People who are tired of the world were invited to go into a different world. Due to reasons and interests, the invited people decided to go. It also happen that in both world they are invited, every conflict is to be decided by "games". While Mondaiji-tachi, the "games" are called games but not necessarily simple games but games that consist of war like situations. No Game No Life on the other hand, the games are simply games with additional element to make it more interesting.

In the story, both MC's are basically in a different world and they're both badass. Not to mention, they both have a little sister who they're not related with by blood. The only difference is that in SAO, the MC is trying to go back to the real world while in No Game No Life, the MC despises the real world.

I feel that a lot of people who have read Sword Art Online will like No Game No Life, not really because they are very similar, in fact they are two ends of the same shelf so to speak given that one is about tying to escape from a new world and the other is about making it in a new world, but the key similarity is they both feature a main character who enjoys games and uses that to pursue their end goal. So in conclusion they are both rather different whilst being subtly similar given they are both about someone who gets a  read more

(there is a button "read more") While the settings and personalities are totally different, there are still big similarities. :: Both Ayanokouji and Sora are experts in mind games. They can figure out how their opponents think, and act accordingly. They both are most of the time steps ahead by having counter measures which will make them win in the end. Both Light Novels don't explain what countermeasures they are preparing until the very end, where they explain how they predicted everything. :: Each volume introduces you to new characters, which involves around a new game (NGNL) / event (CotE). These games / events are becoming  read more

Light novels about a protagonist that gets transported into a world that operates on game rules and so the protagonist decides to conquer the world just for the fun.

Highly intelligent but maybe slightly irresponsible (understatement, both of those) main characters get into a position of power thanks to involvement of supernatural - a god of games/god of death getting involved in their lives. Both series have multi-layered mind games of protagonists againts difficult foes. While Death Note is very seriouis, No Game No Life is more comedical.

GATE and No Game No Life shares several similarities. These include a fantasy world where monsters exist and different races/factions that co-exist within human society. There is also an abundant amount of laws/rules that makes up their world. Both series' main male protagonist are also cunning and develops a variety of relationships with others. Their participation in certain battles are a significant part of the story as we see how their influences. Recommended for fans interested in a colorful adventure.

It seems as if Hiroki and Shiro (EArTh) were the prototypes to Sora and Shiro (NGNL) as they have some similarities. One of them are their appearances: Both Hiroki and Sora have that tall, slim figure with messy hair and Shiro and Shiro are both cute white-haired lolis. They are also made by the same creator Yuu KAMIYA so the writing and art have their similarities.

In both novel series, the protagonist(s) get transported to another world in which everything is decided by games. In No Game No Life, they can play any kind of game they want, as long as both parties agree. In Item Cheat, the only kind of game they can use is a card game "Duel" using Wiz cards. Another thing both series have in common is that both Shouma (Item Cheat) and Sora (NGNL) know the exact extent of their powers and talents.

Light novels about NEET protagonists that get transported into a different world and are not afraid of taking advantage of that neither they show any remorse about taking advantage of others. Both are comedies with quirky characters.
