This is the one of the view manga's I've actually been compelled to read and I can say Without a doubt that its a must-read manga, although the ending is a bit rushed which sucks and I'm sad that this is the end of it for now (i can Hope it comes back can't I).

The story is far more interesting then that of the first season with many new enemies and allies, its defiantly a good read if you're new to manga (like myself) if you like supernatural,harem and action this is the manga for you.

It was a breath of fresh air when the Shounen Jump title Rosario + Vampire came out, bringing with it an interesting take on the harem genre, within a Monster Academy setting. But alas it came to an abrupt end, along with the Monthly Shounen Jump magazine. Fortunately it was popular enough to warrant a continuation in the form of Rosario + Vampire II.

Rosario + Vampire II being a Shounen, Supernatural, Harem manga, with a bit of Comedy & Action thrown in for good measure. Although this is technically a sequel, R+V II feels more like a reboot, as it re-introduces the characters and ... setting from the ground up. Making it fairly accessible to those who have yet to read its prequel. Even if that means having to rehash various moments of character development or plot elements from R+V (especially regarding Tsukune). But now it is set during their 2nd year in the Monster Academy, a couple months after the madness during the school fair and begins with the male protagonist getting right into the usual comedic-mishaps with his harem. Nevertheless the mangaka has learnt some lessons from his previous outing, as the whole "monster of the week" angle has been scrapped completely for a more character-driven tale. With the tales ranging from the 2 chapter outings, to some fairly lengthy arcs that shape the rest of the story.

This means that the characters end up a whole lot more fleshed out, from being given their own chapters to shine; whether that is in combat, or just some character-building. Yes that includes even the likes of: Kurumu, Mizore, Yukari and Ruby; making them all worthy members of Team Tsukune. Of course Moka, being the "best girl" gets a whole volume of back-story to herself. As for Tsukune, he continues to progress from the badass he eventually became towards the end of the prequel, which is all fine and dandy. Yet there were some missed opportunities where the mangaka could have taken things further with Tsukune's relationships with the girls, if only he wasn't too afraid to stray from the status quo.

Now I remember reading R+V and witnessing a mangaka go from several panels of mediocre scribbles, to artwork that's beyond what you'd expect in a harem. Now I have to say the artwork in R+V II is superior to its predecessor, simply because the mangaka had already found his own style to settle on and so there was no need for him to improve that much upon it. So the pages contain characters with a superb level of detail put into their facial expressions, fully fleshed out vistas and some rather elaborate monster transformation designs. Though be warned, as towards the end things do get Gantz-level gory once the story intensifies.

In the end R+V II helped remind me that a harem manga can be very entertaining, by not even being much about the harem in question but by just being an enjoyable & rather compelling to read (even if that means turning it into a shounen battle manga). Although this manga has its fair share of flaws, like the usage of the "shounen power-up trope", there's just so much to like about it. I like how it feels when the mangaka takes a step back to assess the various relationships; whether in a jokey manner (like in Ch.23), or a more serious manner (like in Ch.17). I like the contrast in the artistic style and quality between the comedy and action. But most of all I like how this is a harem with a solid plot and a well-developed plot at that. I just wish it ended better, but that seems to be the wish I have with most manga & anime out there.

I love that Rosario+Vampire gets progressively darker as the series goes on. While the first couple of books were just a generic harem comedy (but with monsters!!! omg), by the end of season I it was clear there was far more potential here than probably even the author initially thought.

Story: 7
Season II opens with the usual R+V harem hijinks, then gradually introduces some fun and interesting new characters. Not long into the story, the new main villain(s) begins to move into the picture. Akihisa Ikeda is continually experimenting with all different subject matter this time around; everything from class struggles to abandoned ... children. None of these are discussed to any great extent, but they're still there, and it's better to not go all the way than go too far and seem like you're talking down to your audience. The story was never really the selling point of Rosario+Vampire, anyway, so it does its job more than well enough.

