get more assistants, the artwork gradually improves Both have female schoolgirls in revealing  read more

similar themes of a few kids falling into a strange, deathly, and hopeless situation with them against the world.

Both are survival horror, are pretty gory and have a typical survival cast. Only in El El the cast is younger and the story does not develop the charaters too much.

Mouryou no Yurikago (Cradle of Monsters) can best be describe so far as High School of the Dead : Semester at Sea!

In both manga there are zombies, and share more or less takes place in school.

-The characters in both are engulfed in a major disaster that changes those around them. They are forced to find a way to cope with the change as humanity's last hope -The male protagonists gains lifelong companions along his journey -The disaster that occurs in both change the majority of people into mindless lunatics/zombies.

Lots of gore, start of Highschool of the Dead looks like a scene from Saitama Chainsaw Shoujo.

The characters in both of had to adjust to the changing environment and also make drastic decisions.

Both of these manga put a group of teenage kids in a life-or-death free for all situation, and their only way out is literally to fight for their lives. The horror element in both manags is pretty graphic, and there is a lot of killing as well. The protagonist is a pretty level headed loner who will kill if he has to, and has a childhood friend that follows him and most likely has a crush on him. The plot for Chaosic Rune has a bit more fantasy with monsters and such, while guns and other weapons are mainly used in HSOTD. There are decent  read more
