Written by the same author, you'll find in both a very detailed and logical medieval world (note: those 2 works aren't in the same world), as the author uses to its fullest his knowledge of the European Medieval period. While S&W is mostly about economy with a touch of supernatural, Magdala is about alchemy (as a science, not as some kind of supernatural thing) with a touch of supernatural. Involves the church and another opposing ideal that is science. Index of Toaru and Fenesis of Magdala have similar characteristics, both in personalities and in appearance. Both heroines are knowledgeable about the church but not so much in science. The heroines are also suffer from curses early in the series. The main protagonists in both series (Kamijou and Kuusla) are considered heroes to the nuns.
