Both stories centre around an irregular at a Magic Highschool, despite this series being centred around Miyuki, it still has many similar themes and the story still revolves around her brother, Tatsuya (the irregular). The major difference between Mahouka Koukou is that it attempts to instil a society where magic is practical and common and explores social issues arising from the distinction between magicians and regular people while Mx0 focuses on the comedic relationship the irregular forms with his peers.
