Almost non-stop action with numerous cast of characters fighting mostly 1on1 duels. Majority of the manga is one huge tournament.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you took the absurdly muscular character design from Baki and used it for a romcom storyline? Well wonder no more.

Both are martial arts series with surrealism, building your strength, and filled with tournaments...

Holy shit why has no one noticed the similarities yet. I guess this is more present in last order but alita is literally the futuristic version of baki. In gunnm there are tons of tournaments and fights are always explained in detail. Just like baki which is centres around the same thing. Also both mangas go in depth with ‘fight science’ during battles, techniques are explained in detail and how it effects the body how it is performed etc. Most of the dialogue is also incredibly similar to baki, they usually hype up the fighting using specific techniques like for example ‘having a bystander wet their pants at  read more

The most notable similarity between these two is undoubtedly the dynamic between father and son. If the very unconventional relationship between Baki and Yujiro was entertaining to you, I'm sure you'll be interested in that of Jin and Dongsoo of Bastard.

Classic action-driven fighting manga with hand to hand combat and some over the top elements to the fights.

Constant absurd violence. That's it. That's the content of these manga.

There both martial arts manga that involve secret underground tournaments. In tough Kiichi is becoming stronger so he can defeat his evil uncle who believes only the strong deserve to live, Baki on the other hand is becoming stronger so that he can defeat his evil father who believes only the strong should survive. Besides lots of similarities in the story the artwork is also very similar and if you liked one I would recommend the other.

Both are that "just turn your brain off" type of manga, packed with action scenes and also very graphic.

+ Protagonists get stronger and stronger + Enemies are going to be the best friends + Tournament to be the strongest on the world + the fights are very amusing + the goals of the protagonists are similar - Shaman King has more plot - Baki has more tournaments

Both are dark action Manga, the fights contain gore and are really violent. Many fighter from Grappler Baki don't think about rules in a fight, so does Ryo from Shamo as well (except some times). There are some character, which could be the same person. In Baki there is an overpowered yakuza boss called Kaoru Hanayama, with scars on face, a big tattoo on the back and he doesn't have an actual fighting style. One opponent from Ryo in Shamo had the same qualities.

Both are by the same mangaka, and deal with similar themes such as screwed up mother/son relationships. Additionally, the creator of the original Garouden novels on which manga is based, Baku Yumemakura, is a major influence on Itagaki's writing.
