A prevailing theme in both series is the notion of moral justice: Is it right to kill those who are unhealthy to society? It is a rather conflicting statement as often the answer lies in the subjective. This is profoundly highlighted in both series through the characters, views of the general public, and moral consequences and decisions the protagonists have to face.

Both deal with school students (Yagami Light / Azama Shou), who after gaining a special power, decide to take justice into their own hands to create a better world. Though the personalities and methods of the protagonists are different (Death Note has intense 'battle of the minds' dialogue and Kira who kills all the criminals whilst Akumetsu has gorey action and Akumetsu - a 'terrorist group' publicly killing corrupt beaurocrats) it's enjoyable to compare one after reading the other to see different peoples' approach to the same subject.

Both are about a high school boy with a unlikely, supernatural power they will use to "improve" the country by killing everyone that is evil according to their judgement.

Death Note's kills have their focus on your every day murderer, rapist etc while  Akumetsu has it's focus on politicians, CEO's: what's wrong with trias politica, economics, the pharmaceutical industry etc.

Death Note is more of a psychological blockbuster and a thriller focussing on mind-games while Akumetsu is a good action. 

Akumetsu is especially cool to read if you are into politics and know a little bit about the economic crisis we have, or have seen Michael Moore's Sicko. It makes you want to go "whoohoo, you go Akumetsu!" read more

Like Death Note, Akumetsu is a story about a high school student who has the methods to fight evil, and he does so by killing off corrupt politicians and government officials.

These manga both bring the worst of human kind up. They let you realise how bad some people actually are. The main characters both dedicate their lives to bringing down this evil, they even go as far as killing them because most of the time that is the only way.

it has the same setting, only that there is no 'L' character in akumetsu. 
but both protagonists have a driving desire to fight against evil, even if it means killing people. and the biggest similarity is 
that the mc has a superpower which he uses to change japan. 
in death note, well the death note and,
in akumetsu , the really sexy mask.

Both manga are about changing Japan.  Read Sanctuary for a hardboiled crime thriller look at Japanese politics populated by the manliest men in manga, with emphasis on yakuza involvement.  Read Akumetsu to see Japanese politics blown up and eviscerated by a happy-go-lucky lunatic, with emphasis on unrestrained trashy violence, involving at one point a wheelchair kitted out with knives goring a politician to death.

Politics, corruption... Japan needs to change. Both manga focus on such an equation where the protagonists attempt to make a stand against the corruption of Japan and change it for the better. Sanctuary differs being an intense crime thriller, where two brothers make use of their superior intelligence to topple both the political and criminal battlefield. While Akumetsu has a complete maniac tearing up the world and showcasing his twisted love of violence and brutality. Overall, both manga are some of the manliest stories in existence that will ensure to appeal to anyone who enjoys stories with characters  attempting to enact a drastic change on the world. read more

Sanctuary is mostly a yakuza manga and I'm recommending this over Akumetsu cause they're similar, however Sanctuary tackles issues regarding Japan's half-corrupt political system in a more realistic and overall in a better course of action. 
Both have incredible manipulative MCs which has really been a sought-after element lately, really makes you wanna root for them and hope their plans execute correctly.

Sun-Ken Rock addpermalink

First of all the MCs look very similar not only in appearance but in their personal beliefs. If you want to see a high schooler going against people of higher social standing than him for justice, with good violence, then Akumetsu is a much better alternative. If you liked Akumetsu's action though and would like to add some silly comedy, then Sun-Ken Rock is what you're looking.

Akumetsu and Wolf Guy are both created by the same author and artist, so the art is of course similar, with tons of violence and a struggle that turns more and more desperate as the climax approaches, as the lead is forced to handle the situation without the use of his talents

These two manga are about heavy crimes done by people who think they can't be harmed with the exceptional power and influence they have, and a character who either stays behind the scenes or is taking the spotlight with a disguise, to punish these evildoers.

*Both of them are not for the faint of heart! Be aware: they are extremely violent.
<> Akumetsu: MC is not as sadistic as Brutal's MC. (Both are still about vengeance for the people they committed crimes against)

The main characters of both series want to get rid of the bad people in the world but for a different reason. If you read one of these manga you will certainly enjoy the other one as well, even if it is just to see another side of the story... Both of them have a big mysterious element in them.

Both these series may not seem all that similar to you, but i assure you it's somewhat is. 
Both of the protagonist uses harsh methods for justice or show what is right and wrong. In hammer session it's to teach the students what's right and what's wrong and to not do it again, while in Akumestsu it's to show what will happen to those who follow in the footstep of "EVIL".
Both great manga's if you're into complicated things. However Akumestsu is darker and has alot of gore and killing.

Blood gore and a lot of killing, that is what these manga have in common. If you like these kind if manga that also have a mysterious side to them, then you should check these manga out for sure. But be warned, you are going to see a dark side if humanity that you will not soon forget

Both are about anti-heroes that kill corrupted people. Despite they are published in shonen magazines, the graphic content could fit more into a seinen magazine. But, while Akame ga Kill take placs in a fantasy setting, Akumetsu do it in comtemporary Japan.

Both main characters have weird powers that they use for good,yet in a weird good way. Once you read one of those, and read the other you'll get the feeling of "Akumetsu is like Hentai Kamen, but without the hentai parts."

Committing crime to solve corruption, while keeping their identities a secret with a mask that barely covers their face. Hidden is their ability of a supernatural power.

Both Mangas do a great job of exposing ills in the system, where in Akumetsu it's the government and in Medical Dragon it's the Health Organizations.
Although the methodology of the protagonists is very different, the ideals are the same.
  
Both are great mangas.

Both series has a more mature setting involving criminals and complicated suspense. Although their premise aren't alike, there's a familiar mood with how both series operates especially when detective work are involved. The main male protagonist in both series also meets a variety of characters that they bond with while adapting with events in the story.

Kurosagi and Akumetsu are similar due to the fact that both main characters want to take down those who take advantage of others/"evil".

They both have the same idea in mind, but Akumetsu kills the "evil". Kurosagi goes down the path of putting the "evil's" game against them. They swindle people, they in turn get swindled.

Superheroes and justice are the two central themes of both mangas. Akumetsu appeals to an older audience with a dark and mature tone, while Ratman appeals to a younger audience with a more comedic and light hearted story. Both explore the philosophy of "what is good?" and "what is evil?" but only Akumetsu establishes a clear answer and distinction between the two, while Ratman does so vaguely through it's cheek humor and fanservice.

Both protagonists are seen as evil "superheroes" by society but there is a fundamental difference between the two. Ratman is feared solely because of his monster-like appearance, while Akumetsu is feared because of his violent approach in killing those he deems "evil". However, both wear the mask of a hero to ultimately help society as they firmly follow their own sense of justice. read more
