Both manga have a main girl character who is energetic and funny. They also both feature a trouble making boy in the class who initially hates the main girl. They both revolve around school and have their comedy along with dramatic moments.

as i read the first few chapter of GA, it does resembles Kodocha in some ways except for the ALice or powers of course, the main Guy on both series have this absurd & cold personality & loves to tease the main heroine at first, but later, the main heroine is the one who becomes the reason why they change for good.
&& also its kinda cute to see a kid's pure LOVE <3 isn't it? :)

Expect a nice blend of comedy, drama, and romance from these two stories.

Character-wise: The main characters are quite similar-->
Both girls first did not like the trouble-making guy (basically because they could control their monkey classroom with just a cold demeanor), so they stand up and eventually try to bring happiness to them. These guys start falling in love with her compassion and doing what they can to protect her. (Moreso for Kodomo than Gakuen Alice, probably because G.A. focuses on more supporting characters)

A wonderful girl with a blossoming young love from a boy in the class... Smell the moe-flowers blooming in the air, right? WRONG.

Not only do their relationships face amazing drama/tragedy (away from the cute-cute-moe-young-child relationship that was first expected) , but their plots altogether move away from the "same old, same old" story into an awe-inspiring manga.

You will laugh, you will cry, and you follow their road seeing what is right & wrong in the world. These characters may appear like cute children, which they look like for the most part, but they also face an difficult path of action and/or reality.

Both are these mangas are fully recommended, as they are wonderful stories that would just pull you in. [Although I pointed out the similarities plot-wise, their stories are VERY different & highly original] read more

The main characters are really similar Mikan and Sana Akito and Nastume Ruca and Tsunayoshi (sorta) and then they have a bunch of crazy classmates also there is more than meets the eye for both of the mangas and they interestingly develop as it goes on I LOVE BOTH OF THEM

the mangas are just sooo similar..
Sana/Mikan-The cheerfulness, both dont have real parents,both helped a  boy,then fall in love in the boy...
Akito/Natsume-both of them were bad in the beginning,because of their pasts,but they were healed from a girls,then fall in love
Luka/Nao-well nao is not akitos best friend like luka and natsume,but they both give up on their love for the other boys and always support the girls
Iinchou/tsuyoshi-err..the glasses xD, i don't know but they are really similar
etc etc all the romance,comedy,drama,tears everything is so similar and awesome I fell inlove in both mangas

The main girls are almost exactly the same, except one has magic powers and the other one has acting skills. Natsume and Akito are both cold with dark pasts but get influenced by the main girl, and fall in love with her. Akito shows more feeling than Natsume does, but both are about as sweet on the inside.
Both series start off in the same way, with a girl who is in a rowdy class but then she challenges the leader and defeats him. The girl starts off with a really bad impression of him, but that changes when she learns more about him.
Both have love triangles between the main girl, a cold guy (Akito/Natsume), and a nice guy (Luka/Naozumi), but it's obvious who she's going to end up with.
Both series are about kids in the same age group, and have the similar theme of "adults are just humans and therefore are not always right".
Gakuen Alice is fantasy while Kodocha is slice of life. read more

"Middleschool" setting. An over the top female MC and an seemingly laid back male MC with a crushing backstory, who has a tendancy to bully the female MC (but can be very caring and supporting when needed).
Hate turned to love relationship.
Lighthearted series with a dark touch.
(Comedy, Shoujo, School, Romance, Drama)

Both main characters have PIGTAILS. (but the hairstyle changes XD) Both female and male main characters have EXTREMELY similar personalities. Both started off fluffy but gets dark later on. Both have romance, although, Kodomo no Omocha focuses, just a tiny bit more, on romance than with Gakuen Alice. AND BOTH ARE AMAZING.

Marmalade Boy and Kodomo no Omocha were both being published in Japan around the same time and being serialized in the same magazine (Ribon). They're both shojo manga though the plots are a little different. Even if they have a different plot, you should still give both of these manga a try.

If you liked one you will probably enjoy the other as the characters and relationship structures are very similar. NnKgKS is basically KnO but with cats, and the relationship between the two main characters is slightly less direct since the main girl doesn't know what the main guy looks like. Also, NnKgKS has a much more upbeat tone overall, while KnO gives much more drama and substantial plot devices. Overall though, both are very enjoyable, funny and cute. Worthwhile reads.

While reading Rockin' Heaven, it reminded me of a High-School version of Kodocha without the whole idol thing.

There is a popular boy, that is idolized by all the guys in the classroom  and likes to terrorize the teacher. Enter the girl who just wants a normal High School life. 

Definitely a page turner. If you like one, you will definitely love the other!

Cat Street addpermalink

Showbiz, but not in the fight-to-reach-the-top way that seems to be the norm! Sana of Kodomo no Omocha is a child star, and Keito of Cat Street was once one, but no longer. Here, movies and theatre play important roles without being the centre of the plots, and the character relationships and drama are enhanced, but never overshadowed, by this unique context.

Kodomo no Omocha is thought of as a goofy series and Cat Street a more dramatic one, but as a matter of fact, the former has quite a few very dark moments and the latter is often lighthearted.

Similar heroines -- enthusiastic and silly -- fight to change the structure of power among students in their respective schools. Each story is overall lighthearted and cutesy shoujo, but there are elements of very dark themes, particularly in the male leads' pasts.

Plot and story-wise, there are not many similarities. However, the two main heroines are similar in that they are both very pure hearted, and try to do their best no matter the situation. The biggest similarity however, is the artwork. Noriko and Sana look so much alike. I double checked just to make sure that it wasn't the same mangaka.

