Another terrible episode. As if we needed even more proof that this anime is an harem, here comes the first love rival for Kirito, Kuradeel, you can tell he's the bad guy for this story arc because he wants to own Asuna while only Kirito can be her master, and he's also a sore loser that can't handle Kirito's Mary Sueness so he calls him a cheater. Oh and Asuna is the typical perfect waifu: cooks delicious dishes, slaps the hero in the face when he touched her boobs, and cowers behind Kirito's broad, manly shoulders because she can't handle problems on her own and needs a strong male figure to guide her.

But Kirito is easily this show’s biggest problem. The duel between him and Kuradeel could have bene an interesting conflict, maybe, but instead it’s just a device to show how awesome Kirito is as he saves another helpless woman. We’re not going to resolve this through dialogue that actually reveals more about the guild structure, we’re not going to have Asuna demonstrate her own competency – we’re gonna have her hide behind Kirito as he defends her from the scary sword guy.

I'm gonna be honest, I quite like couples interacting with each other. It may not be the most realistic thing ever, but is surely more enjoyable to see Kirito and Asuna together than overused tropes of 'loyal creepy bodyguard' and 'damsel in distress' all around. I'm getting tired of 'sitting and explaining', some visual explanation won't hurt. Also, of course, a boob-grab would be present, after all, who you think is the audience for this type of show? I'll not nitpick too much about it, but honestly, as an anti-ecchi person, that was quite depressing. Completely unnecessary in terms of plot or character development, it's there for the sake of it. 3/5

Last episode: Kirito almost dies trying to make a better sword.
This episode: "What sword......"
Lisbeth's smithing passion got shafted way too fast.

Asuna episode 2: "I didn't come to this town to eat".
Asuna now: Proceeds to max out cooking skill.

The best part about the whole show so far is the idea of people settling down and living life in SAO. Too bad it's just expository conversation.

Asuna: A badass who's also a vice commander in the best guild in SAO.
Also Asuna: Ohhh, Kirito, save me, from my problems.......PLEASE.

Yeah, she steps in later but the damage is already done.
The dungeon section was good.

Asuna boob grab accomplished, the countdown to ass-grab begins now.

Previously: I saw Asuna being hard on every one in her guild.

I can see why the top two commanders in teh top guild need bodyguards.

We know Players are vulnerable when they're sleeping. We saw Kirito guarding Asuna while she was sleeping. Regardless of how good she is fighting. She can not guard herself when she is fast asleep.

We saw there is An Assasins Guild (We saw one of them this episode watching Asuna and Kirito). None of them saw the Assasin.

We saw previously The Assassins who were hired to murder those 3 players. What stopped their attack wasn't just Kirito showing up. It was Kirito showing up + The fact it was 4 or 5 Assassins versus 4 Players.

We know Asuna regularly goes off on her own. How could her guild not be concerned about her being caught outside a safe zone by a full party of Assassins.

Her body guard has to guard her. She gives orders reminding every one, every time she gives them orders she is their leader (second in command).

How can you just abandon the regulations in your guild which you stand for as second in command and expect guild members not to have problems with your leadership.

As long as her bodyguard is under orders to accompany her everywhere He can't not do that. If she doesn't want him to. She can at any moment give him new orders. Like to dismiss him as she is second in command. Or to reassign him.

This guy if he doesn't carry out his duties in this guild. What will his excuse be if the First in command asks him: Why are you not guarding Asuna. Why did you fail to accompany her. You know we assigned you to do this one thing and you failed in this one thing. Even Asuna could turn around and say: You failed in your duty to guard me. You failed to follow me.

She's the co leader in that guild and she joins another party. And runs away from her bodyguard. He follows her acting on his orders. His objective is to take her back to the guild and her duties which she's just abondoned without informing anyone (a regular occurance) (it is because she does this so often she was assigned a bodyguard).

Kirito is hiding his true level. With False Data. In this world where there are teams of Assassins and Player Killers and Players playing Orange how can he report back to the guild that he left her in the care of a Player lower in rank than he, her guild assigned bodyguard is.

He could say: Asuna said he is 10 levels above my level. The first in command could say: Did you see this. No. What did you see? I saw level xxx. What! And you left her with a level xxx to guard her.

If the guy can say to the guild okay. I was bested in a duel wittnessed by the Second in Command herself. Okay. His superiors can say. Okay. We have the report and the wittnesses who saw you follow her and question the guy and saw Asuna herself intervene against you and we have the wittnesses who heard the command from her to you to step down from guard duty.

