Both are a more "realistic" take on isekai, and while The faraway paladin's MC (Will) is quite powerfull, each enemy can still be threat and he can't allway win which help keep the tension hight, but unlike in Grimgar it's overall way more potive despite the rather dark world. Both serie are also really light on fan service with no harem and a very slow romance or no romance.

Isekai - MC transported to another world. This world has medieval technology and fantasy creatures/magic/fighting/themes. MC are not particularly strong, often lose their battles, and must adapt and change in order to move forward. Both works are not shy of capitalizing on the use of death and despair. Characters are memorable, and the relationships between them are important to the story.

Spoiler alert It's incomplete if Isekai doesn't have romance, Isekai Meikyuu is a story about an MC who has yeah, you know. I recommend that Hai to Gensou no Grimgar will have a sex scene there, I hope you will be patient as it will be great if you read further.

This is a story about isekai, I don't really recommend it (low) but considering how strides Hai to Gensou Grimgar was so I put this on the list. Although this is weak but it has in common that the MC is fighting hard to achieve its goals, all this is just for revenge.

In both series, the main protagonists are thrown into a fantasy world where monsters are real and they must fight to survive. The MC develops skills as they unlock new abilities and faces off against deadly foes. Goblins are also a common sight in both series. In essence, their world fiction ties in a lot with fictional fantasy setting. It also contains concepts like medieval weaponry, armor, and other special abilities. Do note that Re:Monster contains more mature content while Hai to Gensou no Grimgar focuses more on relationship dynamics.

Taking place in a fantasy world, both series involves game elements as the main protagonist's life is drastically changed. They discover the essence of magic and monsters in this new world as well as mysterious characters that they must rely on to survive. Both series are also known for the main protagonist's hidden potentials as they discover along the way during their adventures.

Goblin Slayer and Hai to Gensou no Grimgar are both a take on the action, fantasy genre. Where they differ from other popular light novels available, however, is in their grounded realism. There is still magic to be found within both stories, but the worlds in which they operate are much more brutal and unforgiving—where even the lowliest monster is never to be underestimated. They both make for refreshing reads with Hai to Gensou no Grimgar focusing more on characterisation and introspection; whilst Goblin Slayer is more unadulterated dark fantasy.

Frieren of the Funerals is one of the series that reminds at that death is just around the corner. When I first read Sousou no Frieren. Grimgar comes close to mind. It has a slice of life dialogues and it's about reminiscing their former comrades and continuing to live on even for their former comrades. Sadly, Grimgar manga was axed but I do recommend to take on the light novel.

They are both a RPG based. Both main characters have a loot in common. Grimgal focus more on the realism wile Danmachi is more about emocion.