Art: 8
I've always been a fan of Ikeda's art style, with his excellent balance of detailed linework, inspired monster designs, and of course, cute girls. The characters are instantly recognizable, and you would remember them if he decided to cut them out of the story and bring them back years later. His one fatal flaw is the under-drawings: the base models that just get drawn over with hair, clothes, etc. If an artist skimps out on these, then the final product, no matter how well-rendered, will always appear slightly off to a wary eye. When he gets it right, however, everything clicks are the results are fantastic. At the time of this writing, 35 chapters have been released, and some of the battles thus far have been mind-blowing. Not Berserk-level mind-blowing, mind you, but still pretty darn impressive.

Characters: 7
As stated before, the artist certainly knows how to design visually appealing characters. Whether they can match that appeal with their level of depth is another matter. Tsukune continues to be an incessantly nice guy, which is nice, but not particularly interesting. Outer Moka is thankfully being given more personality, and slowly becoming a character that actually deserves to be the lead heroine. A common criticism of the series is Inner Moka is often eschewed in favor of Outer Moka, though this finally seems to be balancing out as the vampire culture is explored. Kurumu and Yukari roughly keep their same level of importance as they have in the past, and fans of Mizore might be a bit disappointed, as she is pushed to the background again, save for one major arc solely dedicated to her. Just like the first season, those given the most thought are the villains and the characters that are only present for one arc and then are never mentioned again. Though to be fair, this is often the case with every piece of writing, and not just Rosario+Vampire.

Enjoyment: 9
With a series like this, enjoyment is what it really comes down to, and R+V does not disappoint. This is one of the most consistently entertaining manga out right now, and the month-long wait between chapters can be quite painful at times. The fight scenes are well-thought out, and hot girls fighting monsters is always cool. Ikeda also seems to have taken some pointers from the anime, because the fanservice is also better (they even have nipples every once in a while \o/ ). It's rarely distracting, though; unlike the anime, he knows better than to throw in a pantyshot at the scene's most dramatic point. Did I mention how wonderful it is there are even legitimately dramatic parts in the first place? Because that's a good thing. Certainly one that makes it more enjoyable.

Overall: 8
Despite its shortcomings, R+V Season II is still an incredibly fun manga, and a large improvement over Season I. Everything is better; the story, the art, the characters, the fanservice. It's a stretch to call it great, but it's definitely very good.

With each of the girls trying to get Tsukune to be there's with inner Moka (Her Vampire half) getting in the way of Tsukune trying to be with the other Moka. When I was reading this manga I have ended up feeling that I was reading a story written by an elementary school child.

The story is totally incoherent, nothing have sense and it is way too unrealistic. Not because there is a lot of fantasy, that is totally fine, but because the rules of the world described by the author are constantly changing.

This is the perfect example of the story that has been written without any planning and that have ended turning into a set of sensational incidents just for trying to keep his audience.

Art is great
Characters develop well and develop over the course of the manga, but they seem to have a fairly cliche personality about each one. It is still very enjoyable to watch the different interactions between them and how their relationships affect Tsukune
The Story was solid at the end, but felt weak in the beginning where the gang stumbles upon a bunch of individual events in what seems like complete randomness, but then its all pulled back together. That much does not seem very strong, but the plot definitely thickens in the remaining twenty chapters as it nears its climax.

Booooring choice by me, right? I'd defend this manga with tooth and nail: You can always find something objectionable in a story or piece of art, the point of an overall 10/10 grade is to argue that those failings *don't matter*.

Certainly, the story meanders a bit in the beginning (if only to set the scene and flesh out the characters), but nothing about the story stumbles or makes little sense: every chapter flows logically and accomplishes what it was set out to do. Maybe you don't particularly prefer the subject character or the corny lesson at hand, but this comes with the territory of storytelling. ... Maybe the fights end too quickly, or are schizophrenic in how quickly the tides of battle turn - I've come to accept the predictable + unpredictable aspects of manga, and so... I suggest you remember your favorite manga and how problematic or predictable *its* fights can be.

