Hello! I'm a writer and an occasional musician.
I like exploring different genres of anime, but nowadays I'm most consistently impressed by abstract shorts with interesting use of shapes and colours. Dementia stuff can be interesting too, but I don't shy away from mainstream anime.
My scores are pretty low because I've watched so many Minna no Uta music videos, which often aren't that enjoyable, but only take 2:30 minutes to watch. Also, if a series is entertaining but like sugary fluff, nice to binge but which didn't touch me on a deeper level, then I'll score it 6. That goes for a lot of popular anime on this site. It means I did still enjoy it. I don't like most comedy, I just don't get the Japanese sense of humour that well.
I'm currently a secretary in the
Stop-Motion Appreciation Society club.
Here is our club spreadsheet.
I only accept friend requests when there's at least a note attached or we've exchanged a few words.

Oh, and I noticed you made a spreadsheet for the club which is cool! I suggested a spreadsheet once last year... It's so nice that the club has one now! Thanks! I'd be glad to help with the spreadsheet some time but I don't think I could at the moment... Anyways, kudos! I appreciate the things you do for the club.
If you need help finding sources you can message me on MAL or contact me via the discord I am on. :)
I wonder if the manga will ever resume.
I have the David the Gnome book too but I didn’t realise it was a sequel.
Regarding the MnU (thanks for submitting it!), the title should have actually been submitted as "Teruteru Bouzu wa Osamurai" (since corrected).
From my friend:
"The オ O is a prefix intended to show respect for something or used for formal language.
E.g.
Father = Tousan or Otousan
In this case, it's just weird since the title is written in katakana instead of hiragana."
Yeah, it would be great if all the Geidai films could be added. I talked with a mod, and in the future a lot more may be eligible, since most of them have been released on DVD by the university. For the time being though, I know quite a few which do qualify if you'd like me to pass along some for you to submit (I am submitting things too, but I don't have timelines when specific things will be, since I have so much on my radar). You can always feel free to pass along works for me to check if I think they are eligible. Working at a studio is one way for their films to qualify, but even just having a professionally produced commercial or music video is fine. I agree that it would be nice if some of the more impressive doujin could be submitted (or all doujin for that matter, I say the more the merrier), but I don't think perceived quality should become the determining factor, since that would probably lead to even more denials (experimental works don't necessarily have widespread appeal).
The artists that are on MAL are a result of user submissions; if it's someone who contributed to a series or is popular, there's a greater likelihood they'll be in. Essentially, if you want to see someone on the site, you'll need to submit them or hope someone else eventually does.
MAL uses the Hepburn romanization system. Macrons are never written for Japanese words here, so you'll want to sound out the vowels. Taking ō for example, I understand if it's at the beginning of the a word it should be "oo", and otherwise, "ou" (with the rare exception like koodori, but this would show up in a dictionary). You can also compare against other titles in the database when you're able.
Edit: I was having an issue sending my reply - seems to have been the Wikipedia link to Hepburn romanization? Or maybe not? It failed last night and this morning after multiple tries. Oh well, I guess, lol.
I didn't appreciate it when I first saw it, but revesting it later and now I do, especially the song.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlZNDGMh8bQ is another one you could try adding. It's related to https://myanimelist.net/anime/10533/Fujilog but should have unique animation (you'll recognize a familiar face making an appearance).
There's a link on the github page that should show an invite to the server: https://github.com/seanbreckenridge/mal-notify-bot
I would imagine all would have probably thought the works were from some kind of genius. I mean, at the time, this was all groundbreaking stuff. But I would also imagine that the technology would have been praised more than the actual story and such itself. That's how I look at things at least. I feel as if anyone would naturally get invested in the concept and how things work. Probably applies more to an older generation, but even now, I suppose the same is true.
Btw, there's actually a discord server for people who like shorts. Idk if you want an invite but I can send one over if you are interested. Said server is also made for notifying when new anime is added into the database.
Ah, Kabuki's works are just amazing. Doesn't try to hide her perverted side which really gives off the right effect when watching her stuff, like some kind of wild art orgy. People like her make the medium that much more interesting. I still haven't finished everything she has, but I might do that soon one of these days.