I felt bad for the blacksmith guy. He helped Kirito for free in the murder case. Asuna comes along and he doesn't even get a share of the rare s class rabit meat. Not even 1 piece. He spoke in your favour in beginners village. He fought alongside you against the first floor boss. He did free forensic work for you in your murder mystery. Kirito remember your firends dude.

Asuna claims half and makes a stew. Really. As another poster said before me in this thread, Max Cooking Level my ass.

She just wanted the meat rather she just wanted to recruit him to go fight that floor boss with her.

She wants to recruit him. She attacked him through his stomach (always a wise strategy) and held a knife to his face for good measure to get him to move his finger to click to join up with her.

Asuna is too much. Kirito would have probably said yes without all the yandere.

I didn't like that Kirito is waiting for her at the place where they arranged to meet.

And out of nowhere she teleports running/falling into him and knocks him on the ground. If he hadn't been there she would have crashed into the stone ground face first. He's lying there knocked on his back with a weight on top of him. His hand is not on her breas deliberately.

She hits him and hits him and hits him. This being an anime from the 2012s ugh this stuff was supposedly super funny to people back then and to some even now.

It isn't funny.

Right now Asuna is a Bunch of Tropes. I'd like to see her Character.

She'll go crazy if she keeps this up. She needs to decide on who she wants to be, Yandere, Tsundre, Kuudere, etc and who she wants to fight with: Her guild or a new party (Kirito). Because Kirito is very clear in him self in his communication with people and in who he wants to fight with. (He wants to be solo ... forging temporary partnerships where it is convenient).

Fighting anime aren't really my first choice but I don't hate them or anything. This show is just sooo slow. I started it months ago and I'm only on episode 8? I really hope it gets more interesting. I really doubt I'm going to watch this show after the first season.

Probably the best episode thus far. We had some comedy, action, and drama. LOL @ Kirito grabbing Asuna's boobs and squeezing them. They encounter the boss. Oh shit. Next episode looks like a good one.

Bruh, what? I thought this episode was about him using the new sword already as how title suggest me so. Instead, i got him enjoying dinner with waifu. Ah, okay.

Also, i believe Asuna had no boobs while wearing that casual shirt. But then suddenly Kirito--
Oh right, okay, continue.

2 years have passed and it feels like nothing interesting whatsoever has happened in Kirito's journey in SAO, it's hard to really care for this arc given the way its been structured so far. Even this episode, while a hair more relevant than previous episodes, still felt like side story stuff that wasn't fun to watch again and of course, some random fanservice and a batshit insane cliche character who was Asuna's escort and is jealous of Kirito. There was some progress with the Kirito-Asuna relationship as a whole from the start with them hanging out at Asuna's place while eating some rare rabbit, to the stuff at the end but the show hasn't exactly paced their relationship well at all so far. Doesn't feel natural imo.

Ah the Kirito x Asuna relationship is making big strides, and I'm in for it. Too bad Keradeel is such a simp, he stood no chance to OP Kirito. But before that happens....oppai touch...oppai...yessir!!!

Now that they're on the boss of Floor 74, they are alone. And whaddya know, it's the minotaur thing with a snake for a tail. Hoping for a very awesome fight...but we can only hope.

If you only payed attention to the episode it would make much more sense for you, but you don't. This episode was very enjoyable for me, just like many other people who also enjoyed it. Of course Asuna had to hide behind Kirito because Kuradeel was following her everywhere and not respecting her privacy and following her orders. Plus, Asuna trusts Kirito way more.

Kirito felt the wraith of Asuna punch. She almost hit a home run with the force she put into it. You can tell that the person who structured that scene loved the face she made. A little too much detail went into it, lol.

Two years have passed and people are beginning to treat SAO as a second life. To be expected. Quite handy then that the game's skills cater to starting another life. Be what you want to be, eh.

this is a great episode as we see Kirito getting along more with Asuna, along with their trust growing because Kirito stepped in to stop Kuradeel from following her. very comedic fanservice too and loved how Asuna really wanted a share of that meal with Kirito's S tier ingredient lol. very significant character development here.

I’m amazed that more people are here complaining about the fan service more than the complete lack of exposition, story development, and growth in character relationships in nearly every episode. Here’s how I see this show; Sword Art Online’s main plot or “main quest” is to get out of the game and the characters unwillingly being trapped there, but every episode so far feels like a side quest where they introduce characters and dump them the next episode for a new side quest where Kirito does something with some other random group of players. And now we jump 2 whole years into the future… what the hell have they been doing this whole time? And how are they even alive at this point if they can’t eat or do anything in the outside world? This could have been an amazing premise with a lot great stories to tell, but it all just feels so cheesy and more like a collection of short stories to tell each episode.