The story is weak on one aspect: the ending. As effective as the plot is, with an impressive coda going into the last arc, it still feels "too soon". It's an amazing final arc - but did it have to be the "final arc"? No. No no no. Not in the slightest. In fact, reading the first 20 chapters, you can't help as though the story was unceremoniously sped up, resulting in this grand, logical, yet deliberately-quick ending.

The epilogue is amazing... but it commits the biggest sin in media: leaving you wanting more. I'm no longer a child in a bed, satisfied with "that's a story for another time." If you're going to tease me and tantalize me with so much possibility, I'm going to close the book upset and... for lack of a better word, blue-balled.

The characters are amazing? I do understand that some of them don't hold up under scrutiny, because I ended up wanting more from them. Ruby in particular had a lot more to contribute...

...but is it enough to deduct points? If anything, it highlights how every character almost begs for more pages and opportunities to grow and evolve. Even the two major characters, Moka and Tsukune, through all of their changes and tribulations, remain compelling protagonists with compelling futures... even after all of these pages, you still want to see more between the two of them.... something that the epilogue can only tease us with.

You're allowed to not like this manga, mind you. I give this manga a 10 in enjoyment because it's story and focus appeal to me: people maturing and facing an uncertain future. People struggling with what they wish to become in life, what they must sacrifice to hold onto their dreams and idealism. It's a romance at the core, but the humor reminds us to not be so melodramatic.

Melodramatic... You could argue it's schizophrenic in how it switches tones from absolute horror to absolute comedy, how it threatens death only for the sheer luck to save the day. It's almost a stylistic signature of Ikeda's. But by capturing two ends of the spectrum, the creator and this story is able to explore the nuances and entire scope of what stories can be, from despairing to triumphant to back again. Almost as fickle as luck is in the real world - and to see our beloved characters hang on and react to this rollercoaster of hope and hopelessness is uniquely done, and stands apart from a lot of mangas.

Why, yes. I still dream of a sequel, to this day. The material, the potential, is definitely there. The IP of Rosario Vampire barely sets foot outside of its little neighborhood, and when it does, it's almost always to great benefit to the story. With so many dimensions and magical places to discover, it was tragic to only get a peak through a crack in the door. Show me Yukari's hometown, with brooms flying everywhere. Let them become exchange students and visit a monster-school in the heart of a haunted German forest. Show me Succubi and Incubi, print the entire monster dictionary!

So many directions, so much fertile ground for storytelling. Alas...

The story of Moka and Tsukune definitely continues on in my heart... but someday, I hope to see it in print.

The story was Great it wasn't perfect it had it's flaw but it did well to deliver the plot but I always feel like Tsukune is actually immortal and he just comes back to life every time he dies. It has its fair share of hilarious moments but the author blends the serious moments excellently I probably shouldn't go anymore since it would be a bunch
of spoilers.

The art at the start seems really old school but it improves a lot I mean Tsukune's hair has more detail and is also smoother instead of being spiky i prefer that a lot then more then before ...

Story & Characters:
There is a stark contrast between the plot of Season 1 compared to Season 2. This does not AT ALL mean Season 1 was not enjoyable, however, the sense of continuity and character development present in Season 2 is nothing short of amazing. The way new characters get introduced and old characters get improved upon is a thing of art.

The only shortcoming of the story is its length. 67 chapters seems like a lot on paper, however, once you start reading the last 30 chapters the length decreases severely. On top ...

Hey guys this is my first time writing a review for anything on this site so I'm going to try to be brief, but as detailed as I can be. Also I'm doing this review for both seasons of the manga. I will do my best to avoid any spoilers.

