Synopsis

Already at his wit's end, 29-year-old corporate slave Seiichirou Kondou suddenly witnesses the ground opening up and swallowing a woman. Amid his efforts to save her, the two are transported to another world. He soon learns that the people in this world summoned a saint to save their kingdom from a plague. As compensation for dragging Kondou into the mess, the kingdom assures him that they will provide him with a comfortable life and fulfill any of his desires. To everyone's surprise, Kondou asks for a job.

After successfully becoming an accountant at the Royal Palace, Kondou devotes himself to his new post. His accurate and thorough work catches the attention of various high-ranking officials and knights, especially Aresh Indolark, the cold-hearted Knight Captain. As Kondou adjusts to his new exhausting and dangerous environment, he begins to find solace in the company of Aresh, whose icy demeanor may be just a facade.

I confess that the isekai genre is not one of my favorites, even in the BL, but this story caught me from the beginning with its great development of both the world and its characters.

Below I will list some of the factors that make me consider this one of the best BL sleeves I’ve read:

1) The protagonist is not a teenager, but a subject of working age, that is refreshing in itself.

2) The plot does not focus solely on romance, nor does it set it aside to the point where it makes you wonder if they will get anywhere. In fact political and financial affairs ...

I could wax poetic about this series forever.

I would have already bought into this with the sheer premise of "saving the [fantasy isekai] world through accounting]", because that rules. But there are Layers to this narrative, including some incredibly thoughtful and well-executed explorations of Japanese work culture and health.

This is a BL, but the romance often takes a backseat to the politics and social commentary. I'd say if you're a fan of period drama/office drama politics & court drama mystery you will get more out of this then someone just looking for a generic BL. (The romance definitely starts becoming more important ~10 chapters in, ...

Ok, kinda informal review, but I just had to say that THIS SERIES IS GREAT. Not only is the concept so refreshing for a BL (isekai where the MC is a corporate slave—and yes it's a BL!), but it's actually executed so well!

Why you should read:
- Has ACTUAL PLOT! Plot that's unique and refreshing! MC is a corporate slave accidentally transported to a fantasy world where he becomes an accountant for the royal government. because he's a workaholic and actually does his job, he helps whip the finances of the govt back into shape and catches the attention of higher ups, including hot army ...