While these two mangas have characters with very different ages (Kodomo is elementary and middle school while Hana Yori Dango is high school) The dynamic is similar; A bad boy who is misunderstood and the strong-willed girl that creates a change in them. 
This is not a shoujo of giggling awkward moments, like nervousness about holding hands or kisses, but more about the serious and adult-like situations that the characters go through together. Situations quickly turn life-threatening and will pull the reader from laughing to tears. 
Hana Yori Dango had underlining themes of class separation and money while Kodomo no Omocha focused on problems in families and a psychological reasoning behind a person's problems and stigmas. 
Both wonderful stories! If you're interested, Hana Yori Dango is really long with over 100 chapters while Kodomo no Omocha is just 50, but both have anime versions and Hana Yori Dango even has a live-action one on Hulu! read more

Characters are the same. The guy is both bad boys, and the girl is there to help the guy find their way to happiness. The main character girls are also hyper. Both really popular guys, all girls love. I really recommend it, its really a good manga!

 the art style and characters. Natsume and Miku's dynamic really reminded me of kodocha. The art did too lol. Something about the eyes and facial expressions really reminded me of it. There's a similar tone to the series as well. Kodocha is a little more crazy and energetic then crazy girl but both have their zany silly moments. Natsume and Miku really play off eachother in the same way Akito and Sana did, especially early on. There's a level of animosity, as well as magnetism between both couples.

The main characters--Sana and Seara--give off the same vibe. They are both strong-willed, determined, funny, and constantly optimistic main characters. The art is similar as well. If you like one, you'll probably like the other.

I liked reading kodocha :3 although the age gap of kodomo no omocha to Kiss x Miss is really far, the story is quite similar.

The main character, sana, starts off hating Akito. But a few incidents (like when akito saves/protects sana) occur she starts developing feelings for him and in the end they become an item.

Akito is also quite similar to makita :D

i don't wanna spoil but trust me. the plot may not be super alike but the characters and the situations they are put in ARE :) And plus if you liked reading this and felt that it was a bit short (cause i super wanted more bickering before they finally confessed they're love) then kodocha is the one for you ;) read more

Similiarites: 

A energetic, cheerful, naive and yet mature heroine surrounded by people that care for and protect her.

There is a notable age difference between some of the characters that is less prominent as the story progresses.

There is romance! ^-^

Both manga's have a seemingly innocent story line that turns out to include elements of slice of life.  

A plot that keeps you interested and wondering what's going to happen next!

Differences:

Kodomo no Omocha is a shorter manga. 

In Kodomo no Omocha, the main characters are younger.

The story line of Kodomo no Omocha is similar but a little  more lighthearted.

The life of a cafe worker compared to the life of a movie star.

The characters in Shiawase Kissa Sanchoume are more unique and have unusual quirks and lovable personalities. read more

Tears of a Lamb reminded me of Kodocha as I was reading it, although Kodocha in in elementary and Tears of a Lamb is in high school. Both have an energetic and kind of silly girl with pigtails who bothers a guy until they become friends. The guy comes across as scary to everybody, but the guys in the class idolize him. As the guy gets to know the girl better, he realizes that she isn't what she seems, and becomes curious as to her past, which she reveals to him over time. He falls in love with her, but she's kind of oblivious. Meanwhile, he has his own problems to deal with.
The romance in Tears of a Lamb is a bit slower than in Kodocha, I think, but both are pretty sweet. read more

These two are very different. However it takes me A LOT  to just look at my manga lust and temper what all the mantas I've read we're even about....but these two are one di could never forget. The main character girl was not your typical whiny boring cliche girl.she was tough and funny and made you curious about what was gonna happen. Of course don't forget they are girls,so they did have their weak spots. Anyway, kodocha is much longer.

Kodomo no Omocha, also known as Kodocha, is the more polished, mature version of School Rumble. Wherever School Rumble failed (ex: ending, lame mangaka jokes), Kodocha picked up and illustrated it in a new way. It's a must read for anyone who felt very disappointed after completing School Rumble.

Can't believe this wasn't recommended! Yep, the main couples remind me of each other a lot. Sana and Sakura - the hyper, constantly cheery main female. Hayama and Syaoran (don't they look alike?) - the serious guys who tend not to show too much emotion, but do display a soft side occasionally. Both have that intense "soulmates" feeling going on, also with a bit of a love-hate relationship at first, and a certain very important event that happens towards the end of Kodocha is also significant in CCS...

As I scrolled down the ro commendations page I looked for the link to go back the manga mars. It surprised why I did this becuase these two series are VERY different. But thinking back the funny twist and turns of kodocha reminded me the more realistic sadder mars. Both series are pretty long.

Somehow i feel its similar to this. The kids in kodocha sana and akito go thru ALOT more things before they are together.Its start with them being eniemies, unrequited love, then dating others even though they love each other. they end up together though.that reall all thats th same. Kodocha is a comedy,drama and romance manga too but i read kodocha first and i think you'd like it if you like max romance even though its much longer.

The stories are different, but we have the similar plot line of the heroine attempting to understand the 'anti-social bad boy' of the class. And romance / mutual friendship slowly begins to occur. Although Kodocha is much longer and more thorough while Nine Puzzle is like your quick fix.

Kodocha focuses more on romance and comedy, and Ashita no Ousama shows more of the details of the acting world, but both series are about strong female characters pursuing careers in show business.  They're both well-written stories, cute but with enough emotional depth to keep them from being fluff.

kodomo no omocha or kodocha is vwry long with 10 volumes and 102 episodes for the anime.But basically it has the girl sana softening the heart of the boy. But sana takes alot longer to get with akito.But it is serious in some parts and light in others and also has alot of comedy i read it before this so i just hope you like it.