Story - 10
Throughout the series starting at the first book of season 1 to the final ending in the last book of season 2 I found the story to be very solid and very well written. I there are times of calm and times of action. The story has its times where it is very sad ... and then there is always a good recovery with some happiness and excitement. I could hardly put this series down once I started read at the start. The ending is satisfying and the overall story of the manga is so much better done than the anime's story. Just for the story alone I would highly recommend the manga over the anime if you had to choose. They are both great in their own rights, but the manga doesn't feel as rushed and random.

Art - 9
The art for the manga is quite incredible to say the least throughout the entire story. At times there are points where some of the drawn images and scenes are a bit confusing and some of the shading seemed off, but I'm not a manga artist so this is just coming from my unprofessional opinion. The art truly did stand out to me and kept me with the story being told and it does a great job holding its own with the art of the many amazing manga out there.

Characters - 10
The characters of Rosario + Vampire were some of the greatest creations that I have gotten the pleasure to get to know while reading this series. The main characters of the series are strong and they hold their own extremely well throughout the series and they all continue to grow and develop as the story goes on. Each have their own flaws, but I feel that is what makes each of them great. The side characters are all extremely well made as well. Each of them make a strong difference in the story whenever they show up and there is always a noticeable difference when they are not around. The second season of the series introduced a ton of new characters to the story and in my opinion each of them were pretty amazing. The supporting characters never completely out shined the main characters in the story, but as I had written before they did always make a strong difference when they were around.

Enjoyment - 10
It's hard for me to describe my enjoyment of this series in words, but to put it quickly I loved it completely from beginning to end.

Overall - 10
Yes I know that I gave the art a 9, but I truly feel that the rest makes up for it to be a 10. I would recommend this manga series to honestly anyone who wants to experience an incredible story from start to finish, beautiful art, unforgettable characters, potential for unending enjoyment, and just completely outstanding overall. Thank you for reading my review I hope you enjoy this series as much as I did.

Imagine a 13 year old boy in 2011, who just started to watch anime.
I was fascinated by the anime. I watched it multiple times and somehow just loved this whole setting.
A few years later, i realized how bad the anime really was, but still couldn´t hate it, because it was so nostalgic.
I then read on a forum, that the manga was much better than the anime, but still wasn´t into reading it, because I don´t like Harem that much.

Now, 9 years after watching the anime for the first time, I finally got myself to reading it.
And wow.
I am flashed.

Comparing it to its predecessor , R+V Season I , this series has far much more to offer that would leave the readers drooling for more of this series as it took a far more serious approach than it did in the first season.

Story : 8/10

A human being friends with monsters is not an original plot in any sense and I could probably hand pick out several other titles with almost the same plot lines with ease but that was in the first season where everything had started. This second season's storyline is pretty generic at the start where Tsukune and his harem continues their ... daily lives in school until the series took a darker approach to the story by introducing Fairy Tale which is not to be confused with Fairy Tail(manga). The readers are given more back stories of the main characters , notably Mizore and Moka as the story got even darker and darker. It evolved from a comedy-romance-slapstick kind of series into a very serious one once Moka's rosario seal broke and had to be repaired and ever since then , the series had sky rocketed up in my chart because the writing had been splendid all the way since then.

Also , one could possibly see what life lessons the author is trying to imply through some of the arcs such as Moka's stepmother which had been introduced this season that ' Jealousy Kills ' and the sorts. Compared to Season 1 , this series' storyline could easily put it to shame.

Art : 10/10

I would very rarely give full marks for this section but the art in the series is extremely beautiful and well drawn. One could easily see that the author's drawings had transcended itself ever since the start of season one as each character are drawn majestically and low-quality drawings are very sparse. Emotions are well-conveyed through the character's facial expressions and one could easily discern what is happening with the neat drawings unlike some mangas where you would have no idea what that panel is for. This is definitely the most well drawn manga if not second , that I have ever seen as it's definitely comparable to the likes of Bleach and Gantz. No , scratch that. It's definitely better than Bleach in terms of art.

