Both manga are mostly episodic and are about someone choosing whether to take revenge on someone they hate or not.

Gods of death. Revenge.

Both feature a very similar drawing style, have basically the same mysterious-beautiful-wish-granting-main character, the chapters are mostly One-Shots - even though both decided to add story-elements for their charcters later in the series - and there are some storys both Manga did. Also both deal with the idea of wishes and vengeance of teens, even though Jigoku Shoujo focuses more on consequences of actions whereas Shokora looks more at intentions.

both have a creepy af, female lead and both share a procedural format into telling stories.

Both have gothic aesthetics to it and reserved female leads with a vengeful side to them and of course giving the bad guys what they deserve too.

Both spooky protags judging people

Both stories have some pretty twisted poetic mindgames to the “victims” as they are facing karma so to speak as well as having an outcast in the leading role taking on dual identities though in this case the dark side identity is all the character has left of themselves due to certain cirmcstances. The shadow realm in this case would be hell itself lol

Both mangas have some pretty intense psychological and horror elements to it as well as focusing on a female lead that was outcasted by their peers due to events that were beyond their control and also lots of really nasty narcissistic backstabbing characters too that eventually get whats coming to them.

Both include dark themes and gore

Both of these stories focus around people getting their revenge. While Uramiya Honpo is quite a bit darker and more realistic than Jigoku Shoujo, the idea of "justice" and "revenge" rings through in both series.

Both dark and set up as a series of horror stories in which the main character saves those who are good from evil spirits (Dark Metro) or escorts those who commit evil are escorted to hell (Jigoku Shoujo). Dark Metro has twisted stories with really spooky and gory art work, while Jigoku Shoujo focuses on human interactions instead of evil spirits. Both very suspenseful and dark. I recommend reading by flashlight.

Both Stories have a a lot to do with Death

Both stories have similar auras of mystery and death. In the beginning there are few separated stories and later they let us get to know the circumstances of people working for the site (JS) or the inn (UY). Both manga have complicated, quiet girl a as a heroine and bunch of people working with her and dealing with supernatural business. They both wear classical japanese clothes (yukata) and seem to be of another realm.
