Synopsis

Tanaka is a high school student who believes that scary girls are actually cute. He secretly wants to become friends with Mizuno-san, a delinquent who sits next to him. She has a "nasty look," creating rumors about her and making her feared by her classmates! At first, she shuns Tanaka, but gradually, she opens up to his fierce attacks. Tanaka plans to make her fit in with their class, but on the day of the school festival, a big incident breaks out.

This is my first ever review on MAL, and there is a really good reason for that.  Reason being that this one hits very close to home.   Memories of someone taller than me with dischoveleved hair and nasty demeanor ominously staring at me while laying on her desk flooded back into my head as I read this manga.   That girl too was misunderstood and treated with hostility by everyone, was insulted and called names and was attached to some false rumor or another on a weekly basis.  But I knew better (except the one where ...

First off, let me just remind everyone that this is a romcom. Now, I'm a bit of a sucker for rom-coms, which is why my rating is probably a point higher than it should be. With that said, let me talk a bit about Metsuki here.

One of the first things you'll notice about this manga is the art-style. While at first it was a bit unsettling, it actually grew on me really quickly. It lacks the technical skill of something like Yofukashi no Uta, but it is still very charming in its own way. It also improves rapidly as the chapters go on.
