That dead seal that stuffed with rotting seagulls was crazy gross lol

I'm picking this up because a second season is airing in the summer.... glad I did.

Just when I thought the Japanese couldn't get any more creative.

After spending a summer doing yeast fermentation in bioreactors, I must say, this is relevant to my interests.

The professor casually sucking on the dead seagull was hilariously disgusting and the microbes were surprisingly adorable. It makes me wonder, though, how you might feel about using antibacterial soap if it meant having to watch the little guys die...

Bizarre episode but I like it so far.

Hasegawa wears some hot clothes but Sawaki sees beyond that; the microorganisms that is. 5/5.

Archaeon gave this a 9, soley based on that fact, it MUST be good.

And it is pretty good so far.

Watching the episode and... what's up? The flag resembles my country's flag... What??? The Agriculture University looks just like the Faculty of Law of the city where I am living... What is going on??? XD

"She might be buried somewhere so if you happen to find her..." LMAO! They're all pretty chill in that campus.

I had to look away when the professor ate the seagull. *shivers* That was so gross and the juice was even dripping from his mouth XD

"They're more Japanese looking" *microbe was bowing*

I'm officially hooked :D

Just looked it up. That dead seal kiviak thing is apparently real. Fortunately no mention of the anus-sucking bit though.

This sure was a lovely start, quite dig the concept! Reminds me a bit of Mushishi but then with microbes alone! I'm really interested to see what this anime will offer us!

And lol the OP and ED are amazingly awesome!

this seems like it will be pretty interesting
also an interesting fact is the title of this anime sounds like czech, in translation "my shimon" shimon being a popular name in czech, equivalent of simon

Wow. I don't think I'll ever be able to forget the scene with the old guy eating that dead seal O__O;;

I've been meaning to watch this for years, glad I finally got around to it! I love the concept and it seems like it might even be a bit educational :)

the humour, the art and the quirky characters very much remind me of dennou coil? Why is that?

First thought when seeing and hearing the MC : "Hey that's Sunohara ! Nice going, he finally found a place in the spotlight."

Very interesting and funny episode, excited to see more.

Microbes are seriously cute.

Was afraid the whole time that the girl woul start beating up the MC, but nope, no slapstick. God, that's refreshing !

I'm not surprised by the Seagull thing, because I've watched Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations, so I've heard about Surstromming, so I have to assume other cultures (no pun intended) in the Arctic circle have come up with other fermented foods.

That said, going from the guy's own description, that particular food appears to be meant as a condiment (like garum - a fermented fish sauce made by the Romans), so drinking it straight from the *ahem* source feels a lot like chugging Worcester Sauce (which has a recipe derived from garum) straight from the bottle - if you're down with that than more power to you, but I'll pass on partaking myself.

Pretty weird, but so far I like it! That female teacher is hot af. I wonder what kind of plot I can expect, this episode really didn't reveal much.

Being able to see chibi microbes certainly sounds like a novel concept for an anime and this does look interesting so far. I'm sure that I'll be able to learn a lot about these little creatures through this show especially when I haven't formally studied about microbiology yet.

That fermented seal gave way for quite a memorable first impression and it was funny that Sawaki pointing out the bacteria in Hasegawa's feet was the one thing that convinced her of his ability.

It's certainly a unique concept for any series. Seeing microbes seems like a gimmick, but so far it's an interesting one.

Late to the party for this one.
Digging this so far.

Unlike Hataraku Saibou!! this show has the guts to show the microorganisms as
microorganisms and not make them microhumans.

Good first episode, the reaction from the professor is understandable since learning about something that breaks all known information would make you doubt it.

I think I gained new knowledge again today.

I came here because I saw the Gourmet tag, but honestly I was really shocked to see the scene of professor Itsuki eating that kiviak XD I was really shocked then laughing and thinking "I didn't expect the gourmet scene to appear this quickly and uniquely" hahaha. I never knew there was a food called kiviak (and its process) so that was a new knowledge.

The microbes are obviously very small, and rather cute. There are some explanations about microbes as well so I guess this is really going to be a knowledgeable anime.

Pretty interesting, but it would be better without the annoying female character.
