Mysteries are an interesting genre. Instead of keeping you happy the whole way through the telling, there's a firm barrier set in place: there is the confusing, vexing beginning, and the (hopefully) satisfying and enlightening ending. Higurashi is a keen example of this, to such an extent that there are entire arcs that end with no explanation whatsoever, and hence are not very enjoyable. The tradeoff to this is that when you finally get to the arcs that answer your questions, you get some immense satisfaction. The perfect higurashi arc. Everything about it is so well done. the characters and the story was absolutely amazing. i love how they made keiichi and renas character in this chapter, it definitely gave them a lot of depth. it also nailed everything higurashi is about perfectly. Trust, Mystery, and Friendship. A great ending as well. The art is definitely also some of the best art the series has to offer yet. My only issue with this arc is how it serves more questions rather than answers.
Overall, the perfect higurashi arc. It could be better if it served more answers though. 9.5/10 |