Character : 8/10

There are even more characters introduced in this season and most of the characters are given a back story which also includes the main cast as well as we get a lot more development on Tsukune's romantic interests. Also , the series also reuses some of its old characters back from season 1 which is the problem that some manga face whereby they completely about their own characters after a long span of time and it was definitely heart warming to see Sun-sempai again. We also do see the characters bond closer and closer to each other especially with Kurumu and Tsukune along with Tsukune and Moka.

Enjoyment : 8/10

Although with all the praise , this series had been a thrill of a ride. It's a roller-coaster with its highs and lows. With the addition of the Dark Lords, more powers are introduced and I would have to proclaim this : Mugen Jigentou is badass as fuck. At least compared to DBZ-type of powers , I would definitely prefer it as it's definitely cooler than just explosions in my book. Originality and doing something new is definitely one of the things that would score high in my book and the powers is definitely one that had me going.

However , I do have to lament on some of the things which sadly dropped the score from a perfect 10 to a 8. One of such things was Moka's death. I believed that was the most hyped up scene in the entire series and honestly , my heart was pounding so badly that I craved for the next chapter that would be released next month. All of the scenes were beautifully drawn and their kiss was definitely the exceptionally beautiful one and the next chapter was also as good with Tsukune breaking off his holy seal just to inject blood to save Moka. At that point , my crave for the next chapter was so high that all I did each day was to check whether there were any updates , and I was not the only one. R+V forums were flooded and all of my friends whom followed the series was also suffering the same syndrome that I had , but then came the downfall.

Don't get me wrong but I would preferred it if Moka had died. Even if she were to be revived , it was okay with me so long that Tsukune went berserk or died in her place at the very least because the climax was so well done in both chapters that would leave the fans hanging for more but the next chapter killed all of the excitement and hype that it had successfully built up because of a convenient power up which I shall refer to Fairy Tail's (yes , I'm talking about Hiiro Mashima's manga) plot *coughcough* , I meant nakama armour.

Literally the chapter was about all of Tsukune friends joining hands and 'conveying' instructions about how to control the Shinso power so that Tsukune and Moka could power up in time to kill Alucard. I was like ' wat ' throughout the entire chapter. How would they know how to control the Shinso's blood inside their body? This is what I'd call by a convenient plothole which is big enough to render a near perfect series to 'meh'. And both of them 'revived' and literally One-Punch Manned Alucard , the supposed strongest vampire in history. Sorry , that just killed the series for me but I would still give it an 8 for all the chapters before that and especially the two build up chapters.

Overall : 7/10

Its really sad to give this piece of a masterpiece such a low grade when it deserved better but it had to be done with the asspull done with the previous 2 chapters. But still , I would recommend this series for those who have not started but you would probably be as disappointed as I was by the two asspull chapters.

I give this manga straight tens. You know why? Because it's the best damn Manga I've ever read. It's so well written and the characters have so much depth to them. Of course, there is the occasional bit of fan service, but, in my opinion at least, it's purely for comedic purposes, for Tsukune acts in a very humorous manner when in those situations. I have read and re-read all available chapters multiple times - it's that good. Anyway, This series is damn near perfect: The right blend of action, romance, comedy, and character development.

Now at first the series starts rather bland and boring and i'm talking like back in season 1. At first i was like, What is this? But as the plot gradually changed I saw the characters develop, And every 28 days i try to find the next chapter BECAUSE I JUST CANT WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT ONE. Its truely incredible because this manga has soooo much potential, As for Tsukunes "transformations" they will leave you wondering whats going to happen. This is an ABSOLUTE-MUST-READ.

Rosario Vampire has been one of the greatest series in my opinion.Compared to the anime,this is one of the best storylines I ever read.The characters are well developed and the action is well structured.
I can't say the same thing to the anime.The anime is focused on the harem part and many things are continuously repeating.
The manga is full of funny moments,scary moments,drama and plot.It makes you realize many things about life and after many years you will want to read it with the same pleasure.
For me,Rosario+Vampire manga is a must-read!
