Let's see... -- An endless series of 'play or die' games, where survivors from each game must continue to work together. -- The enemies in both are aliens... until the aliens start being dicks and make humans fight it out. There's no text-sharing black sphere in Kamisama but the aliens themselves tend to be quite chatty, with the same sort of twisted humour. -- Almost anyone can die. Getting attached to characters is a bad idea (until Kurono appears in Kamisama with his 100-points, anyhow). -- No attempt is made to explain why, exactly, people are finding themselves forced to go at it with weird as hell enemies (Gantz  read more

How good are you at playing shooter games online? Good! And what about playing them in real life? Maybe! After all, I'm good online! What if a young person with no actual combat experience whatsoever was casually dumped into a battle game setting with a unique type of weapon, like in Btooom!? Or an assortment of gory versions of popular traditional games with no means of protection at all, like in Kamisama no Iutoori? And there will be all sorts of people suffering - or enjoying - the same thing. Can they be trusted or teamed up with, and when will the game end? There is no  read more

Students forced in parcipitating in supernatural survival games. While Enigma reads itself like a typical shounen KnI shows a tendency towards the seinen genre.

The beginning of the first chapter was practically identical to Kamisama no Iutoori in regards to the school setting and the main character feeling the boredom of life and hoping for something exciting.....and then the teacher explodes and almost everyone in the classroom follow the same fate. However, it doesn't have that zombie aspect and end of the world apocalypse feeling to it that M.S.o.t.E does. Another point of similarity is that they don't camouflage the blood. The story had a lot in common after I read the first chapter, but the differing drawing styles has an effect on my perception of the seriousness of  read more

Similar psychological/survival concept in a high school setting. If you like one, you'll like the other.

What these two manga have in common is: 1. The survival factor. a. Both main characters are trapped in crazy situations that they didn’t ask for nor had they ever imagined. b. Their lives are continuously at stake. c. At both stories there is someone superior (with powers or authority ) who decides all those murderous insane games and fights and who treats people just as pawns or puppets. 2. The growth and development of the main character through the story. 3. The main characters of these two stories are very similar to each other a. They both lived in their peaceful and monotonous lives, but than everything  read more

May the hunt begin! A signed contract in La Mosca forces you to work on an abomination-infested island with a corrupt leader. In Kamisama no Iutoori, the misfortune of being a student binds you to participate in an unending series of supernatural survival games. In order to survive, the protagonists can accomplish their goals on their own or put their trust into others, working together, in the hopes of staying alive and putting an end to their struggles. These worlds will focus on how... well that goes.

Either you play according to the rules, or you're maimed or worse. And if you lose, you're probably dead. It is vital to trust your partner, but can you really just trust anybody? You will have to decide, but fast! While Torikago gives you a comrade and links you two with a chain, Kamisama will blindly toss death at you in a smorgasbord of game types. But you won't be safe, either way, so rest assured.

They are shocking and thrilling horror stories.

In both the charactares have to constantly struggle for survival. The origin of the threat is a mistery. SnK is more of a battle manga, KnI a survival game. Although labeled as shounen, they sometimes fit better in the seinen genre (like quite a few series in Bessatsu Shounen Magazine). Both are amazing reads and feel similar.

Blood! Slaughter! Survival! In both manga the students are forced to participate in many life or death trials by a so called God. The god in both stories are mysterious and all powerful and are kind of interested in the main characters. Both main characters has his own unique strength that helps him get through the trials. The trials in both stories are well thought out and exciting.

Although the history is kind of different we notice that in both cases the main character are forced to fight for their life and using any means for it. Another similarity is the way that the drawing is exposed; with violence in an adequate quantity

Both of these are about a group of students that get suddenly forced to participate in a weird game that has deadly consequence if lost. Of course, most of the characters don't take it seriously at first, which has consequences.
